One of the worst North American Chinese food meals we have had. The bbq pork is an overcooked pork roast with some bbq sauce slathered on top - dry and inedible. The ginger in the General Tso chicken was just too overpowering. The broccoli in the beef broccoli and noodles were mushy and flavourless. No one finished their meals and the leftovers we were hoping to have are going in the garbage. It was a waste of $72. I hope this was just an off night but the reviews are pretty hit and miss. First impressions from the menu, Dragon House provides the most unique and interesting vegetarian options out of all Chinese restaurants in Oakville. Many cool tofu dishes and rice/noodle dishes. I got take-out and everything was smooth. About a 30m wait dor 4 dishes. I ordered the Deep Fried Tofu in Honey Garlic Sauce, Tofu & Eggplant, Hot Pepper Vegetable Fried Rice Chilli, and Kung Pao Tofu & Vegetables. The tofu dishes were well done. The Kung Pao Tofu had a real good mix of spice, peanuts, and veggie bits - a dish I haven't seen at other Chinese places. The Tofu and Eggplant was also excellent. Flavoured with a ton of black pepper, it was rich and saucy and punchy. The Honey Garlic Tofu was a bit one dimensional and too sweet for my taste, but still good paired with rice/noodles. The Hot Pepper Fried Rice Chilli was good, but it has this strong pepper/chilli flavour that might taste a bit charred. Overall, great food. The restaurant only has a single table, mostly for waiting, so takeout is the main option here. read more

This was a truly disappointing experience. The first time that I have ever had Chinese food have no flavor. I ordered Generals Tao, Young Chow fried rice and beef chow fun. The only thing that came out sort of right was the chow fun. It had elements of what it should taste. The General Tso's Chicken and Young Chow fried rice was horrible. Dry and flavorless. I gave the place one more star because you get a discount if you pay in cash, but I will never order from this place again. I was so pleased with my order, I had to call and thank them. I ordered the lunch special of the General Tso's Chicken and the Moo Goo Gai Pan. Both were hot and delicious; I really enjoyed the spicy sauce on the General Tso's. The portion's were a nice size. Both soups arrived nice and hot. The Hot & Sour Soup (my personal favorite), was by far one of the best I've had. The man taking the order was pleasant, and the man who delivered it arrived quickly and was very friendly and gracious. Definitely an all-around good experience. I thought I'd give Dragon House a try and ordered delivery from them - cheese wontons and general tso's chicken, easy order. It took over an hour to receive, and I was OK with that. But when I opened up my order, I looked at the general tso's and thought it didn't look right. I tried it - it tasted nothing like general tso's, and I've had this dish from probably a hundred different Chinese restaurants. It's a brown, salty sauce poured over some of the chicken (not even all of it) and it tastes terrible. Thinking they got my order wrong, I called the restaurant; nope. Apparently they choose to make general tso's different from everyone else. That's all fine and dandy, but paying $11 for something that tastes like really salty soy when you're expecting a dish you know and love really sucks. I didn't eat it. I tried, instead, to feed it to my Husband, the human garbage disposal - he gave me a dirty look after trying it and gave it back. Next, I checked out the cheese wontons. I was really excited because I've never seen cheese wontons here in Canada before (they have them in the US where I come from). They certainly were cheese wontons, but when I examined them, I started laughing - they are full size wontons, but the amount of cheese in them was like an 1/8 teaspoon! So little cheese, you can't even taste it. Even the fortune cookies were stale. I definitely won't be ordering from here again. With so many great Chinese restaurants in Oakville, why settle for this mess? read more

This is my new go-to place for local Chinese take out. The meat is always tender, the vegetables crisp and the sauces filled with flavour, yet free of additives. We usually stick to their special recipe dishes and the classics, and are always pleased (especially with the noodle/rice dishes - but the garlic broccoli is great, too). We've never gone for delivery, mainly because it's central with plenty of parking, and they offer incentive discounts of you pick up and pay in cash. Always friendly and fresh. read more

