Love the space where this is located- amidst The Works, which grants 2 hours free parking. There was a reunion starting so we were asked to move Around back. Would've made more sense to have the reserved space out of the way of other customers. Then we had a little trouble getting consistent service because all the staff was on the other side of the bar. This is the brewery where I end up as the last resort. That might sound bad, but the reason that's the case is because I simply do not like IPAs or hoppy beers. It's sort of like being the guy that goes into a Neapolitan pizza joint and asks for a basic pepperoni. But, even they could throw together something similar to it (although I personally wouldn't ask that in the first place). As big as the selection at Dr. Scofflaw's is, even what they reference as a "lager" or a "wheat beer" is still hopped very substantially. That leaves essentially no easy drinking beer at all. Even the Mexican lager tastes like an IPA. It would be unfair for me to give them a bad review because of that, but I do think it's important to note that this brewery is for IPA lovers and IPA lovers only. When a brewery has dozens of beers, I do think it's a fair ask to have at least one easy drinking lager that's lightly hopped or a white ale that is not another recreated IPA. When it comes to the space, it's a big industrial room with long table, really looking like any other brewery. Where this brewery has really disappointed me in recent visits has been the fact that it turned into a kindergarten. Tons of kids birthday parties, children running around everywhere. There is no separation here and no vibe whatsoever for someone who wants to chill. That's again, part of the model they chose, so how can I complain just because I don't like drinking among groups of screaming five year olds? When it comes to the folks working here, they are always kind and very efficient. The patio does need work design wise. It's just brick and metal today, but not thoughtful way. Some trees and shrubs need to be planted, greenery introduced, perhaps some art. read more

This location is situated at The Works in Chattanooga, so there is a vast parking lot available. The first two hours are free. I quickly found an available spot and took the short walk over to Scofflaw. This location is a nice size with seating everywhere and plenty of beer to choose from. We approached the counter, and Wifey asked about a lager and then the wheat, but they were out of both of them. She decided to try an IPA instead, which she enjoyed. I ordered a flight with a few variations of the hazy IPA and a brown ale. We took our beers and went to the front near the grass. We drank our beers and did some people-watching. This place is definitely kid and pet-friendly. We enjoyed celebrating GA Beer Day here and will definitely be coming back. read more

We had an AMAZING experience at Dr Scofflaws. We reserved tables for a party. (They were clearly marked when I arrived to decorate) The team was kind, cheery, and helpful!! Even though the place became packed, we never waited more than a minute for a refill! The bar wraps around, so all areas have easy access. Bathrooms convenient, plentiful, and clean! We brought in pizza from West Side Pizza (which was also awesome) I got there early so there was ample public pay parking. When I was leaving the parking garage was FULL. We stopped at The Works to check the place out on a late Sunday afternoon, and happened upon Dr. Scofflaw's Laboratory & Beer Garden. The venue is fairly new and there are a lot of empty food & retail spaces at The Works; so the brewery was kind of empty as well. It is a large space with many picnic tables inside and outside plus lots of bar seating. There are big digital menus over the bars and they feature a pretty vast selection of beers and seltzers with descriptions of each. I was with my sister and we both wanted to try some different beers so we ordered several 6 oz. pours that were just $3 each. I'm a wheat beer girl so I decided on Dirty Beaches and Watermelon Wheat. I liked both of them and they were served really cold in little clear plastic cups. Both were light & crisp. I also tried the Georgia Peach Hard Seltzer, which was just ok, and the Mimosa Harder Seltzer which I thought was really tasty and also very unique. It definitely tasted like a beer-mimosa! I really liked this place and I think it will become really popular once the rest of the spaces are leased/opened. There is lots of free parking, at least for the time being, and I liked that the outdoor area was dog-friendly. Dr. Scofflaw's Laboratory and Beer Garden has an assortment of beers; (lagers, wheat, IPAs, sours, and seltzers.). There is something for everyone who likes beer and although we were just there to enjoy a few cold ones; it would be an awesome place to celebrate a birthday with friends, hang with a large group, or bring guests from out of town. read more

There are so many options for beers (mainly IPAs though), alcoholic frozen drinks, and a few seltzer options too. I have been here probably about 15-20 times, and each time has been just as fun. I have only come here in groups though, not to say that going with your partner or 3-4 people isn't fun, but it's so much more fun when you have a large group of people to hang out with and drink with. It's also very dog-friendly too. I always see at least one dog every time I come here. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating, so you can pick where you want to sit. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was very lively. There were a few private parties and there were definitely lots of kids and families, which made us more comfortable bringing ours. There is a small green area where the kids were running around and playing. Parking was tough as we had to circle a few times to get a spot decently close. I love that they offer 6oz. samplers here as that is a great way to try a bunch of different beers. They also have slushies and seltzers on tap. Water is self serve from the machine like they have at doctor's offices. The line for drinks can get long, but moves fast and they opened up a few new lines to help the back up. The facility is modern and there was lots of seating both inside and outside, despite the two private parties. read more

