Update from about a month post mani @ Rio Nails. I'm still fuming about the service and destruction that Linda did to my nails. After removing the existing dip by "popping them off" without any warning, my nails were so damaged because my natural nail had been separated and caused major damage. My nails are normally strong and healthy but after the latest visit to Rio Nails I had to cut them all back and file the top where it was splitting. This salon has always been my go to and I have been a good customer and loved the services provided for many years. I recently went in and had to wait over one hour before Linda started my nails. When she started by trying to cut my nails with the old dip on them and then proceeded to remove the nails by popping them off which was painful and destructive to my nails (a month later). They looked horrible and I was appalled at the way she treated me because I complained about being bumped to last. This is not the first time I had to wait for others to finish first. I didn't want to write this review but I could not believe she treated a long time customer like that. It wasn't even the wait, but rather her actions when doing my nails. I will not be going back to this salon again. No one should have to pay those prices for service like that! Sorry Linda but your behavior was rude and unprofessional. Pedicure was great as always, but even the tech looked shocked at the way I was being treated. read more

I don't normally write reviews unless I am super pleased with something, but this time unfortunately, it is quite the opposite. After a hectic weekend, I went to Rio Nail Spa to unwind and relax a bit. After all, anyone who gets their mani/pedi's done in Mandeville area knows that they aren't cheap. We are either paying for the relaxation and pampering, or the nail job is exceptional, or optimally BOTH. I got neither. Mind you, the place was largely empty, except for one or two folks who were already there, but it was not hectic in there AT ALL. I asked for a simple, single color. I sat down and no one asked me what type of pedicure I wanted, it just started. I was asked if I wanted gel on my hands, that's it. I was rushed through what was perhaps the most bizarre and fast mani/pedi of my life. The lady who did my service (didn't get her name) actually dropped and shattered a bottle of clear polish because she was rushing so much. Was she going for a speed record? I have no idea. No relaxing massage, just fast, fast, fast get it done. I am more stressed out now than I was when I went in. I attempted to make polite conversation, hoping that my service provider would realize that I am a human, not a practice mannequin, but she was getting it over with as quickly as possible. She did respond politely to me, when I said I liked her nails, but then she went right back to the speedy approach. Not relaxing at all. The payment experience was also rushed, and I ended up tipping far more than the service warranted because I was trying to do math in my head and she stood there with her hand on the bill and said "sign it". I think I was stunned, so rather than complain, I paid and then left. With tip it was $81.00. I have been to this nail spa before, and it was a very different experience. I even brought my daughter with me for mother/daughter relaxation time. I know every business can have a bad day, but this was ridiculous. Unfortunately, I feel I didn't truly get what I paid for. It was just an average job on the nails too. Could have, and in hindsight, should have done it myself. Again, I realize I should have said something then and there, (I normally would) but I went there for some recovery time after a busy weekend, so that just wasn't in me today. So I wrote this review. All I can give you is my advice that if you feel your service is going at the speed of light, speak up. Today they lost my business. read more

Today was the day I finally had to do this. This is my neighborhood nail salon. ( you know the one in the old marble slab ice cream shop) Over the past 6 months they have had a not so steady decline. I had continued to go because the use CND Shallac brand for gel nails. I do not find that the other brands hold as well. I get 2 manicures and 2 pedicures a month at the least so I am no novice. So here is how the decline progresses: Month 1- the owner has her child in the shop all day . Not so bad, he is a cute kid and maybe the babysitter keeps canceling. Month 2- and 3- she eats noodles while doing my manicure And her son is pulling at my pants. Month 4- I know they don't sanitize as highly as other salons but this time she did not even spray her tools between myself and the last client Month 5- they star to thin out the Shallac in warm water bowls to save on polish and get the last drop. This process makes the polish streak and bubble. And now for today! The kicker! While clipping my nails she ( the owner) cut so deeply into my cuticles that my nail beds pooled with blood. 3 nails dripping and pooling blood hurting like hell. She quickly squirts the antiseptic on my bloody nails then proceeds to viciously spray down all the tools she used. 8 hours later as I type it hurts, I'm fact I'm pecking this out now. I feel really sorry for this couple because like many of us they struggle to make it. Sorry I had to do this but if you read it now you know why business is slow for you. There is usually a wait about 4 salons in the area. The wait Is because they do an awesome job! Ohh and now the new place in Chenier uses Shallac! read more

This place is awesome and these girls know how to have a good time. Every time I've gone I just walk in and they get right on it. I have had my nails done there about a dozen times with no issues. Powder dip is my favorite. read more

You would think that a brand new salon opening would be a lot more professional and on top of their game. Three days after a new set I had one nail break off and another crack. I went back in to get it fixed. Four days later another nail breaks off. I never have this issue so it must be because of the poor quality of their materials. read more

I recently got a Shellac manicure at this nail spa and I am very disappointed. The nail tools are not well sanitized and as a result I have a painful infection on one of my fingers. The tools are only lightly sprayed with alcohol in between clients. Also when my nails were being buffed the manicurist cut my skin. She said this was because it was a new buffer/file. She then spritzed my fingers with alcohol which really began to burn the cut. I would not recommend this nail salon. read more

I got my nails done here, I got simple refill acrylic and of all things ONE DAY LATER NOT EVEN 24 HOURS. My nails is chipped. I have done nothing. IT WAS CHIPPED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I get them done regularly and all I have to say was the lady was pushy and in a way rude, hardly any color options, and pics people said were from there were not because they "never carried that shade." That's disappointing. I spent $60. Never going back, my nails look like crap. read more

Would not recommend this place. They completely rushed through my services even though me and my two friends were the only people in the building. My gel manicure came out lumpy, and the technician made my cuticles bleed on several fingers. The technicians were extremely rude - swatting our hands and barking orders at us while doing our nails. The prices are way to high for the bad service and subpar nails. Go somewhere else. read more

Great employees but quality was not good. I got gel nails and they started chipping and peeling off within a couple of days. I've gotten gel nails plenty of times and this doesn't happen until at least 3 weeks after getting them done. They also didn't paint my nails to the cuticle-they left a little gap. I tried calling several times over the next few days to ask if I can come in and get my nails redone but no answer each time. It's a shame since the employees are so nice. Not worth it. read more

Clean place, cool atmosphere, smells good-not the typical chemical smell. Cool set up for the pedicure chairs. Massage was short and ingrown nails/hang nails or thick skin on side of nails/cuticles weren't really treated; barely touched the surface. Also the underneath of the nails wasn't skimmed with that dirt removing me tool. The nail tech dropped the tool on the ground mid manicure and continued to use it on my nails without sanitizing it. That was a turn off. I've had better manicures and pedicures but it wasn't bad. read more

"Regulars" were greeted and treated cheerfully...not so much with a first time visitor. Massage chair was not working and actually had a piece of equipment jabbing into my back to the point that I had to put the pillow behind my back for relief. The soaking tub was colorful and bubbly, but the pedicure was very disappointing. My preteen granddaughter requested a flower or heart design on one nail and was told "no one here can do that". One coat of color and a clear top coat. No conversation...I felt like we were a bother. No "thanks", no "come again". Nail polish is already flaking off after a few days. I do not recommend and will not return. read more

I went in this morning after eating at Voodoo BBQ, might as well right? Well, the wait wasn't long, and the workers were really nice. I got a shellac manicure which turned out great. Overall I like this place, and might become a regular customer. read more