Order: steamed vegetable dumplings, mo pa tofu, chicken with ginger, steamed white rice Called to place an order - the woman on the phone seemed frazzled or rushed. I asked for spicy green beans but they were out so I ordered the tofu (the menu indicated it was spicy and that was confirmed by the restaurant. The order came about 45 minutes later. The driver didn't seem interested at all - kept staring behind him. Soon as he left, I noticed they got my order wrong - instead of vegetable dumplings I got steamed vegetables. I called back and after I told her no i cant come pick it up, and no i don't want a credit for next time did she offer to have it delivered (I REALLY wanted dumplings). In the meantime I ate the rest of the food. AWFUL. the tofu was gelatinous and not spicy at all. Like no flavour. Same with the ginger chicken. I have never had such bland chinese food. Like the stuff at the mall is bettter. 45 minutes later the dumplings come. They are clearly pan fried, not steamed and just.. meh. again - no flavour. Never ordering from here again read more

Still loving this place. Also - I love good dumplings. Love them, like, with a passion. Over the last couple years I have made it a habit to try the dumplings at every new place we try, and none have stood out. Some have downright made me sad. If you put dumplings on your menu I see it as a rainbow, with unicorns and glitter, and everything happy and bright. If your dumplings come to me and they're horrid, it's like finding out the hoped-for unicorn is really just a nasty old goat with rabies, and the rainbow is some shiny smear of oil on a puddle in a back alley. The Dragon House dumplings, however, are a whole new level of delicious. Amazing, delightful, superb. The filling is predominately pork (in the peking dumplings, anyway), instead of being mostly cabbage with a token bit of meat like some other places. The wrapper is tender and moist, and the soy sauce they provide with them has a little bit of a kick to it. Two weeks ago I ordered a General Tso chicken and a house fried rice and it was fantastic. Possibly one of the best General Tso chickens I've ever had. Not too breaded, the sauce was not overpowering, and to be honest I suspected it could have been made from scratch. The House fried rice was also excellent. We ordered pick up again today, and the General Tso chicken doesn't contain any chicken, just rubbery batter partially doused in sauce. The noodles and veggies isn't bad, but it a little bland. We also ordered a Pad Thai which is okay for a Pad Thai from a Chinese food restaurant. Called to tell them the chicken was awful and was told the manger and cook would be informed. That's it. Now I've got this full container of General Tso's chicken I suspect won't even compost. Am I going to order again on the off chance or getting a phenomenal meal? Probably not. read more

I've only had about ten of their dishes in the eight or so times I've ordered, but in terms of value I give this 5 stars. Very good price point for the food. There's a couple other local takeout joints that have slightly lower prices but their food can't compare to this place. For a takeout place only, this is the best Chinese I've had. If i could give it less than 1 star, i would. I tried to order and the staff were being very rude to me. Tried to tell them i could only pay with debit and they rejected it. Had to cancel my order. They would rather their customers starve than pay with debit. Not only that, but even though my order was already over $20 before tax, they tried to make me pay a $5 delivery fee and this infuriated me due to the fact that their website clearly states that "A delivery charge of $1.50 will be applied for food orders over $20.00 or more before tax. I order from here a lot and it is usually pretty decent food. Nothing groundbreaking though. However, last time I ordered a combo which included chow mein. When it came, the chow mein was alllllll bean sprouts. I was SO disappointed because we were expecting some noodles with the combo (a necessity when eating Chinese duh) and it's me and my boyfriends fave part. I googled before we ordered to double check what chow mein was, and it's VERY clearly fried noodles. They need to fix this very misleading issue. Nobody wants a big box of bean sprouts. Biggest waste of money ever. I ordered Chicken Almond Sou Guy....it came like chicken balls....so much batter, no almonds and the gravy was all watered down. I paid 30.00 for my order and was very dissapointed. I could have eaten at Manderin buffet for the same price and got prime rib and crab legs tonight. When I called them to say, what is up with this sou guy...they said this is how we make it now...and i said where are the almonds...oh they must have forgot, we can deliver the almonds to you now. We have ordered from this restaurant over the last couple of months as its close to our home. Food is decent but not great. Each time we ordered they never got our order correct. They always missed items or gave us items that we did not order in replacement of food that we did order. We are never ordering from this restaurant again.
