Word to the wise: pistachios = dental villains. Apparently those tasty treats are the root (hah hah root) cause of many a tooth crack. Now you know. Don't do it. My dentist referred me to Dr. Kim for a root canal. I had a crown done on a molar three months earlier that wouldn't stop hurting--due to the aforementioned pistachio-caused tooth crack. Of course, my regular dentist could not know the crack went way down to the root. Although I don't have "dentist fear" I was apprehensive about having the procedure done due to hearing terrible things about root canals. What I learned is that if you wait until you have an infection and are in really bad pain, the procedure won't be as easy or you'll associate the pain with the procedure. DON'T WAIT! Go to Dr. Kim right away! The office people were very friendly. Dr. Kim is SUPER DUPER professional. Very calm and confident. They kept on checking on me during the procedure ensuring I was OK and gave me plenty of anesthetic. I FELT NOTHING! And much of the root clearing uses a manual drill, so you hear a lot of squeaking but not lots of drilling. That is good. He patched my partial tooth crack warning me to never eat nuts again, because one more crack and there goes the whole tooth. Great! Ok so to be honest, it's really not fun downtime to be sitting in a dentist chair for 90 minutes, with your mouth cranked open, wearing a dental dam, listening to the whine of a drill and smelling antiseptic. Your jaw gets tired. You get twitchy. You're happy you never watched Marathon Man. Boredom sets in. I actually closed my eyes a few times thinking I could doze off if only I had my soft pillow. Once the anesthetic wore off (they use stuff with Epinephrine) I was ready for some major pain, but I felt nothing except soreness at the injection sites. And today I have a newly dead tooth with no pain! I can drink cold water, eat cold apples, cold cheese and frozen yogurt on the left side of my mouth! But no nuts. Ever. Need a root canal? Don't wait. read more

I cannot praise these folks enough! I've had a torturous past with dental mishaps,sociopaths and idiots. and I am EXTREMELY paranoid, distrustful, and terrified of dentists. But these people rock.I only had a little pain in the beginning, and they numbed me up a bit more, and then there was no more problem. Most importantly, I felt like they actually cared, and I'd written that quality off among dentists years ago. Late review for Dr. Kim and his friendly staff. I needed to get two root canals done and have only heard scary stories of pain from my Aunt and Brother (mind you, they had them done 10 years ago and techniques have probably changed) So, I went into this bracing myself for the worst. I almost fell asleep. Seriously. What was the big deal? Dr. Kim has a calm, yet confident personality. Very professional, yet assuring. From start to finish, everything went very smoothly. If I ever need or know of anyone needing a root canal, I will happily refer them to Dr. Kim. He's the Bee's Knee's. I was referred to Dr. Kim for a root canal. I was nervous about it, because I already had a root canal perfomed previous to the one done by Dr. Kim, but my first one was done at Bright Now!, and it was a horrible experience for me - they didn't have the supplies they needed, my mouth ended up being open for like 4 hours, most of the time because they were off looking for the supplies they needed - they did a horrible job, and it was painful, BUT DR. KIM was excellent. I felt no pain, and it took less than an hour. He communicated very clearly what I should expect, which I truly appreciate. I have to have another root canal done on the other side of my mouth and I am not nervous at all - only because I've found Dr. Kim. read more

I had 2 root canals with Dr. Kim and I had no issues whatsoever. I've never had root canals before and always heard horrible stories about them, but the first one was totally painless and I almost slept during the second. I didn't even feel a lot of pain when he did the shot anesthesia. Other than the procedure itself, the staff was professional and courteous. No complaints here. read more

I was visiting my son in Seattle when an old root canal went ballistic without much notice. It was serious enough to make my face swell and I even became a bit septic. I called Dr Kim after yelping endontitsts and found the most professional, compassionate, skilled set of staff. Dr Kim is a wonderful endo, and while he tried to help me, he ended up referring me for emergency surgery. What's also exceptional about this practice is they even called me to see how I was doing, and his claims to my insurance reflected his efforts in a truthful manner. They even filled out paperwork for the airline when I missed my flight. If you want a truly skilled endo coupled with fabulous staff, go to this practice. I found Dr. Kim online some years ago while looking for an endodontist. I was impressed with his training (University of Toronto, Columbia University, both top dental schools) and patient reviews. I've since seen Dr. Kim for two root canal procedures. Both procedures went flawlessly. Dr. Kim in person is competent, polite and professional, and I found his manner put me at ease, despite my general unease with dentistry. Dr. Kim's practice is super easy to work with, from billing (Annette was awesome), to scheduling, to his dental assistants. I have referred family members to Dr. Kim, and I definitely recommend him for endodontics. read more

I had a root canal with Dr. Kim back in 2014 and it was the best, fastest, most painless root canal I've ever received (I've unfortunately had several). I was reluctant to get one at first because I wanted to save the tooth if at all possible, and I've had previous dentists be too eager to recommend a root canal for a living tooth. But he quickly and decisively ran a number of tests to show me beyond doubt that the tooth was stone cold dead. Then he was in and out in less than half an hour. It was almost as easy as a filling. My general dentist at the time told me that it was the smallest entry hole in a tooth he'd ever seen by an endodontist. His administrative staff were also excellent and happy to work with my obscure insurance policy. read more

I was referred to Dr. Kim by a close friend. I had a previous root canal done on a tooth two years ago by another endodontist, but the work was questionable since it never felt right. My dentist had been watching this tooth and discovered last month that there were signs of an infection. I was completely impressed by the quality and delicate care that Dr. Kim took in examining and retreating the tooth. I am sure that some other doctors may have simply decided to extract the tooth, but Dr. Kim took extreme care to save it and retreat the canals that were not found by the previous endodontist. His care was impeccable, and I could not believe how he and his assistant made the experience so painless. Yet, I could tell that they were extremely thorough in continuing to check and carefully treat extensions to make sure that the infection was treated and canals cleaned. Unlike the previous root canal experience, I felt minimal discomfort immediately after the work (not needing to take any ibuprofen), and the following day, my tooth had minimal sensitivity so that I hardly noticed it when eating. I appreciated the other reviews on Dr. Kim and completely agree with their comments. All the problems and sensitivity that I had with this tooth for the past two years are gone thanks to the excellent quality of Dr. Kim's work. read more
