    Piece done by Kat (@katbarrieau)

A bit of a biased review, I've gotten 3/3 of my tattoos done here and likely will return for my 4th. Now that said, there's a reason I've come here 3 times. Each tattoo was by a different artist from the shop and every experience was outstanding. All of the artists were very helpful and thorough when planning and placing, setting expectations and going at a pace that was comfortable for me. As someone with a lot of anxiety getting my first tattoo was extremely difficult, however with a big life event just happening, it felt fitting to memorialize the moment and working with Eric was perfect. I walked in on a random weekday, told him why I wanted the tattoo and within hours was in the shop placing the stencil. Throughout the tattoo he was very engaged but focused and really helped me get through the session, and the hurdle of tattoos in general. Max did my second piece, we iterated a little on the art but he was super accepting of what I wanted. I know it's my tattoo but it's also his art so I want to respect that. The process was in 3 steps, took a few hours but honestly after a few sections it flew by. Kat tattooed my 3rd and most recent piece. (Image included) I really loved her work shared online and was excited to see her join the shop. I had this concept/illustration of my tattoo and asked her if she would be interested in working on it but obviously with her style. She killed it, she also made a point to match the colors from my first 2 tattoos into the 3rd so that why they all blend well. Sitting in the session with her was super comfortable, anxiety left after a few minutes and couldn't be happier with the experience.

My childhood best friend and I decided to get matching tattoos while she is in town visiting. I did some Yelping and found this shop. They were available for our walk-in appointments and we chose some flash off the wall. Karl was our artist and did a great job. I got my piece on my shoulder blade and with his gentle hand, I had no issues at all with pain. The atmosphere was also fun. We had a good time laughing with Karl and Max. The shop is clean and I felt comfortable being tattooed here. I would definitely come back here for work in the future.

I got my first tattoo here by Eric about a decade ago in 2012. I was pretty young at the time but I remember feeling empowered and wanting to commemorate the death of my mom by getting an artistic symbol for her. Eric did a fantastic job and he was really nice. I came back a couple times to see Taler Nichols, she did several of the tattoos for me. Although she's no longer with the shop, but she was amazing and her time there speaks to the professionalism and caliber of the establishment. She did a lot of my arm tattoos and back as well in 2013-2014. I've never felt not welcomed or judged by anybody at the shop, I've always felt listened to and worked with. A tattoo is a lifelong commitment, it can be fun and random or it can be thoughtfully designed with purpose. It'll be a while since I get another tattoo but this reviews long overdue for a good shop that I trust. Clean, professional, and nice. Tips: I think you get what you give so definitely come in with ideas or reference pictures, do your research before hand, look at example works of artists, and communicate effectively. Listen to your artist on aftercare as well.

My husband and I stopped by Let It Bleed during a long weekend trip into San Francisco. I had an appointment with Evan scheduled the day we flew in. The tattoo took longer than we expected, but the end product was beyond awesome. Really clean lines and bright vivid colors. While my husband and I were waiting for my tattoo to be finished up, Evan, Max, and Eric had endless friendly conversations with us about music, dogs, places to eat, and a range of other topics. I had truly never been in a friendlier more inviting tattoo shop, and I've been to several over the years. My husband and I are from a small town in Alaska, so we were a little overwhelmed with the city to say the least. All three guys gave us recommendations on places to eat and things to see, but Eric took the time to write down several recommendations on a post-it note for my husband and me. After we left the shop, Evan reached out to let us know that he was available for help and other questions. Again, I really want to reiterate that my husband and I felt no intimidation or feeling of "not belonging" at Let It Bleed. We truly felt like valued customers and friends by the time we left the shop. In particular, I would recommend Evan to tattoo anyone who is looking for some quality and professional work. If we're ever in the city again, I would definitely get more work done by Evan at Let It Bleed.

The outcome! With Evan's personal little touches! I'm SO in love with it!!

