This place is pathetic! My son received his glasses in May. Upon pick up a dot was placed on his…read morelens and my lens. No vision test was done when we picked up for neither of us. My son goes to his PCP and they give him an exam. His test wasn't 20/20 but 20/35 and 20/30. I text this office and received a text back claiming they were waiting on the dr. A worker than calls me and tells me that we were supposed to come back in after pick up of glasses but nobody told us anything. They just give out glasses before retesting you and allowing you to go home with them. I was then told I would have to repay for glasses and I told the first worker that shouldn't be right due to them not testing us and because the prescription is way off and nowhere near 20/20. She said well if your insurance covers it we'll bill them first even after they know they messed up. (Fraud practices!) She cuts me off and places Patricia on the phone. When I explain to Patricia about our experience she proceeds to tell me that I'm confused because that's not what's done when you pick up. I told her 8xs what was done at pick up time. A dot was placed on the lens and we were asked if we were good. I said we were good because the dots matched our pupil level when we picked up glasses. Patricia then goes to say "Oh so you said they were good." Then I told her stop playing condescending games with me. First you're saying that I'm lying about a marker being placed on the middle of the lens upon pick up because that wasn't supposed to happen at pick up but in the beginning when we pick out glasses. She didn't want to admit the worker was wrong by testing our glasses with a marker at pick up. We never even went back in because we weren't told to make another appointment to test glasses. We have no follow up appt in that system but instead of her to checking she continues to play games. Instead we were told we were good as long as the marker point matched our pupil. Then after I asked what are we going to do then to Patricia because I need to call home office about this issue if she was going to keep playing condescending games on the phone. She proceeds to tell me I am speaking to home office. They had us pay and wear glasses that weren't even the proper prescription since May and when my son was tested this is how they treat you as if you have time to play condescending games with their workers that play as home office. I was told I would now have to deal with the owner. Mind you the first worker said she's getting the manager on the phone. Patricia got on the phone and was allowed to play condescending games, manager and a home office employee. To the owner you owe both our insurance company money and I will be filing a grievance with the insurance company due to Patricia thinking this was ok. Their glasses come back from the lab useless for adults and children. My sons and my glasses both are totally wrong prescription. File a grievance with your insurance company! Also file BBB complaint. After reading reviews this behavior and customer service is normal practice for them them. Report them until they get it together. The shouldn't be charging any insurance company when they clearly are in the wrong. Edit: the Dr. also calls you back after you leave an honest review and accuses you of calling their rude disrespectful condescending employees bad words instead of taking accountability. He couldn't even talk he was suffering stuttering lol. He also said he's the only one that accepts AmeriHealth Insurance for children in the area and good luck on finding someone else who accepts it. THIS IS WHY THEY DELIBERATELY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH AmeriHealth this way. But it's a lie because AmeriHealth just sent a whole list of providers in our area lol. Make sure you leave a review on the Better Business Bureau also so they can track how he expects Medicare to cover his screw ups. They delete reviews on google. Oh and after dealing with the owner the Dr Yealy yesterday afternoon I woke up to 5 fraud transactions on my credit card they now are investigating. Also, if you have AmeriHealth and they tell you that you have to pay a $40 co-pay, that's a lie! They're hustling you into a more pricey frame.

