Update to my prior review: After my original review, Zavant…read moreAesthetics publicly responded and asked me to contact the office directly so they could "resolve this." I did exactly that. I made another appointment and specifically requested to speak with management beforehand. I was then told that no complimentary treatments would be offered and was again referred to the consent form because it states that hair regrowth can occur after treatment. That response continues to mischaracterize my concern. My issue is not ordinary regrowth. I developed a substantial increase in hair compared with my pretreatment baseline after laser hair removal -- a recognized complication known as paradoxical hypertrichosis. Paradoxical hypertrichosis is a known, documented complication of laser hair removal; reported incidence is measurable and in some anatomical areas substantial. Because it represents worsening of the exact condition being treated, a reasonable cosmetic patient could consider it material to the decision to proceed. The consent form only warns of incomplete reduction/regrowth and hormonal growth, not laser-induced increased hair growth. That distinction is important. Telling a patient that some hair may grow back is not the same as informing them that the treatment itself can potentially stimulate more, darker, thicker, or denser hair than was present before treatment. I am not criticizing Zavant simply because a complication occurred. As a physician, I know that complications can occur even when a procedure is performed appropriately. My concern is the informed-consent process and the way this complication has been handled afterward. I was still willing to return and explicitly stated that I was willing to pay for another treatment. Despite that, my appointment was canceled and I was told that this was "standard procedure" until the manager, who was reportedly on vacation, could review the matter after the manager stated that my consent covered my concern and no complimentary treatments would be given. I then asked the person communicating with me to provide their name and asked whether there was an interim manager available while the manager was away. They would not even identify who I was speaking with, and no interim management contact was provided. In my view, that is highly unprofessional, particularly when dealing with a patient who is attempting to address a complication and follow up on the practice's own public invitation to resolve the matter. What is especially concerning is that the practice continues to rely on consent language about ordinary "regrowth" rather than addressing the actual complication I experienced. Patients considering laser hair removal here should specifically ask about paradoxical hypertrichosis and what the practice will do if treatment results in increased hair growth rather than reduction. I had hoped this could be handled professionally and amicably. Unfortunately, the combination of an incomplete disclosure of this specific risk, repeated characterization of paradoxical growth as ordinary regrowth, cancellation of my appointment even when I was willing to pay, and refusal to identify the person communicating with me has only increased my concern about how this matter has been handled. Below is a copy of my consent which clearly delineates hair regrowth and does not discuss the possibility of worsening/thickening of hair paradoxically. I believe this is not in good faith. I will not be referring patients to this practice again.

My experience with Dr Refresh was utterly appalling. The owner not only provided horrible service but also resorted to gaslighting when I voiced my concerns. Instead of addressing the issues, they blamed me for problems that were clearly their fault, making me question my own experience. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I genuinely feel beautiful. A little backstory because the context is important: I originally came to Skinic for lymphatic drainage the day before a trip and the treatment itself was incredible. Like 10/5 stars. I was SO relaxed afterward I felt like I was floating. Right after my treatment, Cassie, the manager, was incredibly kind and gave me tea, sat me down in her office, and asked how everything went. I was telling her how amazing it was, and then the conversation shifted into a package offer. I know this is normal in the beauty/wellness industry, but for me personally, it immediately took me out of the blissful state I was in. I just wanted to leave and bask in how good I felt. It bothered me enough that I actually came back inside and told her. I was emotional that day and definitely passionate about how much it had affected my experience, but the actual service had been so good that I wanted to be honest about the one thing that took away from it. We ended up really hearing and empathizing with each other. Cassie wanted to make it right and invited me to come back after my trip for the exact same treatment, completely complimentary. So when I got back from my trip, I came in for the treatment. Cassie greeted me with so much warmth and told me it was going to be the best massage of my life. And it absolutely was. No exaggeration. Anna is unbelievable. She told me she's been doing lymphatic drainage for about four years, but I would have guessed 10+. She showed me what a real lymphatic drainage treatment is supposed to feel like. I'm naturally inquisitive, so she explained the different lymph points and how the lymphatic system works as she went. When she was working on my stomach, I could actually hear and feel the fluid moving. It was WILD. By the time she finished, I immediately felt lighter and flatter. I had also told her my legs were sore from a workout. Without me having to ask her to adjust anything, she picked up on every tiny flinch or moment of tension in my body and changed her pressure accordingly. She has this incredible intuition for what your body needs. I felt completely safe and comfortable with her, both physically and emotionally. At one point, while she was draining my face, I actually started crying. I'd been holding onto a lot emotionally, and something about finally relaxing enough to let it out just opened the floodgates. My nose started getting stuffy and my eyes started puffing up as I cried, and Anna just kept gently working and draining my face through it. By the end, even my stuffy nose was gone. It genuinely felt like she got EVERYTHING out of me. The treatment was incredibly effective but also so peaceful. I felt like I was floating and so much lighter afterward. I left feeling beautiful, in love with myself, in love with the world, and honestly in love with Skinic. I really want to give Cassie credit too. She didn't just say she wanted to make my first experience right, she actually did it. The treatment was truly comped, there was no catch, and she made sure I was taken care of from the second I walked back through the door. What started as a moment that almost made me not return ended up showing me how much she actually cares about her clients, the quality of the people she hires, and how people feel when they leave her business. That gift ended up meaning so much more to me than I ever expected. Cassie absolutely has my business, and Anna has ruined every other lymphatic drainage massage for me forever lol. If you're going to Skinic, BOOK WITH ANNA. Get the Miracle Body Sculpt + Face Sculpt. I cannot recommend them enough!

In simple terms, it feels like you're actually working out your face while also tightening and lifting the skin. I really liked that you can feel the muscles engaging it feels active and intentional, not passive. Skinic itself is such a calm and welcoming space. From the moment I arrived, everything felt peaceful, and the staff is genuinely sweet, polite, and attentive. You feel very well taken care of.