I always come to Scofflaw bc not only do they have the best IPAs and seltzers in atlanta ( imo lol) but also they have vodka and alcohol drinks which makes it an easy spot for all of my friends to come hang even those that don't necessarily opt for beer. It's great having a brewery at the works location. It's clean and spacious with loads of seating. Quick service. Picnic table seating. Great selection of beers, hard seltzers and slushies. There's even a selection of drinks for the kids for those of us that bring our kiddos. My husband loved this place for its many TVs providing a variety of sports game viewing. Scofflaw is known for their IPAs, I am not an IPA fan but they have a nice selection of lagers, stouts and sours. I tried their POC basement IPA (fruity), dirty beaches (American pale), lager and strawberry sunrise seltzer. I really enjoyed their lager, crisp and light. The POG had a definite fruity taste that wasn't bad but still not a fan of IPAs. The hard seltzer was yummy for a hot end of summer day. And last was the dirty beaches, not my thing but definitely could be a fan favorite for IPA lovers. Dr. Scofflaws is a brewery located at The Works in the upper westside atl. Since this is part of The Works, there's a plenty of free parking available (as wells as food). The taproom is also very open with lots of seatings and tables. I got the POG basement and the coffee milk stout, both of which were great. The ordering line moved fast too. They offer a smaller size (6oz for ~$3) so you can try many different types throughout the evening. The menu is extensive (lager, IPA, stout, seltzer, sour), so hopefully you'll find something that fits. One thing I did not like was the menu on one of the tvs. The fonts are super tiny and changed screens pretty fast. Although they have the menu online, it's much better to see it on a big screen in my opinion, but this is a tiny suggestion in an otherwise great place! This is quickly becoming our favorite brewery situation in Atlanta. I love that there is plenty of space both inside the bar and in their outdoor area, and that you can also just grab a beer and go anywhere in the Food Works area. Completely perfect for a post-covid era where not everyone wants to be on top of each other, and you can spread out as little or as much as you like. The bartenders are generally pretty nice, and I can't think of any drink I've tried and not liked here. I would normally feel like a tool ordering a seltzer at a brewery, but trust me when I say these seltzers (especially the POG and the peach) are better than any other you've tried. I will stop people at the grocery store and tell them to buy the Scofflaw hard seltzers instead of White Claw. Of course, their beer is great too! But it's definitely a brewery with options for folks who want something different. read more

I've come a few times for a happy hour and this place does not disappoint! I like how it's connected to a food hall which has tons of food options and there is a huge parking deck next to it. I'm not the biggest fan of beer but they have a few hard seltzer's which I've tried. I have tried the Georgia peach one which I think is my favorite since the peach taste was very subtle and not overly apparent. I also tried the lime one which is really refreshing on a hot summer day. They have tons of seating both indoors and outdoors and is the perfect spot for a happy hour! read more

As a long-time, devoted Scofflaw Brewing fan who's been going to their original location on MacArthur Boulevard since it opened four years ago, I've been looking forward to the opening of Dr. Scofflaw's Laboratory and Beer Garden for many months. After my first visit last night, however, I'm pretty disappointed. We arrived around 4:30, not too long after they had opened, and three-fourths of the entire facility - including all of the outdoor seating - had been rented out for some corporate event. Regular patrons were relegated to a single room with a dozen or so tables and a sad little merchandise booth (seriously, guys, it looks just terrible to have all of those shelving cubbies with one single shirt in them to try and space things out). I assumed the event had started much earlier and would be ending soon, but no, it was a packed event for two hours we were there and beyond. The venue itself is huge and could be interesting, but the dumpy corner we were stuck in the entire time kinda sucked. Not only did that event take up most of the physical venue, it took up most of the staff, too. In our little "open to the public" room, we had a grand total of two bartenders, leading to lines and delays at the bar. Not particularly friendly bartenders, either... The second major bummer was the beer selection itself: · A smaller selection then the original brewery. · Not one single porter or stout. · Items listed on the digital menu board that were not in stock. What's even the point of having a hi-tech, digital screen menu if it's not regularly updated? · No option for flights; only full-pours and half-pours. · No retail beer to go (unless it was in the area we weren't allowed in). And not to be petty, but I have to comment on a little issue when it came time to settle up. On the credit card payment screen, the default gratuity options for your bill are 20%, 25%, and 30%. Maybe Scofflaw is counting on drunk patrons not paying attention? Because anyone who pays a 25% or 30% tip at an understaffed, counter-service-only beer joint with no food (where you have to seat yourself and clear your own table) must be drunk or high. C'mon, Scofflaw, not cool. In an overall sense, the space really doesn't fit the Scofflaw brand. Scofflaw is a renegade, outlaw brand, but the new Dr. Scofflaw's feels like the same cookie-cutter, faux-industrial tasting rooms that are springing up all over in gentrified mixed-use developments. The vibe was terribly inauthentic. If I didn't know and love the beer itself so much already, I may not even have stuck around to try it. In short, Dr. Scofflaw's Laboratory and Beer Garden was a big letdown. It certainly doesn't feel like a laboratory, we weren't allowed in the garden, and the entire venture is trying too hard to be hip and trendy while missing out on what makes the brand interesting and different. read more
