Dragon Terrace might not be a place I would have friends meet me for lunch, the food is good, but not something I would drive out of my way for. The service is very friendly, the owner has always stopped by my table to be sure everything is okay, and it always is. The hot and sour soup is a perfect blend of hot and sour--not too much of either. The general chicken is not really spicy. The filling in the potstickers is good; the dumplings are a little thick and soft for my taste. The prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. This restaurant has been in Hercules a long time. So they are doing something right. read more

We are about an hour away from this place but it is completely worth the drive. The food tastes really good and the service is outstanding. My family and I usually order a lot. The food is served quickly and at the same time vs one dish at a time like some restaurant (I hate that!). My favorite is the full crispy chicken with the shrimp chips on top. Happy 30th Anniversary !!! That's a sign that this restaurant is good. Many a restaurant can't stay open that long. With the really nice remodeling even enhances the restaurant experience. Good solid Chinese cuisine that will cure ur craving for Chinese food and very friendly staff. Nothing spectacular, just a hardy restaurant with good old Chinese food that you expect. I decided to come here from the good reviews. Sorry to say but the food was dissapointing. Got shrimp fried rice, mongolian beef & egg rolls. Shrimp fried rice was very bland & the teeny tiny shrimp they use is dirty, it tastes & even looks raw. I tried re-cooking it but it would not cook it stayed pink & raw..the mongolian beef was good and the egg rolls had hardly any filling, all you tastes is dough on the inside..looks like they used a half teaspoon of mushy filling & spreaded it. Been living in the area for quite a long time and finally writing this review. This is a nice neighborhood Chinese restaurant which the owners are really nice and it's a family owned restaurant. I do a lot of takeout with that being said the food is pretty good. My go to is the potstickers and the assorted won ton soup, you can't go wrong with getting the lunch special on the weekdays between 11-3:30 I believe. It's been remodeled and looks really new and modern on the inside. Good Chinese is hard to find in the east bay, but I can say Dragon Terrace is one of the few I recommend. read more

I'd say their restaurant was at least half packed or so when I picked up my order.That itself says something too! I enjoy coming to Dragon Terrace. I think the food is great and the people are friendly. My complaints are that when we order for pick-up, the portions are noticeably smaller. Either get different to-go containers, or use another one. Either way keep it consistent because the dine in portion is way more than when you take it to-go, which I don't think is right. I'm paying you the same amount. Also, service when you dine in can be rough if it's busy. I think they just get really slammed and they are a bit understaffed your table can get neglected. They are still serving you with a smile and are super friendly, but it can take a while to get your food and the bill. I'll continue to go because I like supporting local restaurants and good people, and really the food is very good. My favorites are the westlake beef soup, potstickers, salted fish fried rice, and salt & pepper fish filet. read more

The boss, aka my daughter, insisted that we get noodles for lunch. We were on our way home from golf so we placed an order for pick up. We've gotten take out several times from here because it is 5 minutes from our house and they are always fast about preparing the food. We have had this place twice this month, so this is a review with a combination of both trips. * Value: The prices are average compared to other Chinese restaurants, but they do serve a fair amount of food. * Atmosphere: It's located in a little plaza with a few other eateries. There isn't a lot of foot traffic, so unless you have been here before, you may not stumble upon it. With COVID, they have a table set up close to the door so you do not have to walk in and they come to you. They provide hand sanitizer and have a couple of chairs to sit in while you wait. * Service: The staff/owners are always really friendly and greet you when you come in. As stated above, they usually have my order done within 10 minutes which is always a plus. * Taste: Our go-to dishes are the beef chow-fun (dry), house special friend rice (bbq pork and shrimp) and salt and pepper spareribs. These dishes are always good and consistent. My daughter loves the chow fun while my son can eat the rice all on it's own. The last couple of times we also tried the crispy half chicken and honey walnut prawns. My husband loves the crispy half chicken. I usually like some type of sauce with my chicken but he says that it has enough flavor to eat on it's own. The honey walnut prawns are okay. They give you a good amount of shrimp and put the sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy, but I am not a huge fan of the batter that it is fried in. I think it is cornstarch. Being a Hercules resident, its funny I barely review any of the restaurants in the small town I live in. I was reminded tonight about how good the food is at Dragon Terrace. Dragon Terrace is the best Chinese restaurant around in the area, despite its the only Chinese joint here but the best in a 10 mile radius. I discovered this restaurant when I was 18 yrs old and has always been a fan! Great service and family owned. My favorites are: Honey walnut prawns- perfect and not drenched with mayo! Wor Wonton soup- hits the spot!! Sweet and sour chicken- has a slight crunch (which I like) Peking spareribs-Oooh lala Shrimp fried rice- I crave this all the time Beef Chowmein- that's what's up! Roast duck- HI!!! want to be my bff? Spicy spareribs-I heart pork They even have lunch specials during the week and let you hold private parties at the restaurant. This food was disgusting. I don't know how this place has received the good reviews it has. The only good thing about our meal was the sweet and sour sauce (which we can buy from a store). We got the walnut prawns, crab ragoon, egg rolls, chow mein, and orange chicken. The walnut prawns (pictured) were some of the worst we ever had. The crab ragoon wasn't terrible but had celery inside which was a little weird. The egg rolls were worse than frozen egg rolls you can get at Trader Joe's (or another store). The chow mein was basic. The orange chicken actually didn't appear to be real chicken and even our dogs didn't love it - it was disgusting. We will never return to this place. You're better off with Panda Express - which is not real Chinese food at all but at least it's edible unlike this stuff we threw away. read more

