As with most Chinese restaurants in Oslo, they serve a Westernized version of Chinese cuisine. I asked the server if they made legit Chinese cuisine and was told the chef of course was Chinese. I ordered a typical Sichuan dish, gong bao ji ding (kung pao chicken). To the waiter's surprise, I knew the actual Chinese name.
When I received my dish, it was floating in sauce, full of veggies ( which ate used as fillers), they used cashews instead of fried peanuts, and lacked the essence of Sichuan cuisine..."mala."
I never knew why most Chinese restaurants water down their dishes and think that the original taste will not cater to westerners? I am not Chinese, but my Sichuan cooking is far superior to the dish I received here. read more