I got a tattoo today on my neck done by the AMAZING Evan Weidner! It was my first tattoo above my chest and I was beyond nervous. But thankfully Evan responded to all my questions prior to our appointment via Instagram. He was beyond kind, and very straightforward nor did he force his opinions on me. Come the day of, 12/28/19, he was patient, neat, clean, and very intune with my wishes for my tattoo. I had him resize it a few times and never once did he huff or puff at me. He walked me through the entire process, what I would he feeling, how its expected to look etc. It didn't hurt as bad as I was expecting and I think partial of that was because Evan was so careful! It was a great experience with him, and the outcome was INCREDIBLY clean! The line work was STUNNING, and it was so professional (obviously haha) The shop itself was clean and organized and the other staff members seemed friendly enough though I didn't talk to them much. It was a fairly spacious place and organized! I will DEFINITELY be coming back to Evan at Let It Bleed!

"Gang" Tattoo by the awesome Eric Jones 2011.

When it came time to find a shop to get my Ladybugs "gang" tattoo, I decided to go with Let It Bleed. Some of my fellow hynas referred me because they had work done by Danny Boy. I thought Danny Boy's work was cool, but checked out all 3 artists and chose Eric Jones. It had been years since I had gotten a tattoo, so I was super concerned about whether or not he had a heavy hand. He quickly put me at ease! The work did not take long, I enjoyed the conversation, and my tattoo is awesome! I need to go back soon for a touch up. Tip- parking is a bitch. I know this is nothing new for SF natives, but this is something to keep in mind if you are coming from out of town. Ladybugs POR VIDA MAS! Thank you Eric Jones!

    I love my tattoo

I came in on a Sunday wanting a piece for my daughter, I got a sun with my daughters name in the middle and underneath I got "you are my sunshine". This song means a lot to both I and my daughter, I sung it to her every night as a baby while rocking her to sleep. Zac did my tattoo, He did an awesome job. He is literally one of the most humble tattoo artists I have ever met. Thank you for adding your personal touch to my tattoo

While meandering about Polk Street, I came upon the Let It Bleed Tattoo Parlor, which caught my eye w/ it's retro yet immaculate look. While I personally would probably never get a tattoo myself, I appreciate them when done artfully. Heck, I wear Ed Hardy ties after all. Random, unrelated tats are so ghetto/trailer to me. Besides, one must consider how the tat will look once you get old & saggy. :O Anyhow, Let It Bleed is owned by Eric Jones & is accompanied by fellow tattoo artists Taler Nicols & Danny Smith. Their work leans towrds 40's/50's retro. Santa's Yelper sez: Nothing. He's making a jerry-rigged tattoing device w/ a staple bound onto a #2 pencil w/ string & burnt black plastic for carbon. He's so McGuyver!

Just wanted to thank Zac Amendolia for being super talented and super friendly artist that he is! Extremely happy with my fresh tat! Now It will be even harder to refrain from getting more and more of those (already got two done by Mr Zac). Guess I should just give up and come back as soon as possible for more! Came back a year later to get the cutest little tat- thanks, Zack!

    Matching hearts. Taler is amazing!

Let It Bleed is the hidden gem of tattoo shops in the city. Talented and friendly artists. Available appointments within a reasonable amount of time. Overall, super professional and excellent customer service. Taler is an amazing artist to work with. I showed her photos of the tattoos I wanted and she sketched them out on the spot and tweaked them until I was happy with the final product. She is really sweet and friendly. I felt welcomed and taken care of during my whole session. I would definitely come back to her again in the future.

I got my first tattoo from Danny Boy today, and I am so in love with my new tattoo! I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and I must say that the cleanliness is impeccable. Danny was great with helping me feel comfortable, making sure I was happy with his drawing/placement, and is insanely talented. Another artist, Taler, was tattooing another client while I was there; and her work looked beautiful as well. Overall, Let it Bleed is clean, professional, located in a convenient area, and employs chill, talented artists. I will definitely be recommending Let it Bleed and Danny boy to all of my friends and family, and hope to return soon for some more ink.

