Two weeks ago, Sunday, I woke up with tendonitis in my Achilles. I couldn't put any pressure on the leg because it hurt so bad. I took the day off to R-I-C-E (rest, ice, compression, elevation). I'm all about alternative therapies :-) I had wanted to try out the Icebox for cryotherapy because I had heard it is excellent for muscle recovery and to reduce inflammation. So, on Monday morning, I headed over to St. Phillips Plaza. The Icebox is a clean, peaceful spa atmosphere. The staff is friendly, fun, and professional. The parking is abundant, but on the weekends due to the pop-up market, you may have to walk a little bit. So the first time I hobbled in, Zeke was there to give me a tour of the facility and told me how everything works. I decided to start with their intro package 2 cryotherapy sessions and 2 compression treatments. The cryo chamber is a single person size which is great since I want privacy. They provide gloves, socks, slippers and an ultra-plush robe that is so comfortable I want one for my home. You wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing in the cryo chamber but most simple wear underwear or undergarments. The changing rooms are very clean and private with locked doors and a key that you can pop into your robe pocket. Ready for treatment. The staff hand you a headband to cover your ears, a mask (optional), and gloves. The last step is choosing your temperature and music. The temperature range is Cold-to-Colder but its only 3 minutes and I can do pretty much anything for 3 minutes. The music is on spotify so you can literally pick what you want to listen to. I chose SOJA a reggae band. The song was great but i just stood there the first time and the time went by a little slow. The second time I did a podcast, the selection was random, and the womans calm slow voice was not a good fit. Thats about the time I heard that some people exercise while in doing the coldest setting. So now I pick one song I can dance/exercise to and the time flies by. Perfect!!! A couple days a week, after the cryo I do compression. Its 24 minutes of blissful relaxation reclining in a comfortable chair in front of a salt wall. Salt therapy works through the release of negative ions - yay salt! While compressing you can enjoy a hot cup of tea and even red light therapy So, what happened after my first visit? I still have tendonitis but within 12 hours I was able to walk on my leg and the inflammation is greatly reduced. I started with cold and have gradually moved up to the even colder temperature. Cryo has helped me so much! I love the Icebox and Cryo so much I purchased a monthly unlimited membership and make it a point to go everyday. read more

I had been researching facials and didn't know Icebox offered them! I feel they need to get more attention for them because mine was just incredible. My face suffers from a lot of redness and puffiness, so I opted for the special "flow and glow" facial. I loved how my esti Tess alternated between hot and cold therapy, which the cold therapy is what icebox is known for. I will definitely be coming back, and I'm seriously considering their monthly membership for skincare. This treatment is just what my skin needs. If you are on the fence, they offer your first facial half off! Normally 120, I only had to pay 60 as a first timer. Worth it! read more

My partner has Crohn's so we decided to try Cryo to help with their inflammation. We bought the intro deal - two cryotherapy sessions and two compression therapy sessions. We went online and booked a session for last Sunday and a session for today (Sunday, June 18th). First session went great. Staff was nice and even said, "see you next Sunday." We came back today for our 10am appointment only to find a sign on the door saying, "closed for Father's Day." No call to reschedule us. No warning or notice. Their system lets us schedule appointments for a day they were supposed to be closed? Very annoyed that now we have to try to figure out how to reschedule our appointments and that we got ready and drove all the way there only to find out they're closed. I really enjoy coming here where I now have a membership. I actively workout and try to stay in shape. But my body just gets so tense and sore. I've tried many things to help me with the pain. Then I came across this online and figured I'd try it to see if it came help with my pain and tension. The first time I came in I was greeted by super nice people. I was explained everything about how cryotherapy works and what it can bring as in benefits. I figured I'd try both compression and the cryotherapy room. It was sooo cold but then after I started feeling a lot better as I warmed up. Then going from the small icebox for 3 minutes to the compression therapy helped get the blood flowing. When you get situated into the compression therapy they give you tea or water while you sit there for 25 mins relaxing with a salt wall. I would recommend it helps me a lot with my pain and tension. Icebox Tucson is incredibly well run! Being an athlete recovery is important, this form of recovery has opened my eyes. The owner and staff were wonderfully knowledgeable, helpful, and incredibly kind. Not to mention that the area is incredibly tidy. The fully body cyro treatment and leg compression did wonders for me. I can't recommend this place enough! I 100% will be coming back. read more
