STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. CLOWN!! I've dealt with my share of "handimen" that oversell themselves and under perform. Seth from Drain- Pros takes that to an entirely new low. I requested some wood/trim be replaced on the exterior of my home as I was getting ready to list my property for sale and just wanted to spruce it up a bit for an upcoming open house. Seth was quick to respond and visited the property immediately to review scope for pricing. He started out to be very amenable and easily approachable to speak with. I informed him that I had 2 other contractors scheduled to review the work scope of well and he proceeded to aggressively pursue the job for an immediate start date as "he and his guy had a few open days" and could finish the job in a solid two days. I was at first a bit hesitant but he said all the right things and even reduced his price by another 10%, if I approved it at that time. Needless to say, and against my better judgements, I did and he said he would begin on Sunday. He rolled in after 10:00am Sunday; worked a few hours, then went to lunch. He was texting me during his time there as I was out at that time a day. When I arrived back around 2:00, very little had been completed and what he did do was below acceptable standard. I chose to hold off on my opinion as I figured I would allow him time to complete the work a bit more in hopes of seeing an improvement. He rolled out on Sunday around 300pm, so he had about 4 hours of labor expended at that time. Before leaving, he asked for a partial payment of $1000.00, which represented about 33% of the project. He said he needed the money to purchase the replacement wood, paint, etc and I reluctantly agreed. At that point, I said "I better see you here tomorrow ". He agreed to come back Monday to continue with what he had started but instead messaged me late morning stating there was a good, dry stretch of weather in place and it would be best for him to come back on Tuesday. I disagreed with his reasoning as he had removed some wood/trim, leaving it exposed to the rain that was forecasted. He arrived Tuesday around 1:00pm, walked around the house a few times with his caulking gun and said he was going to lunch. He never returned and then began avoiding my calls and not responding to my text messages. At this point I realized he was likely in over his head and I was very concerned since I paid him in advance and nothing had been completed. He finally responded back saying he'd be there on Thursday with his carpenter and promised to put a big dent in the project. I left for the day and received a text from him around noon stating his carpenter was going to meet him in the afternoon at my home. I thought that was odd as it woukd be kind of late to start the larger scope of work at that time but I figured, he was already at my place working on some of the smaller issues that didnt require his carpenter. I arrived back around 230pm and nothing had been done as he never arrived nor did he inform me of a change in plans. I tried calling him again, but, as had been the case recently, it went right into voice mail. I asked for him to call me to discuss scheduling, etc, and also sent him a text noting the same. No response back that Thursday. Come Friday morning, I was traveling early and sent him a text at 730am stating I'd be on the road for 4 hours so please carve out a few minutes to call me. Four hours later, I arrived at my destination without hearing from him so I once again placed a call, which went right to voicemail. I left him a detailed message expressing concern over the lack of progress and the looming open house date that had been scheduled. He finally responded back, by text, even though I specifically requested he called me, but obviously he didn't feel comfortable speaking directly. I guess its easier to lie via text than by voice. At least it was in his case. Anyway, his text was positive and upbeat that basically assured me everything would be completed when I returned home on Monday. I thanked him for putting my mind at ease and asked him to keep me updated with his progress. As you can likely guess, he once again never showed and I haven't heard back from him since. I informed him on the Monday evening I returned that he had until noon the nezt day to return the money I paid him as I was going to hire someone else to clean up the mess he left. I guess taking the $1000.00 was worth more than his name and reputation. I'm not here to ruin his name or his business as he is a quite capable of doing that on his own. If I can save just one homeowner from having to experience his lying and deceipt, it will be worth this effort read more
