We HIGHLY recommend for any event and thank you so much Ma and Pop Food Truck for all you did for us. That family-owned feeling and food went a long way with us. Can't wait for the next event!

Today they rolled into my office parking lot with an oxtail special, a plate loaded with fall-apart oxtails, jerk rice, green beans, and cornbread. I added mac and cheese because a good carb plan requires commitment. Plastic utensils seemed like a bad match for oxtails, but these bones surrendered at the slightest nudge. The meat was rich and silky, full of flavor, and entirely too good for a desk lunch. The sides were no afterthought. The mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent, the green beans properly seasoned, the jerk rice fragrant and bold though a few grains resisted the bite, and the cornbread leaned sweet, closer to cake than bread, in a way that felt like dessert was already built in. You could pass by this truck without a second glance, but you'd miss a meal that demands your attention. 4.5 out of 5 stars Soul food this good deserves a table, not a parking lot.

They didn't have wings ready yet which was really disappointing as I had read they were excellent. The BBQ sauce was thinner and more tart than we prefer, but again, not bad. Inside the building was a bit crowded and confusing. The drink machine is right in the middle of where you stand in line to order so that was a bit of a hassle. Inside tables were full so we ate outside, not a great view, but thankfully it wasn't too hot out. The staff were friendly enough and the food was better than a lot of places though a bit in the pricey side.

We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

Well, the owner of the food truck (Will) is a Jacksonville'n. He wanted to go home and give his home town Jax peeps a lil sumthin sumthin of what they have to offer, Hawaiian and Filipino food. So on their first trial, they set camp just right outside the Orange Park Mall parking lot....and it was a hit. The smell and aroma alone coming out of their roof vents was enough to attract you to the truck like Zombies to noises. Their menu is pretty simple. The top sellers here are their Signature Plates: Huli Huli Chicken, Teriyaki Beef and Kalua Pork. I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken (5/5), Kalua Pork (5/5), Spicy Spam Musubi (5/5) and Regular Spam Musubi (4/5)...all fantastic in their own rights. All in all, I foresee big things happening for this truck. Great tasting, delicious, yummy tummy food. You can follow them on Instagram for more info and on site locations. Additionally, future plans include opening up 3-4 more food trucks in the future. Until we meet again S&S...

So I ordered a Spam Musubi, the Huli-Huli Chicken plate lunch and the Kal-Bi Rib plate lunch. The proteins had a good char on them which is important. The Kal Bi ribs were very tasty just like I remembers them and the boneless Huli-Huli chicken had a nice sweet taste to it. The rice was made in a rice cooker so of course perfect and the Mac salad was good - a bit too creamy for my taste but the best I've had on the mainland. Yes, I'm talking about eating at the food truck called On the Fly. Calling it a food truck is in this number, I'm not sure what you would call. It is fabulous. Now let's start off with the negatives, parking is not as easy as it is for most lunch places, but it's really not that bad if you know what you're doing. There are plenty of slots on the street before you get to the restaurant, and if you called ahead and are just picking up then you can park in the reserve lot, where On the Fly is located. Now these spaces are reserved for lawyers going to the courthouse, which is nearby. So you can't park there here all day, but if you're just stopping in for lunch or if you've called ahead or just picking up takeout, then you should be fine. If you're in someone's spot, the first place to look is the restaurant, so just know you may have to move fairly quickly. For me, I like to call in advance, place my order, and then Park in one of the spaces. Then I pick up my food and go and I'm only there for five minutes. Now that that's all out of the way, let's talk about some of the best food that you will have in Jaxonville. On the Fly sauce - I think this is made by a team of leprechauns they keep in the back of the food truck. Because it comes out so fresh, so delicious, and if they sold it by the gallon, I would be numero Uno in buying it. Blue chips - a great starter chips and blue cheese, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Firecracker Sesame seared Tuna - another solid performer, it has some kick to it, although the tuna is always perfectly cooked. Sweet and spicy quesadilla - oh my God, this dishes as close to heaven as I think I will ever get to. The chicken is so tender and put into a tortilla with caramelized onions, banana peppers, and covered in On the Fly sauce. I don't know how but this works so well you cannot imagine. By the time we circled back around there was a line, naturally. They offered 3 Sangrias. Mexican Fiesta- Red wine, brandy, lemons, oranges, limes, pears, apples, sprite & garnished with orange peel. Passion Fruit Sangria- Riesling, simple syrup, lime, oranges juice, pureed passion fruit, blackberries, ginger & garnished with lemon twist. Summer sunset- a blend of the Mexican Fiesta and the Passion Fruit Sangria. We went with one each of the original blends. One Mexican Fiesta- everything you expect in a sangria & one Passion Fruit Sangria- a refreshing twist on a white sangria! That set me back about $32. Took about 5-10 minutes to get the order, and paid. The turkey leg was the only thing that I "enjoyed". My wife didn't care for anything. Ribs and Chicken didn't hit the spot. Baked beans had cinnamon in it - I actually like that. Mac N Cheese was a total miss. The green beans had to be canned and the seasoning used was too salty for my taste. In addition - The meat portion was quite limited.
