After that session, he completely cut contact--ignoring studio calls and direct messages while leaving the piece unfinished and continuing to post new flash online.

I was referred to Kevin at Let It Bleed by a friend, and unfortunately my experience was terrible…read moreand traumatic. Every time I worked with Kevin, he was late. At one appointment, I showed up early and still waited over an hour and a half while he got set up, and I was charged for that time. I also had issues with his drawing. I ended up having to redraw some of the details myself to get the design closer to what I wanted/ the inspo photo. After he completed the outline, Kevin texted me multiple times asking me to come back to finish the tattoo. I was already hesitant, but I eventually agreed. Before the appointment, I sent him multiple inspiration photos showing exactly what I wanted for the shading: primarily an outlined tattoo with light shading, contrast, variation, and plenty of negative space. I was lying down while he worked, so I couldn't see what he was doing. About an hour in, I finally looked at the tattoo and was honestly horrified. Instead of the light shading we had discussed, large portions of the outlines had been filled in with heavy black ink. It looked like giant blocks of black to me. There was almost no negative space or variation, and it was completely different from the references and direction I had given him. When I told Kevin this was not what I wanted, his attitude immediately changed. To make the experience worse, I was ultimately charged hundreds of dollars more than I expected. The shop itself didn't make the experience any better. In my experience, it was dusty and grimy, and people regularly came in directly off the street while I was there. I also personally witnessed another tattooer at the shop, Max, shove a homeless man to the ground outside after the man had already left the shop. It was incredibly uncomfortable to witness. Overall, I deeply regret trusting Kevin with my tattoo. Between the lateness, being charged while waiting for him to set up, having to correct parts of the drawing myself, the finished work being drastically different from what I requested, his reaction when I spoke up, and the amount I was charged, I would absolutely not return. For me, Let It Bleed was the definition of a struggling tattoo shop.

If you want a cheap piece of flash, go somewhere else. This isn't a shop you just walk into to off the street and get a tramp stamp at. Shop itself has a great vibe. Deanna, Mez and Chris are all super awesome folks. They make you feel as comfy as possible. A definite North Beach fixture.

Okay so 15 years ago I had surgery on my chest (keyword: transman, ftm, transguy, transgender male, you get the idea) and my nipples did not stay in tact. They actually feel off in front of me in the shower with the scabs. What a nightmare. Reconstructing new nipples was not possible or ideal with my surgeon so I've been living with flat nipples and discolored areolas for the last 15 years. I really thought I had NO hope until I found Sasha. Angels sing please, wait for it and rejoice. I've been wanting to do 3D nipple tattooing and areola re-pigmenting for awhile but was 1. not in the best state of health and 2. very very very nervous. Well today, we finally made this happen. I got an appointment schedule over a month in advance. I put down a $100 deposit via Pay Pal. I waited and panicked and then the big day came. I got a ride down to SF. Sasha's shop is on the 17th floor of a building in Union Square. There's a parking garage a block away. It cost $35 and gets you up to 12 hours in the lot. You are not going to find street parking so if you're driving you will want to fork out $35 and be happy your car is safe with only a block to walk! Sasha gave me complete instructions and directions ahead of time. She is VERY professional and organized with her scheduling and timing. The office she works out of is awesome! The entire office and outdoor patio (with wild beautiful birds and parrots might I add) has a total zen approach. The front desk folks were also REALLY NICE and totally trans/queer friendly. Sasha's room was very clean with a sitting area for guests. She was extremely polite, patient, compassionate and thorough to walk me through the ENTIRE process and 1. give me voice throughout it all and 2. check in frequently to see how I was doing. Nipple and areola shopping is quite fun! I got to pick the size, shape and color variation to design on my chest. Boom! I feel so Hollywood now ;) She is extremely sterile and showed me ALL the needles she was using before and as she was using them. Everything from the office, her station, the tattoo bed, frequent changing of gloves, packaged needles, organized ink palettes, fresh paper towels, rubbing alcohol, ETC were CLEAN. I really appreciated how intuitive she was like when I held my breath during bits of pain and she could feel me tense up and gently remind me to breathe. I was excited and anxious and nervous and emotional all at once but she eased me through EVERYTHING. May I also include she has a gentle hand so the needles don't feel like they are digging deeper than deep like some tattoo artists who put all their weight on their artistry hands. Pain level ... well this boy whimpered some but she did use some topical anesthetic after the skin had been broken into to help ease pain. It DID help some. My results, pre bandaging, were beautiful. The bandaging she used is really neat. It's waterproof and clear like a clear tape. I honestly can't stop staring at my new nips even if things are still bloody and bandaged up! I was given very detailed after care instructions which I will be meticulous about following. I can't wait to see the overall results. I'll be scheduling a touch up/follow up in a 1 1/2 months or so. I look forward to seeing her again! Cost breakdown for ME and what I got done: $700 total... that's $100 deposit then $450 the day of the tattoo and then I will pay $150 during our touch up + tip today and I'll tip again on the touch up. Don't forget to tip. Some artists will say you don't have to, don't listen! Tips for those new nips my friends! TIPS! 100% happy with my experience, actually happy is an understatement. I am enthralled like a unicorn catching rainbows and sprinkling glitter from the sky. Yes, indeed. I will recommend her in a HEARTBEAT to any other trans folks who need this procedure, cancer and mastectomy patients or just anyone in need of this kind of help. I was SO ASHAMED of my chest, a chest I fought so hard to learn to love post surgery but still deeply upset about what happened and the trauma from loosing my nipples to my feet in the shower (yikes, just imagine). Now I can live again. This is part 1 of my chest tattooing process (I'll be doing scar coverage with another artist since Sasha is not taking new decorative tattoo clients at this time) and then I will be free. You deserve to be free too. I hope you will consider Sasha and let her help you change your life, confidence and get your groove back!!!

