Visited on a Friday night with a 4:15 reservation. Parking was a bit rough but found a space a couple of blocks away. The restaurant is large with a lot of open space, booths, tables, high tops and a few snugs. Made our reservation on Open Table. This, in addition to their Toast rewards program, are nice perks. My husband and I split the GF (cauliflower crust) Dubuquer pizza. My son had the small hot honey Detroit crust. Fabulous and affordable. My only complaint is that they have Pepsi instead of Coke products, but that's just because of preference. Service was fast and efficient! This is now a nice every couple of weeks go-to place! Someday we will have to check out the other connected bar and arcades. I highly suggest everyone visit from Thanksgiving to the New Year as they already have reservations going for their Winter Wonderland. They will have even more than last year, including their LEGO Harry Potter display and the new Lord of the Rings display. read more

This place was pretty full even though we went later on a Saturday night. The pizza was great, just like all the other reviews state. I'm actually hooked on Detroit style pizza now. We sat at the bar so we could watch the husker football game. You can only see the tv from a couple tables. Yes, the bartenders were sweet enough to put on the Nebraska game in Iowa! I'm only removing a star for the smell. You will 100% reek when leaving here. You marinade in it and it will permeate into your hair and skin. Not just for the night, even after you shower, you will sweat pizza grease the next day. PLEASE PLEASE get some ventilation. Quick note about the set up of this place. Driftless, Dolfs bar, and Backpocket restaurant all share the same common area/bathrooms, then the basement of the area is an arcade. read more

Our server was excellent - she was friendly and accommodating. However the kitchen/Staff couldn't understand leaving cheese off half a pizza. Other DBQ pizza places understand this basic concept. read more

We carried out, service was excellent and the food was great!. Pickup was timely and easy.

We came to Dubuque to reconnect with a former colleague and friend. When it came time to think about dinner and the chance to catch up we decided on pizza at Driftless. We ordered non-alcoholic berry nojito drinks and a tip the cow beer, the pizza we ordered was a large NY style works. The server was amiable and attentive in fact, a bit chatty but fun. The pizza was delicious and the ambience is great because it's roomy in the old mill district that has been restored and repurposed. Very cool vibe all around. read more

Interior is set up and decorated well. Pizza crust varieties are Detroit style and New York style. I'm a big Detroit style fan so that's what we ordered. Pizza was amazing. They come with a side of sauce. The Detroit style was a mix of Detroit and Chicago. Sauce was scattered on top of the cheese. I would prefer below but won't complain too much on results. Crust was crunchy. Sausage was very good. Pizza bites come with sauce are very good. Could use more garlic and Parmesan. We had a very large group (20+) and they were very accommodating. Service was ok considering we dropped a service bomb on them when we showed up last minute. read more

Decent pizza joint. Service is friendly but disjointed (forgotten items). Seating area is really cool throwback vibe. Pizza is good but price to value is off. Not a destination but acceptable choice in area. read more

Visiting on business, and fellow colleagues recommended this place. I went on a weeknight when it wasn't too busy, but because it is connected with the sports and games alley next door, it was short-staffed. I like the decor and ambiance and the service was SUPER. My coworker and I sat at the bar and enjoyed great cocktails and excellent pizza's. I definitely recommend this eatery! read more

Ordered online and picked up after a long day of travel and play. Got the NY style Quattro, hot honey sausage, and cheese pizzas and was plenty for seven people. Must get the milk shakes and yes they do have drink holders (funny moment). Next time we will eat in to enjoy the fun games and beautiful architecture. read more

Very excellent pizza with menu items you don't often see. Figs, garlic confit, and numerous other ingredients. We ordered the Tie dye vodka tomato sauce swirled with Pesto, delicious. The server missed a chance by not asking if we wanted dessert. The t.v was showing pictures of their sundaes. The space is quite large and could accommodate large groups easily. Except for the sundae thing would highly recommend read more

Food is delicious and waitstaff is friendly. Two different homemade pizza styles to choose from: Detroit and New York thin Crust. Both amazing. The best gourmet pizza toppings in Dubuque. Most other pizza places are pretty standard run of the mill ingredients for pizzas. Driftless is really above all that. The burrata appetizer is awesome to try too. Homemade Milkshakes are a fun and welcome addition to the meal experience here. This past Christmas season they had the most amazing winter wonderland experience in their restaurant and dining areas. If they offer it again in the future- GO! Book a ticket! The impressive Harry Potter Lego display they had was worth the visit alone. Highly recommended coming here. Pizza was very tasty and filling. Good selection of beverages as well. They're next door to a brewery so they have good Backpocket Beers.