As I myself followed up on my glasses I received a few different reasons it took so long. In the end for whatever reason it took the time it did it still should have been handled differently. It kept getting blamed on the lab and yes it was the labs fault apparently. BUT your only as good as your behind the scene workers. If it was a restaurant and your food was wrong - you send it back. Now if you have to wait for another two hours for the correct food to appear - we'll I can guarantee you would not be happy or possibly leave. Once again a restaurant is only as good as it's behind the scene kitchen workers. I'm happy I got my glasses as I have two months of banking I was unable to do which now I'm catching up on. Will I use Dr Dombrowski's practice in the future (?) I'm not sure. I always believe in second chances. Time will tell. I truly hope other people do not go through the same craziness. My appt. with Dr. Thode was scheduled for 3:15 pm - I sat in that office for "2 hours" before I even got to see the eye doctor and most of that time was in the exam room, That is ridiculous - I saw people come in after me, get treated and leave before me. When I left the office it was near closing time and there were no other patients in the reception area. To make things worse, no apologies from anyone! The nurse assistants and Dr. Rommel are not only very good at their jobs but are very personable and appear to take an actual interest in the patient's well-being throughout each visit. The advice and suggestions for my better eye health and general health (at my age of 81) that they offer are both intelligent and helpful. I cannot imagine any better eye care anywhere than I get at Manning & Rommel Associates. Note: The "review mafia" must have put this place on their "hit-list" for some reason. None of the "no stars" reviews are valid, in my opinion. Seems like some of them were meant for another practice and submitted here in error. Honestly shocked how bad my experience was. My sister, who can't stand bad service, recommended…read morethis place to me so I expected quality. As a new patient, I arrive slightly early, then after 15 minutes I'm called to the exam room. First thing I noticed was how unsanitary it was. There weren't any disposable paper pads for your chin or forehead on the equipment. Dr. Liang used a tissue to "clean" the chin and forehead pad. I slid my mask down and used that as protection. He then asked me to remove the contacts I had in. I was given an open contact container (which looking back, who knows if it was clean or not) and a half bottle of eye solution that I'm sure was used by the previous customer. Luckily I had my own materials I could use. Also, I was poorly informed of if/where I could wash my hands before touching my eyes. My biggest concern was that I was NOT told my eyes would be dilated. Before he put the drops in, I pulled back and asked "what's that?" He said "it's to dilate your eyes". I told him its been a while since I've had that done and I cant remember the last time they were dilated. So not knowing the outcome, I let him proceed. He never asked if I had a ride home. The one thing he did ask AFTER they were dilated, is if I had sunglasses cause it would be bright. Then we were talking about brands of contacts. I told him I've been using a 'Day & Night' brand (specifically made for sleeping) for about 10 years, they work great, and I love them. He immediately said I should not be wearing them, and they're bad for my eyes. He completely disregarded the fact they work for ME. They're the only brand of contacts that have worked for me. He strongly recommended daily contacts, I politely declined. After informing him again I would really like the brand I've been using, he ordered a trial pair with a downgraded prescription; down by a quarter in one eye and a half in the other. As I'm signing out, I can't see anything two feet in front of me. I asked the woman at the front desk if this was normal. She said yes. I couldn't even see the receipt to sign my name. I then sat in my car for 20 minutes contemplating how to drive home. Before my next appointment to get my trial pair, I called to clarify what the apportionment was about and informed the receptionist that I will not be returning and do not need to order contacts due to my unpleasant fist visit. I did not, however, express what I didn't like about it. So keep in mind, they are aware I was not happy of the first outcome. I walk in to receive the trial pair with the downgraded script. I put them in, go to the exam room, and have to squint to see the letters. Granted, I got them correct, but I told him my right eye was slightly blurry. He said "you have 20/20 vision even with the lower prescription" to which I again said "it's still slightly blurry". He did nothing about it. We got to talking about my first appointment. I told him I was never informed my eyes would be dilated to which his response was "all new patients get their eyes dilated". I said "I'm sure they do, but that's information you should tell someone. I haven't been to the eye doctors in at least 2 years, I didn't remember how long the blurry vision lasted". He had no comment and was rushing the exam knowing I was not returning, yet had no desire to know why. The pattern I noticed here is that Dr. Liang disregarded my concerns. Both times I left like they wanted me in and out for a quick buck. I do not recommend this company. I will gladly make the 50 minute drive to my old eye doctor in Oxford.

I was told talk to manager who was not there at that time. I sat, I waited. At 1200 I asked for my most recent prescription which I was given. Then she pointed to the person helping a customer and said that was the manager. She could have told the manager that someone wanted to speak with them, but she didn't. I choose to support local businesses, however, with Dr Ammon semi retired his people and the customer interaction has slid. For three years I have been a customer as was my daughter and my deceased husband. We we no longer use Hockessin Eyeworks.

There was no rushing the remake and I did not receive my glasses for another +2 weeks. I called on a Friday and was told they'd be in on Monday. By 3 pm Monday, I called again to check. I was told they "hadn't gotten a chance" to check in the shipment. While I was on the phone, the person did open the box and confirmed my glasses had arrived and I could stop by and pick them up. When I arrived, my glasses still hadn't been "checked in". They were quite pleasant when my order was taken, but the service I received after that was poor, at best. Fortunately, the glasses are great.