I found this studio on www.expertise.com/ca/san-francisco/tattoos, which ranked the top twenty parlors in SF. The selection criteria (much like my own) was based on Reputation, Credibility (building customer confidence with licensing, accreditations, and awards), Experience, Availability and Professionalism. Safe to say, they exceeded all my expectations! I chose Renette based on her fantastic work on instagram ( https://www.dream-masters.com/renette ). Her sharp black and white line detail was exactly what I wanted. I arrived early, and she saw me straight away, and tolerated my indecisiveness with patience and kindness, in order to get the effect that I had in mind exactly right. The actual tattoo was my first, and barely felt any pain (except the ankle area, obviously haha). It was easy to take one's mind off of it with such an interesting person chatting to you, who had such a fab sense of humour (not to mention, a really cool style). It is always reassuring to see such beautiful ink on the person tattooing you, and Renette's own tattoos were testament to her excellent taste. Moreover, I made it very clear that thin lines were of paramount importance to me, and she clearly listened! Renette instructed me well on aftercare, and considering that this was my first tat, that was invaluable advice. I got the tattoo one week ago, and it is healing beautifully. Any faint redness had dissipated within 24 hours; it didn't bleed any ink after the first wrap; the Aquaphor Renette advised has kept it hydrated; it hasn't really scabbed, though the top layer is gently coming off as it should; it is sharp, black and clear as can be; most importantly, it has stayed completely sterile, and has barely even itched. Renette gave my design her own personal touch, giving the woman depicted a wry, defiant smile which perfectly encapsulated everything that I loved about my design already. I look at my tattoo with pride every day, and I could not be more thankful. As far as professionalism, experience and credibility go, Dream Masters are faultless. All the tattooers are licensed and certified by the San Francisco Health Department, have completed bloodborne pathogen training, and have been tested for Hepatitis and HIV. Dream Masters has won numerous awards including Best Tattoo Shop in San Francisco from 2013 to 2017, all of which stand proudly on their window display. This gave me a sense of reassurance and confidence in their skill even before I walked into their clean and professional work space. The price was extremely reasonable given the hour Renette spent on my design, and I would have happily paid more for such clean and precise work. As for Reputation? Dream Masters is exactly as the name states, a complete dream run by masters. The perfect surrealistic place to pick for my newest tattoo addition. I called first on the phone and talked to Chip who was helpful and courteous and booked my appointment after someone had canceled (score!). I came early and was delighted by the locale and aesthetic feel of the shop. Skateboards and metal guitars artfully decorated on walls that seemed to reach the heights of fog in San Francisco. I chatted with two staff members and then met Svetlyo the head tattoo artist that runs the business. He was very kind and animated about my project ideas and took my idea into a whimsical yet fitting direction and I was immediately impressed by his artistic soundness and intellect in aesthetic preparation of my tattoo. In audio engineering it is the "mastering" of audio that ties up and perfects every small detail and he did the same with my tattoo. After my consultation I booked my appointment for the actual tattooing. I came in excited at the artistic outcome of my dream coming to life in the ink. As he tattooed I realized that my sensitivity was a challenge. The inner part of my left arm was being tattooed and it is a VERY sensitive spot. Svetlyo was very patient and gave me a couple breaks. My sensitivity definitely slowed the process and I felt bad but the pain was inevitable. He tattooed as much as he could before I had to call it quits. I had to book another appointment to finish it. His concern for my well being was refreshing considering I have encountered a couple tattoo artists that could give two shits about being "in tune" with the customer and working with them to create a pleasant experience. Svetlyo actually only charged me for two hours when it took way longer to complete what he had done so far. I was astonished at his integrity and sympathy towards me as a customer. Really BIG brownie points. He finished my tattoo yesterday and I am so thrilled that I have such an amazing piece of art on my arm. In times of sadness that the tattoo represents I can also appreciate the beauty of the piece and remember the positivity and healing that this process has given me. Renette is truly a badass. She accepted a last minute opportunity to tattoo me on St. Patrick's Day 2017, and I am SO GLAD she did. First and foremost, this gal has mad artistic skills, but on top of that, she had a demeanor that can sometimes be lacking in tattoo artists in my personal experience. Though I met her that night, it was as if we were old friends. ARTWORK: My tattoo was good as it gets considering the literal last minute nature of my request! She tattooed a black and white lodgepole pine over my right ribs, and it was 100% awesome and exactly what I wanted. EXPERIENCE: From the moment I walked in, Svetlyo, the shop owner, was more than accommodating. I wasn't with anyone, but he took the time to make me in addition to everyone else in the shop feel SUPER comfortable which is what I feel to be the bare minimum of service at a tattoo parlor where you're about to get a permanent addition to your body. Additionally, we talked about everything under the sun, and there wasn't one moment in time where I felt that he was being disingenuous. Got my first tattoo from Svetlyo a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. He took awesome care of me from the first time I emailed to when I left the shop. To begin with, we ended up starting late because the font I wanted for my tat hadn't emailed through correctly. Oops on my part. Svetlyo was super patient while I tried to remember what it was called and find it. Everyone in the shop chatted and just had a good time. Once I found it he made sure it was the perfect size and placed the stencil exactly where I had envisioned. Even though this was a first tat I felt totally at ease and relaxed because of the awesome demeanor of Svetlyo. During the process he kept checking in to make sure I was ok. We chatted and I was even part of teaching while he showed a new apprentice how to do script. I enjoyed listening to his process and it showed his dedication to doing a perfect job. Svetlyo has a gentle touch and does grest work. The whole vibe of the shop is laid back and awesome. I would definitely recommend coming here, whether for a first tattoo or a fiftieth. This place is amazing! I came here for my first tattoo. I was looking for a tattoo artist who could do watercolor very well. The person who manages their email is extremely helpful! She recommended two artists and I ended up meeting Renette. Everyone I have interacted with that works at this place has been extremely friendly and made each step of getting my tattoo enjoyable. Anyway, Renette is amazing. She definitely is skilled at tattooing, esp watercolors. Well worth $200 an hour, esp since she works efficiently and beautifully. This was my first tattoo and I swear it did not hurt AT ALL. Their aftercare sheet has some typos and is tedious, but my tattoos (I got two in one day) healed beautifully and I am constantly complimented. To sum up/conclude: This place has friendly people who are definitely well worth the price. However, parking is a pain because almost everywhere is a meter or 2hr parking. Renette is the best!! She has made all my tattoo dreams come true. It's important to find a tattoo artist that you can trust. And I trust Renette to not only give a great tattoo but to also give her professional advice. Renette is awesome at placement. Placement can make or break a tattoo and she has perfectly placed all my tattoos. I love how she placed my bee to climb up my arm. I also appreciate how she takes possible future tattoos into consideration when placing. She also has great attention of detail and is extremely creative. She made my bee tattoo look very realistic with a personal touch. She always incorporates a person touch which I love. I went to Dream Masters this past month to get my first tattoo and Gabe, the artist with whom I worked, was wonderful! The shop was sterile and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Prior to the appointment I sent Gabe a bunch of pictures indicating what I liked and didn't like about various representations of what I wanted and when I arrived he had designed something that I instantly loved. (If I had wanted to change the design, he had said he would happily sit and work on the design with me.) This was in spite of the fact that what I wanted was not even remotely in Gabe's "normal" style. He is truly a talented artist. I was a nervous wreck, but he and Renette chatted with me throughout and made the entire process painless. My healing process has been extremely smooth, and sweet Gabe has been patient with my frequent questions. I cannot recommend Dream Masters and Gabe highly enough. read more