Very disappointed, I got Shrimp fried rice and Mongolian beef. The rice was hard and they put a very teeny tiny shrimp and it's dirty. It doesn't have taste and even smell fresh. The Mongolian beef didn't even have any flavor. I throw $30 in the garbage. Definitely I won't be back and don't recommend this place. You should try Willow Garden Restaurant in Rodeo, the fried rice is delicious they put big shrimps, has a delicious flavor and cheaper. read more

This place is my absolute favorite. I come here all the time and love to try all the different soups. My favorite is the beef wor wonton! The owner and all the workers are always so friendly, efficient, and always makes sure I have a great experience! This is my go to place, especially during a rainy day. As I was waiting for my order, there was a older lady in line before me, ( probably mid seventies) and after placing her order, ( and spending eighty five dollors, ) she sat down, and five minutes later she asked the lady behind the counter how long before her order would be ready, the lady screamed at her and said you just ordered five ago! I don't like to leave bad reviews but today I had to. This is my second visit here , love me some honey walnut prawns . First visit, lunch time I see prawns offered but not honey, walnut prawns for lunch special. And that's OK so I had to order the meal but it did not come with rice so I had to pay extra for the rice no problem the prawns were amazing. The sauce was good and quite a bit on the plate. I went there today for lunch and decided to try the lemon chicken with chow mein. I love Chinese food and I have had some of the best but today I took about three bites and that was it. Absolutely NO flavor!!The chow mein was just noodles and one piece of celery now let's talk about the blue and chicken. It said white meat that is not white meat. It was some kind of compressed meat and they fried it, and it was so oily and drowned it in lemon sauce. My plate was huge and I asked the lady if that was a lunch special and she explained yes. She never came back and asked me if I would like something to drin I would've been happy with less food and more flavor. Disappointing. So I took about three bites and left and now my stomach is hurting. So I should just look for a different place to eat Chinese food. This is not the authentic Chinese food, thank you for reading. They have absolutely the nicest older couple owner/operator there. I come here for lunch once in a while. They are quick, even when it is a busy lunch hour. The lunch menu is quite huge, the usual Chinese food fair, ie broccoli beef, rice and noodles. They have a kick ass Chinese style beef stew over rice at lunch. I think I ordered just about every time I come here. No big fireworks, no special secret menu, no hot wings served by girls in bikinis, just good fast Chinese food. They people who work here also own the place, so they care about the customers coming in. read more

Why you got 1 star: My review from Shinsen Sushi: It was a fluke that we ended up here, lucky us! We stopped at the Dragon Terrace located at the end of the same center. It was 5 minutes before 9pm. The crew at the Dragon Terrace looked at me like I was some suburban OG Gangsta ready to rob the place. I asked them if they were open (yeah, I saw the HUGE NEON OPEN sign) and they asked me if I was taking my food to go. I replied to the negatory and said "good night and wait for me to YELP you!" So we walked over to Shensen to give them a try. I was a bit nervous that they would be closed also, but we were greeted promptly by the clerk at the counter, the sushi chef at the bar and two ladies that popped out from the curtained kitchen area. Amid bows from everyone were were seated and presented with menu's and complimentary edamame. We ordered the California roll (for me), the fried oysters (to share - oooh la, la), chicken Katsu for Hunnie Bunnie and the beef Sukiyaki for me. The sukiyaki was accompanied by a bowl of rice and was steaming hot with lots of rice noodles doing the back stroke through the broth, sharing space with carrots and other veggies, fish cake and tender sliced beef. Hunnie Bunnie enjoyed his Katsu and 3 extra servings of Katsu Sauce. He saw that the servers were trying to close out their checks, so he went up to give them our credit card. They were so sweet, they came over to the table and told us to take our time, that they weren't trying to rush us, even though there was a thorough cleaning going on in the kitchen. I assured them that it wasn't a problem at all and that we appreciated the quick service because we were tired. It was actually refreshing to watch them clean up. They left no stone unturned, making sure that every surface was spotless. The final surprise was a pair of mugs for us as a gesture of thanks. How cool was that? So if you're in the area, and you want really fresh good food, in an extremely pristine environment with super friendly service, spend your moolah here. As for Dragon Terrace, they lost out on close to $50 tonight. In this economy, can you really afford that? read more
