5 STARS -- HONESTY AND INTEGRITY ALL THE WAY!…read more Let me tell you something, honesty goes a long way in my book, especially when it comes to mechanics! Unfortunately, I didn't get the most favorable news today. My Nissan's transmission is shot! Not exactly what anyone wants to hear, but what I did get from Eric was something far more valuable than false hope -- THE HONEST TRUTH! Let's face it, there are plenty of mechanics out there who would've strung me along, charged me for unnecessary repairs, drained my pockets, and gotten my hopes up, only to eventually deliver the inevitable news: "Your Nissan's transmission is done!" Not Eric! No beating around the bush, no unnecessary upselling, no smoke and mirrors. Just a straight-up, honest diagnosis. As someone who understands business, I can tell you this: Your integrity and reputation will always precede you. You might make a quick dollar by taking advantage of someone, but you'll build a lasting business by earning people's trust. Eric, I appreciate your honesty, professionalism, and straightforward approach. You didn't give me the news I wanted, but you gave me the truth I needed, and that speaks volumes about your character. You may not have saved my transmission, but you definitely earned my respect, my trust, and my future business! HIGHLY RECOMMEND ERIC THE MOBILE MECHANIC!

I called SDS ahead of time to coordinate and they said to bring it in and they could take a look at it. After the car was dropped off by the tow truck, THEN they said they would charge me $260 to run diagnostics on the electrical system. That would have been nice to know before it was unloaded from the tow truck, or I would have taken it somewhere else. I told them I wouldn't pay that and that $100 would be more reasonable. With no hesitation he dropped his price to $175 (still way too much). Clearly, they are charging whatever they think they can get away with and hope you don't speak up. From that point on, I could see there was no reason to trust these guys. The next day, they quoted me $500 for a new battery install and they said that the rear brakes are metal on metal and need to be replaced now. They quoted me battery and brakes replacement combined at $1100. So I drove down, had them jumpstart the car and I drove it to my mechanic in Folsom. He didn't charge me anything to run the diagnostic, and confirmed it needed a new battery but said that I had a few 1000 more miles remaining on the brakes. I went ahead and replaced the battery and the rear brakes for $720 total. Best case, SDS is just way overpriced and exaggerate a little on needed repairs. Hopefully they treat their regular customers better than people in an emergency.