I originally came in for a flash sale, but they overbooked and asked to move me to the following day. I let them know I would be out of town that morning, so they offered me the last appointment of the day and took my deposit. The next day, after reassessing my schedule, I realized I wouldn't be able to make it and informed them as soon as possible. I was told the deposit was non-refundable. I then asked if I could reschedule for another day, but they said no because it was part of the flash sale--even though the rescheduling was due to their overbooking. I also asked if the deposit could be applied toward a regular (non-flash sale) appointment, and that was declined as well. I ultimately kept the appointment, but the situation didn't sit well with me. While the artist did great work, I was disappointed in how the studio handled the booking and deposit policy.

Okay so 15 years ago I had surgery on my chest (keyword: transman, ftm, transguy, transgender male, you get the idea) and my nipples did not stay in tact. They actually feel off in front of me in the shower with the scabs. What a nightmare. Reconstructing new nipples was not possible or ideal with my surgeon so I've been living with flat nipples and discolored areolas for the last 15 years. I really thought I had NO hope until I found Sasha. Angels sing please, wait for it and rejoice. I've been wanting to do 3D nipple tattooing and areola re-pigmenting for awhile but was 1. not in the best state of health and 2. very very very nervous. Well today, we finally made this happen. I got an appointment schedule over a month in advance. I put down a $100 deposit via Pay Pal. I waited and panicked and then the big day came. I got a ride down to SF. Sasha's shop is on the 17th floor of a building in Union Square. There's a parking garage a block away. It cost $35 and gets you up to 12 hours in the lot. You are not going to find street parking so if you're driving you will want to fork out $35 and be happy your car is safe with only a block to walk! Sasha gave me complete instructions and directions ahead of time. She is VERY professional and organized with her scheduling and timing. The office she works out of is awesome! The entire office and outdoor patio (with wild beautiful birds and parrots might I add) has a total zen approach. The front desk folks were also REALLY NICE and totally trans/queer friendly. Sasha's room was very clean with a sitting area for guests. She was extremely polite, patient, compassionate and thorough to walk me through the ENTIRE process and 1. give me voice throughout it all and 2. check in frequently to see how I was doing. Nipple and areola shopping is quite fun! I got to pick the size, shape and color variation to design on my chest. Boom! I feel so Hollywood now ;) She is extremely sterile and showed me ALL the needles she was using before and as she was using them. Everything from the office, her station, the tattoo bed, frequent changing of gloves, packaged needles, organized ink palettes, fresh paper towels, rubbing alcohol, ETC were CLEAN. I really appreciated how intuitive she was like when I held my breath during bits of pain and she could feel me tense up and gently remind me to breathe. I was excited and anxious and nervous and emotional all at once but she eased me through EVERYTHING. May I also include she has a gentle hand so the needles don't feel like they are digging deeper than deep like some tattoo artists who put all their weight on their artistry hands. Pain level ... well this boy whimpered some but she did use some topical anesthetic after the skin had been broken into to help ease pain. It DID help some. My results, pre bandaging, were beautiful. The bandaging she used is really neat. It's waterproof and clear like a clear tape. I honestly can't stop staring at my new nips even if things are still bloody and bandaged up! I was given very detailed after care instructions which I will be meticulous about following. I can't wait to see the overall results. I'll be scheduling a touch up/follow up in a 1 1/2 months or so. I look forward to seeing her again! Cost breakdown for ME and what I got done: $700 total... that's $100 deposit then $450 the day of the tattoo and then I will pay $150 during our touch up + tip today and I'll tip again on the touch up. Don't forget to tip. Some artists will say you don't have to, don't listen! Tips for those new nips my friends! TIPS! 100% happy with my experience, actually happy is an understatement. I am enthralled like a unicorn catching rainbows and sprinkling glitter from the sky. Yes, indeed. I will recommend her in a HEARTBEAT to any other trans folks who need this procedure, cancer and mastectomy patients or just anyone in need of this kind of help. I was SO ASHAMED of my chest, a chest I fought so hard to learn to love post surgery but still deeply upset about what happened and the trauma from loosing my nipples to my feet in the shower (yikes, just imagine). Now I can live again. This is part 1 of my chest tattooing process (I'll be doing scar coverage with another artist since Sasha is not taking new decorative tattoo clients at this time) and then I will be free. You deserve to be free too. I hope you will consider Sasha and let her help you change your life, confidence and get your groove back!!!
