I'll be honest, after leaving their store I was a bit skeptical about whether or not I would come back because I felt like it was just too expensive. I paid $17 for 2 regular cupcakes and a Doggie Cupcake. I left kind of feeling cheated and really hoped the price would be worth it. When I came home and tried what my husband and I chose, we were pretty amazed! I got the creme brulee with an extra frosting. I was scared it would be too sweet but it was literally so perfect. They torched top of the cupcake it was perfectly crunchy and not too sweet. The cake consistency was not too heavy either. My husband ordered the cookies and cream cupcake and he also agreed the consistency was unlike any other cake we've tried. As for the doggie cupcake, it was the same size as a human cupcake and smells like peanut butter. My husky seemed to love it! The location is in an odd business center. Final day of summer had me craving sweets today. I decided to fulfill a long overdue bookmark and try Dreamy Creations. The tiny cupcake shop is located off the beaten path near Tampa Ave on Business Center drive. It's tucked inside a small warehouse and very unpretentious. Without the sign from the street guiding you, it's easily missable. There were a number of visual-pleasing cupcakes in the case. All reasonably priced at $3.75. I ordered the creme brûlée and black/white. Both were okay and average in my opinion. Though the cake was moist, little fluffy, just the right density to its body, the creativity and taste were lacking. Not a layer of custard and crispy shell texture was on creme brûlée, definitely lacking in character. They also serve frozen custard in a cup (aka "cloud") which can be topped with scrumptious assortment of toppings, including a cupcake. Of course, nothing says summer like a delicious campfire smores cupcake which I decided to order in ice cream formation, called Frosted Cloud - $6.75. I crafted mine with cinnamon ice cream topped with churro bits. OMG! The cupcake ice cream was outstanding and the flavor profile was on point. Overall, I had mixed thoughts on my visits. Though some of their cupcakes didn't win me over, the cloud creation was an enjoyable treat. I tried this place out not really knowing anything about it. I was in the area and saw the sign across the street and had to stop in. I ordered 6 mini cupcakes- strawberry, birthday cake, and cookies & cream (can't remember the exact names). There really wasn't a variety to choose from as there were only a few minis left. My sister lives in the area and has wanted to try Dreamy Creations for a while. They won Cupcake Wars twice and my sister is a cupcake junky. You wont find the price anywhere on the truck in Playa Vista, and no wonder, most people would simply walk away if there was a visible price list. My head perked up when I saw on Cupcake Wars that this bakery was from Northridge. It's kind of cute how they use storage space for its shop. The space is really tiny inside but it is really cute. It's cool how they play the CW show on the TV inside. I love the treats so much that I came twice in three days. Their desserts are so moist and homemade... The first time I came I ended up buying six minis and four large cupcakes. The large cupcakes are 3.75 apiece and the minis are two dollars apiece. I tried the creme brulee cupcake which I'll admit is decadent. My favorites are the birthday cake flavor and the seasonal banana pumpkin cupcake. Both are positively sinful! They had their food truck or should I say Cupcake truck. I was hooked on them. So I had to go to their store location. Finding this is tricky because their bakerey is near warehouses. In the front driveway entrance you will see a sign as well. Parking is sometimes a hassle because of trucks coming in and out but that's the only thing to complain about. The inside is very small and cozy they have their cupcakes in cases. They have different flavors and sizes. My favorite is Red Velvet and Birthday Cake. My wife loves this places as we because they offer vegan Cupcakes. They are just as good. What I like about this place is they have different flavors each month. We walked here the first time we came and were in shock haha It's so cute, a tiny room with cupcakes displayed, a menu on the wall and a little peek into their kitchen area. I was celebrating my dog Hazel's 6th birthday and almost a year after my first visit, I could think of no other place to get my dog cakes and cupcakes from than Dreamy Creations. I found that they do deliveries from Eat24 and GrubHub which was very convenient. I ordered several cupcakes in the Creme Brulee, Campfire, Cookies and Cream, Birthday Cake, and Banana Caramel Chip flavors as well as a mini strawberry cupcake and a mini dog cake. Apparently, they stopped selling the mini dog cakes even though it is listed on both delivery sites as well as their own website. They still have the dog cupcakes so I opted for that. (I considered taking a star off for the misinformation, but the constant communication from the store owner showed that she cared and I really appreciate that). Now..the true reason for this 5 star review: those cupcakes are to die for! The Creme Brulee was a hit yet again and it tasted even better than I remember. That custard was decadent and the caramelized sugar on top added the perfect sweet crunch. This was my first time trying the Campfire Cupcake (a vanilla cake topped with a caramel frosting and toasted marshmallows) and I am in love! The Cookies and Cream was very yummy as well. Didn't get to try the other flavors as my guests devoured them quickly. Birthday girl gobbled hers up in a second as well. The cupcake itself was pretty looking and packaged in a simple but cute white box. It was a mixture of chocolate and vanilla with a layer of creme topped with cookie crumbs. The cake itself was fresh, fluffy, moist, and had the perfect texture to melt perfectly in my mouth and definitely packed with flavor. The creme was not overly sweet--just perfect.