He paid attention to Cleanliness, style and of course his is highly artistic. The best part is that he is very personable and has a great sense of humor. Stumbled upon this place not expecting anything, stayed for the vibe. All the artists are extremely talented & so nice! So clean, very professional atmosphere while also being laid back and open to all. I was lucky to get Yaara to tattoo me, and she killed it! Not only is her tattooing amazing (especially for an apprentice), she also showed that she has a good eye & great people skills while adjusting the design to fit different parts of the body. i had the worst experience i've ever had a tattoo shop. One of my girls was getting some work done. Dave did an amazing job & i wanted him to blast my birthday tattoo for me. the owner Svetylo was absolutely uninviting, unfriendly, keep pointing at me for my having my service dog with me. (mind you that, that is completely illegal and unjust) just really made me feel unwelcome. I walked out & will never be spending my money here. Good Luck To You. read more

My husband worked with the shop to plan a couples tattoo as a surprise while we were vacationing here from Detroit. He's so indecisive but with the help of the shop, he nailed down a design in no time. Gabe was available for the afternoon and did a wonderful job. My friends and I were visiting San Francisco for 3 days and we decided to get tattoos to remember our time there. We were just walk-ins but they said most of the time you need an appointment. All the workers (Svetlyo, Dave & Brittany) are very generous and fun to hang around with. Their art is beautiful no doubt, Svetlyo's colors is amazing.
