My first visit with her was the 'get established with the doc' kind of appointment. She seemed very…read morestressed and in a huge hurry, but I figured in that profession that's bound to happen some days so I blew it off. I believe she is a PA not working directly under a physician (I may be wrong on that) and she said she could not do my pain medication. That presented a problem for me, but at least I knew. AZ is very different in health care provider laws than where I came from. At my second visit she still seemed highly tense. When I said I thought I was getting another bout of shingles she started an exam and was telling me shingles don't go away by themselves and other facts about shingles when it hit me what else it could be. So I started to tell her, she froze in her tracks, looked at me as if to bore a hole through my forehead, turned and walked out of the room leaving the door behind her swinging open. Um. What the heck? Did she suddenly have to use the restroom? I don't know. She may know her stuff, I don't know. What I do know is I certainly don't like her style, and she has a lousy bedside manor.

Two stars may be generous. Since Ricci is not a physician, and appears not to work closely with any…read morephysician, she is very limited in knowledge, skills, and abilities. Therefore, I would not see her for anything other than very routine visits. Ricci was a provider for my daughter when she was young. Ricci did seem to have necessary skills to address basic childhood issues (e.g. vaccinations, runny nose, etc). My daughter liked her, but Ricci had a very poor attitude towards me. She was often abrasive and became confrontational when I requested copies of my daughter's medical records, though I did eventually receive the records that I requested. I found going to Ricci was often a waste of time considering her limited skills and the fact that she normally just provided a consult to see an actual doctor. Moreover, her consults were either for physicians that I could have found on my own or preferred not to go with, so there was little benefit to her recommendations.

I had been going to this place for years, seeing an np usually just once per year due to a…read moreprescription that I am on. Recently cvs contacted me because the foothills office was non responsive for an RX they were trying to refill. I called the foothills office and was told that my np left over 2 months ago (I was never notified). I said fine, assign me to someone else there. They said every one of their providers had a 6-7 month wait to see them to establish care with the new provider. I said ok, but can you refill my prescription until I can get in. The office gal said no, you have to see a provider first. Horrible that existing patients are not given priority to see someone there, and I believe this would qualify as patient abandonment (ie lawsuit). I am on a drug that is critical to take. Now I am left without a provider. Called TMC One and got assigned to an np (where are all the doctors in Tucson???) but can't get in until early June (9 mos!!). In the meantime, I am left with no prescription and will probably have to get it off the black market. In summary, I plead with anyone looking for a new provider to avoid the entire Carondolet Network, they don't care about patients only the bottom line.

Two weeks ago, Sunday, I woke up with tendonitis in my Achilles. I couldn't put any pressure on the…read moreleg because it hurt so bad. I took the day off to R-I-C-E (rest, ice, compression, elevation). I'm all about alternative therapies :-) I had wanted to try out the Icebox for cryotherapy because I had heard it is excellent for muscle recovery and to reduce inflammation. So, on Monday morning, I headed over to St. Phillips Plaza. The Icebox is a clean, peaceful spa atmosphere. The staff is friendly, fun, and professional. The parking is abundant, but on the weekends due to the pop-up market, you may have to walk a little bit. So the first time I hobbled in, Zeke was there to give me a tour of the facility and told me how everything works. I decided to start with their intro package 2 cryotherapy sessions and 2 compression treatments. The cryo chamber is a single person size which is great since I want privacy. They provide gloves, socks, slippers and an ultra-plush robe that is so comfortable I want one for my home. You wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing in the cryo chamber but most simple wear underwear or undergarments. The changing rooms are very clean and private with locked doors and a key that you can pop into your robe pocket. Ready for treatment. The staff hand you a headband to cover your ears, a mask (optional), and gloves. The last step is choosing your temperature and music. The temperature range is Cold-to-Colder but its only 3 minutes and I can do pretty much anything for 3 minutes. The music is on spotify so you can literally pick what you want to listen to. I chose SOJA a reggae band. The song was great but i just stood there the first time and the time went by a little slow. The second time I did a podcast, the selection was random, and the womans calm slow voice was not a good fit. Thats about the time I heard that some people exercise while in doing the coldest setting. So now I pick one song I can dance/exercise to and the time flies by. Perfect!!! A couple days a week, after the cryo I do compression. Its 24 minutes of blissful relaxation reclining in a comfortable chair in front of a salt wall. Salt therapy works through the release of negative ions - yay salt! While compressing you can enjoy a hot cup of tea and even red light therapy So, what happened after my first visit? I still have tendonitis but within 12 hours I was able to walk on my leg and the inflammation is greatly reduced. I started with cold and have gradually moved up to the even colder temperature. Cryo has helped me so much! I love the Icebox and Cryo so much I purchased a monthly unlimited membership and make it a point to go everyday.
