We were visiting Galena from Chicago for our son's third birthday. I did a Yelp search for bakeries…read morenearby and came across Triple Tier Bakery. She was so accommodating and easy to work with. She made an amazing Spider-man cake in 2 days notice and it was delicious! Definitely worth the 25 minute drive from Galena. Wish she was closer to Chicago - I would be a regular customer.

She provided excellent guidance in making decisions on the choices. We provided a photo of what we were looking for and the results surpassed our expectations. Tiffany set up the cake and cupcakes in such a beautiful manner, with special touches. Three key points in working with Triple Tier: 1. Through our interactions, her questions, and how accommodating Tiffany was, the care and attention she provided made it clear she really wanted to do her part to make sure the event was wonderful. We live three hours away and were able to take care of all the details through phone/email/text. 2. As stated the end product was beautiful and exceeded expectations. We ordered vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake cupcakes. There was a light dusting of cinnamon on the carrot cake frosting making it easy to tell them apart. The attention to detail was wonderful. 3. The actual taste of the cake and cupcakes was amazing. The flavor of each was distinct and delicious. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet. I have no idea how she did it, but the bride and groom wanted a marble cake and it was marbled. It looked like marble, not like traditional bakery marble cake. After tasting the cake, they both remarked "Ok that is a really good cake!" I highly recommend Triple Tier - We have a favorite bakery where we live and the Triple Tier cake and cupcakes surpassed the deliciousness of our local expert.

I was a bit disappointed given the hype here on Yelp. It was simply ok. The strength of my rating…read morelies in their maple bar (or long john, as they call them here in the Midwest). It's hard to find one around here anyway--in all the time I've lived in Chicago I have only found them a few times, and usually they have a stop of bacon on them (yuck), so finding one that was true to origins made me happy. And it was pretty good! It was pretty fluffy, and I've had ones that are much more dense and not as tasty. The cinnamon roll was just ok. I think that's mostly because I didn't like the icing; I think it was a pretty simple one made of powdered sugar, but I prefer a different type. The maple frosted fritter was disappointing. The woman working was nice enough. They did have lots of items to choose from and I couldn't decide so that's why I got a few things to haves a few bites of each. The price was outstanding, and that was nice too! They have lots of breads here, as well as hamburger and hot dog buns, and if I was heading to a picnic I'd get some to take along.

But of course while waiting in line I was overtaken by a bakery trance....I ended up with a loaf of whole-wheat sandwich bread, a bag of snickerdoodle cookies, a bag of chocolate chip cookies and four cream-filled donuts. The whole take was only around $17.00. Incredible price and incredible product! It's a good thing I don't live nearby....

Okay, it's a little weird, but not bad once you wrap your head around it. You order online, and…read morethen you pick up at Falbo's pizza on Kennedy Road. See, that wasn't so hard! But it's unusual, so I wasn't sure at first how this was going to go. I got chocolate chip cookies and a loaf of cinnamon bread. (Sweet tooth. He bakes savory and gluten-free items, too.) The cookies are great - more on the chewy than crispy side at first. But then they get crunchy . . . if you don't finish them right away. But the cinnamon bread . . . oh my g*d! Have you ever seen a loaf of bread that was so beautiful, such a work of art, that you didn't want to slice into it? Neither have I, until today. I was worried that it was going to be overpoweringly sugary but it's *not*. Mark, the owner, tells me that it's ambrosial as French toast, but I just had a heel, plain, untoasted, unbuttered, and it was perfect in taste and texture. And the customer service! was superb. This was my first order. It was ready early. Mark let me know I could pick it up the next day as scheduled, or pick it up early. Delayed gratification builds character, but I couldn't wait. It was good to meet him and have a little chat. Very enthusiastic about his work, very accommodating - AND he and Falbo help to feed our homeless neighbors with good food, so he's a good Dubuquer, too.
