Leaky roof is no longer leaking and my kitchen sink drains like a dream. They did a fantastic job on the plaster repair, which included putting up drywall and chairrailing and wainscoting (at least I think that is what it's called. . it's the square boxes made with thin wood pieces). Whatever it is called it looks awesome. The workers involved me in all decisions regarding the details so the final outcome would be exactly what I wanted. My only regret is that I decided to do the painting myself. For the time I spent on painting, I should have just had Var Construction do it for me (silly girl). They were prompt, NEAT, and very nice. Him being questioned about his work and billing caused him to quit, hooray. Fortunately, the majority of his bill was not paid prior to him walking out. Save yourself many headaches, find a different contractor.

Every subsequent contractor we've had in to assess the remaining job has remarked on the POOR QUALITY of his workmanship. We are still finding mistakes that need to be fixed (electric outlet pulled out of the wall, toe kick board in wrong spot). If you want a well-done remodel, DO NOT HIRE.

The mahogany storm and screen door I ordered was built to a high standard and met specifications…read more However, communications with the owner around (a) delivery and (b) a defect in the glass storm insert left something to be desired. The delivery, which obviously required someone to be home, was two hours late with no notification from the company. The storm glass insert was not true to spec because the gap between it and the enclosing molding was not uniform. Why wasn't this checked at the shop beforehand? Unlike the delivery man, who made every effort to accommodate me, the owner was unapologetic about the lack of communication for the delay. More importantly, he would only consider fixing the problem if the door and the glass and screen inserts were returned to the shop, in which case it would be my responsibility to retrieve them. He wouldn't pay for a second delivery. He would rather cancel the deal and eat the cost of the goods. Having to pick up the door myself was a non-starter. I don't have a suitable vehicle, which is why I paid for delivery in the first place. The only other option he offered was to have the door and inserts returned to the shop and refund my money in full. Then I would have had to start my search over again and suffer a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks or more, so my front entry wouldn't be well prepared for the onset of cold weather. It fell to me to be the creative and save the deal by suggesting he give me a discount in return for which I would live with the defect. It seemed like he would rather have lost the sale than compromise. We came to terms, but the whole process was unnecessarily stressful.

After 8 days and no call from them, I called on a Friday and was told that they had been there for 2 days and could be picked up. I asked why I wasn't contacted and was told "we don't do that". Horrible customer service. I checked the website for their hours of operation and saw that they were open on Saturday. I went on Saturday and the parts counter was closed but the showroom was open. I entered the showroom and asked the sales person if I could pick up my items. He told me no, the items had to be picked up at the counter. When I asked why there is no info on the websi about the parts counter being closed, he told me that they were trying to update the website for months but still hadn't done so.
