After taking the initial month of boot camp this past December, I continued through April. Though he taught three classes a week, for five months, each class was new and fun - I don't think he ever repeated a workout routine. PJ is great at encouragement and helping you push yourself to meet your goals. If I hadn't moved from NYC, I would still be attending today!

I was offered a week of free classes for myself and a friend and decided to take him up on his offer. I decided to take the Wednesday morning, 6:30 am, class on 10/12/16. I reserved my spot by sending him a text message the day before. He confirmed my reservation and even invited me to a class he was instructing that evening. I received a text from Mr. Link at 5:30 am on 10/12/16 confirming the class and location. He also told me to call him if I got lost, the class was being held in the gymnasium at Riverbank State Park. I arrived at the park at 6:00 am and I called Mr. Link because I was lost, he did not answer his phone and I left him a voice message. I waited for about ten minutes and after not getting a phone call or text, decided to try to find the building myself. I came across a park employee who showed me where the building was. I got to the gymnasium at around 6:15 am, it was locked. I looked to see if anyone else was waiting, I was going to ask if they were waiting for the Link Fitness class but the only other people around were jogging on the track. I sat around for another ten minutes, other people had tried to get into the building after me but it was still locked. I called Mr. Link again at 6:28 am, no answer. I immediately sent him a text and told him I was waiting outside and the building was locked. NO RESPONSE. I waited for another ten minutes and went home. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume something terrible happened to explain the lack of response to my calls and text, as well as not showing up. I received a text message from him at 8:20 am apologizing and saying that he had a training and forgot his phone. He then said that someone by the name of Angela was instructing the class and was inside the building. I became upset after getting that message. First, I would have expected a phone call. Second, what personal trainer doesn't carry his/her phone on their person at all times? Third, if someone else was instructing the class why wasn't I given their number or vice versa? Fourth, saying this person was inside was not true, I was there waiting for over 20 minutes and the building was locked. I can't stand having my time wasted, and I hate unprofessionalism. I really wanted to support this business because the pictures and video that I had seen looked excellent and I wanted them to be part of my fitness repertoire. Unfortunately the actions of Mr. Link have left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Joseph is very sweet, but he will definitely make you want to push hard. He's very accomodating when it comes to injuries or diferent levels of fitness. I'd say so far, sometimes it starts a little slowly, but 15 minutes in, I'm definitely sweating. He really motivates us and keeps us going for the full duration of the class. I also really like the small class size.

The kids get to be wheeled around in the stroller and watch me work my tail off! the cool thing is that we are always moving from place to place during the class so the kids don't get antsy in the stroller. To them it's just a regular 1 hour walk in the park...(if only they realized how hard I was working!). I noticed a dramatic increase in muscle strength after only a couple classes. After 4 classes my body shrunk and my pants were loose! I will def continue with the next season and I am positive I will be able to wear my old "pre-baby" bikini this summer. This class is good for all moms, but specifically the moms who worry about lining up child care in order to go workout --- that's totally unnecessary with this class... buckle the babies/kids up and take them with you to this class! PS- I should mention I had not exercised in 3 years prior to doing this bootcamp AND I bring both my kids in the double stroller and I was still able to keep up. I also felt weak, sleep deprived, lazy, and it actually helped me with all those problems.

I'm only the second week into my first month, but I could tell by the 4th class how much my endurance was improving. What I love about his boot camp class is that people from all fitness levels can take it at the same time. You could be a super active/exercise frequently or looking to lose 20+ pounds, and everyone will be sweating and tired by the end of class. Gary does a great job at creating exercises on how well everyone is handling the class, and he really cares about helping everyone reach their fitness goals. Although the first couple classes will make you super sore, I really look forward to going to Boot Camp now! Take his classes!!

The owner Daniel creates a warm and friendly environment. All the instructors are experienced and truly great! Teresa's barre and pilates classes are #1. Talia's zumba class is fun! "Prepare to be uncomfortable!"…read more A strenuous 1-1.5hr workout filled with calisthenics, HIIT cardio, free weights, rowing, and running/powerwalking, Orange Theory is based on getting you into the (orange) zone, where you optimally burn the most calories. This OT is quite new, so you're getting clean, unblemished equipment. You WILL need an OTbeat monitor/pedometer, which costs around $120 new, or $10 per session to rent, and I'd suggest buying used at a discount. The class app is also excellent to book classes beforehand and check your stats. They're pretty strict on time (5 min grace period). It's not exactly beginner-friendly since everything is fast-paced and slightly intimating to follow the instructor's frantic orders, so keep your pride at the door and ask questions (even if the instructor looks busy) or just follow your neighbor. Speaking of which, the community, instructors and staff are all extremely friendly. The main goal is to enjoy the class and have a great workout, so go at your own tempo, and don't take it personally if the instructor corrects your form/pushes you lightly. I highly, highly recommend Coach H (high-intensity and unapologetic push-based fervor) aka Coach Herlentz, or Coach Sy (genial and gentle encouragement). Both deliver incredible care to their members and take their jobs very seriously. They teach early morning classes but they're def worth waking up for!

However, once my first class was over, they swindled me into signing up for a membership ON THE SPOT which was a bit uncomfortable because they are definitely the pushy salespeople type. Either way, I gave in and signed up for the membership but I cancelled it before 3 days in when I realized I definitely couldn't pay it every month. My two stars comes from the lack of customer service. I paid for a full month in which I was unable to use because I tore my ACL. I reached out via email hoping I can possibly get the month back especially since I didn't use any of the classes for the month that I paid $200+ for! They didn't even reply back to my message. This just shows that they're really all about money and not really about community which sucks because you're located in Harlem which is all about the community. That was mad whack but karma will take its course one way or another ‍