Got a Detroit style the works, it was fine but not great, a little doughy. The star for this trip was the buffalo ny style. Really really good. Crispy and tender in all the right ways. The celery curls were a great touch. Loved it! read more

Update: I spoke with Mike, the general manager, and I have to say--he's a great guy who genuinely cares about the guest experience. I wasn't an upset customer, just offering honest feedback, and I really appreciate that Driftless took it seriously. As Mike mentioned in his response, my review helped them identify an issue in the kitchen, and they've already taken steps to correct it. That kind of responsiveness and accountability goes a long way. It's clear they're committed to delivering a great experience, and they definitely won this foodie's loyalty. Looking forward to coming back! Original: I first heard about Driftless Pizza during a live radio event, and the menu piqued my curiosity--especially the appetizers. I ended up trying three: the bruschetta was fresh and flavorful, easily the highlight. The pizza bites were perfectly cooked with a rich, delicious sauce, and the bistro salad, while unremarkable, was a decent side. That said, based on the menu, I don't have much desire to try their specialty pizzas. The combinations, while creative, just aren't all that enticing to me personally. I might bring the kids back sometime to see if they enjoy a basic pepperoni pizza. The Burrata on the appetizer menu also caught my eye--I'd definitely consider coming back to try that. The food overall is solid, but a few things hold this place back from standing out. The ambiance is nothing special--clean and comfortable, but not memorable. Our waiter, David, made the experience a bit awkward by standing too close and staring, then disappearing completely after the food was delivered until it was time to pay. No drink refills were offered, which was another small but noticeable miss in service. One more knock: there's no way to order dinner to go. Online ordering is shut down between 5-8 PM, which is frustrating if you were hoping to grab something on the way home. It's not a bad place to eat--definitely worth a visit for the food--but it's not going to be a standout pizza spot in Dubuque either. read more

Driftless Pizza Company Millwork District, Dubuque Some meals are good. Some are memorable. And every now and then, you stumble into a table where time politely slows down and lets the food speak first. That was today at Driftless Pizza Company in the Millwork District, where we gathered to celebrate my partner's father's birthday--and ended up celebrating pizza itself. Let's get this out of the way: I make pizza. I'm picky. Borderline unreasonable. Dough texture, sauce balance, cheese melt--I notice everything. Driftless didn't just meet that bar, it leaned on it with confidence and a grin. We started with the Tie Dye, a Detroit-style beauty that arrives like edible architecture. Thick, airy crumb with those glorious caramelized edges that crunch before yielding to pillowy softness. The sauce situation here is inspired madness in the best way: classic red sauce, silky vodka sauce, and bright, herbaceous pesto swirling together like a Renaissance painting you're allowed to eat. The cheese blend blankets everything in a rich, savory hug--stretchy, browned just right, indulgent without being heavy. Each bite feels composed, intentional, and deeply satisfying. Then came The Works, a New York-style pie that understands the assignment. Thin but not flimsy, foldable with that perfect balance of chew and snap. Loaded--but never sloppy--with toppings that taste fresh, well-seasoned, and evenly distributed so every slice delivers the full experience. This is the kind of pizza that reminds you why New York style became a standard in the first place. And the sleeper hit--the New York-style cheese. No distractions. No hiding places. Just dough, sauce, and cheese, laid bare. The crust had character, the sauce was bright and balanced, and the cheese melted into that ideal state between creamy and elastic. It takes confidence to serve a plain cheese pizza like this--and Driftless has earned it. Beyond the pies, the atmosphere hums with warmth. The Millwork District backdrop adds a modern, communal energy that feels celebratory without being loud. It's the kind of place where birthdays feel special, conversations linger, and plates come back empty. Calling this "amazing" feels insufficient. Driftless Pizza Company is thoughtful, skilled, and deeply respectful of the craft. For someone who lives and breathes pizza, this was a close second to my own--and that's the highest praise I know how to give. If you love pizza, really love it, this place isn't optional. It's essential. read more

I just enjoyed my third dinner at driftless Pizza. I want to recognize my server, Emma! Here's why, from the moment I walked in until my check was ready. I had fantastic service. She has a great attitude, very attentive, knows the menu front to back. Emma works hard and at the same time carries on a conversation. She could converse with a janitor or a CEO. The other staff I encountered was wonderful as well. I travel a lot for business and very, very seldom do I give a response on Yelp to anything. Emma deserves to be recognized and if I owned the business, I would give her a sizable increase in pay to hang onto her! I'm not sure who her boss or the owner is but they are free to contact me privately to verify this. Thank you. Jim read more

Great Detroit style pizza. Drinks were delicious and decently priced. Service was great as well. Very cool place!

I will not come here again or ever recommend it. We suggested to eat here with another couple because we had a good experience the first time. Just like other restaurants that were a flash in the pan in Dubuque this place will be the same. Service was average, pizza was just OK, nothing great. We ordered our pizzas at the same time. It took a long time for our pizza to come out. When the waitress brough us our pizza, she told us their pizza was burnt and they were making another one. Our pizza was cold when she brought it out. After waiting 25 minutes, they told the waitress to cancel their order but she brought the pizza out anyway. The waitress or manager didn't offer to comp the pizza until we had to ask. Really, the pizza wasn't much better than Casey's and differently worth the wait. read more
