However, I've noticed they may selectively choose which customers to serve, which hasn't been an issue for me--until today. I was in a rush, and my mother needed a manicure and pedicure, so naturally, I chose this salon. During my mom's appointment, I decided I would also get my eyebrows waxed. I informed the staff, and although they acknowledged my request, no one came to service me. I assumed they were waiting for the person who handles waxing. Later, my mom asked if I was still getting my eyebrows done, but at that point, I replied "never mind" and went to sit in the car. To my shock, the technician doing my mom's nails mentioned that they were prejudiced against me because of my skin color, saying I was "too dark." When my mom asked why they were servicing her, they replied that it was because she was light-skinned. My mother was so upset by this blatant discrimination that she left without getting her eyebrows done either. It's truly disheartening to experience this kind of treatment, especially in 2024. I will be telling everyone I know about this, as it's clear they don't welcome dark-skinned people. I've lived in Hammond the last 4 years and this is the first..smh

Update from about a month post mani @ Rio Nails. I'm still fuming about the service and…read moredestruction that Linda did to my nails. After removing the existing dip by "popping them off" without any warning, my nails were so damaged because my natural nail had been separated and caused major damage. My nails are normally strong and healthy but after the latest visit to Rio Nails I had to cut them all back and file the top where it was splitting. This salon has always been my go to and I have been a good customer and loved the services provided for many years. I recently went in and had to wait over one hour before Linda started my nails. When she started by trying to cut my nails with the old dip on them and then proceeded to remove the nails by popping them off which was painful and destructive to my nails (a month later). They looked horrible and I was appalled at the way she treated me because I complained about being bumped to last. This is not the first time I had to wait for others to finish first. I didn't want to write this review but I could not believe she treated a long time customer like that. It wasn't even the wait, but rather her actions when doing my nails. I will not be going back to this salon again. No one should have to pay those prices for service like that! Sorry Linda but your behavior was rude and unprofessional. Pedicure was great as always, but even the tech looked shocked at the way I was being treated.

The pedicures are soothing and relaxing. The materials used are sanitized or brand new for each customer. This is my favorite salon. I love Emily and her expert staff.
