But I have a hard time doing it on my own - it just seems so boring compared to other sorts of exercise. But Uptown Movement changed this for me. I signed up for the unlimited classes, and I went 2-3 times a week. I've been at it for about two years now, and the difference in my overall fitness and well-being is huge. There is a friendliness to this place, an openness to great diversity in terms of age, race, sexuality, body size and type, language, etc. that is immensely appealing. I like the coaches and my classmates (mostly women) enough to make me want to go. The emphasis is never on how one looks or losing weight - it's always on increasing mobility and strength, especially as one ages. Before I started taking these classes, I had back problems (especially when picking up my 70-pound dog to bathe her), and I often sprained an ankle (weakened by a bad injury in my youth) and sometimes fell (my dog pulls me a lot). For the last 2 years, I haven't sprained my ankle, haven't been injured falling (and have hardly ever fallen at all), and more. And I can now deadlift my weight. In sum, I think this gym is great, and I encourage you to do your body (and mind) a great favor and join.

It is always clean as well! :) there are bathrooms with a shower if you need them. Something I love about F45 is that the coaches are knowledgeable and really challenge me to improve, even when I need to modify exercises. I have never been much of a self-motivator when it comes to fitness, so this is a big plus for me. Since my first, I have completed two 10 week challenges that have transformed by body in ways I didn't think were possible. This morning, I signed up for my third challenge. The coaches there are so motivational and knowledgeable. There are two coaches to every class so you always have eyes on you making sure that your form is correct. Which is something that is very important to me. Every workout is different, so being bored is not something I have experienced at all. There is a great mix of cardio and resistance so I am targeting my entire body. I start every day with a morning class, and when I don't go I truly miss it. The classes FLY by and I am buring between 500 & 850 calories per class. If you are looking for a studio that feels like a family, is an intense workout and something you will find yourself addicted to you should seriously take advantage of the one week free trial. You will walk out the door after your first class and wonder why you didn't try it sooner.

Despite my limitations, I still found this workout to be doable and accessible as a non fit person. Flex FiiT offers circuit style workouts that consist of different focus areas with a mix of weight training and cardio movements. The space is clean and big enough to fit at least 15 worker outers comfortably. We started out with a short warm up that consisted of jumping jacks, arm stretches with a resistance band, runner lunges and butterfly sit ups. Next, we moved into four movements that consisted of curls on each arm, resistance band pulls and one other movement that I've mentally blocked out of my mind and can't remember doing now. After four rounds of that we broke off into four stations including TRX training, using a ski machine, weighted squats and more curls. The finisher was a mix of jump squats, mountain climbers and froggers. The instructor went around checking everyone's form diligently which I really appreciated as someone who's coming back to working out after a while. She was motivating without screaming at you and being mean about it, another thing that was much appreciated at this stage in my fitness journey. I booked this through ClassPass and would probably join if this were closer to me in Astoria. If this studio is close to where you live I'd definitely recommend dropping in for a class.

I have watched in awe as my body now: - recovers while doing other physical movements -catches its breath while running - does what my mind tells it to far beyond what I thought I could. (Have literally pushed 5 more reps, by hyper focusing on the muscle even though I couldn't feel it and relaxing all else. I watched myself amazed) Cedric Cosiac has been my physical and mental trainer here for the last six months. He has trained not only my body but my mind, to such an extent that I can accomplish vastly more physically than I ever thought possible for myself. I am writing this because I have just stepped off a high intensity dance shoot involving everything from ballet to acrobatics, parkour, martial arts, hip hop, to a few things we just invented. I was the only person on camera. We were supposed to have two days to film but we only had one and had to race against the clock as the sun was our light source. This means I get little to no breaks in between takes where I am required to dance full out in huge bursts. I was required to stay in muscle fatigue for 12 hours. But I PULLED IT OFF WITH ENERGY TO SPARE ! Why ? Cedric. The active recovery and breath training allowed me to maintain energy and recover while moving. The endurance training we do allowed my muscles to last longer and perform better. (I told him I had to do a high intensity dance piece on film months ago and he designed a routine to match exactly) His overall attention to my mental state during our training allowed me to remain completely calm and slow my heart rate, focus, and not waste energy. Everyone was in awe of what I was able to do. I genuinely wouldn't have been able to pull it off had it now been for our training I used EVERYTHING he taught me and it's just the beginning. He has shown me what I am capable of. I do not know of a greater gift than that.
