I go see her a few times a year for various reasons, and I always come away thinking that I have the best doctor in the world. She remembers things I've told her about my life from like 5 years ago! She's warm, compassionate, very intelligent, and makes me feel like I'm her only patient when I'm there. There is never a hesitation to have any kind of test done that she thinks I might need or to refer me to a specialist. I know she's busy, but I can also always get an appointment either that day or the next day. Today I called her at 11:30 and saw her at 3. She's a family practice doctor, so she sees people of all ages, so I'll be sticking with her for hopefully a very long time. I live in San Francisco, and still drive out to Pleasant Hill to see her...she's definitely well worth the drive.

Dr. Chow-Kwan really takes the time to listen to you, asks excellent questions relating to your visit and is an all around great person and great Doctor. One of my favorite traits of Dr. Chow-Kwan is that she will not just refer to you to a specialist for a strange problem. Both my wife and I have had some strange, one-off (non-chronic) medical issues that Dr. Chow-Kwan has taken a keen interest in and treated wonderfully. I feel very comfortable with her care, methodology and experience. When Dr. Chow-Kwan is not there, you can feel comfortable seeing any of the other Doctors in the practice. They are all great and in the same league with Dr. Chow-Kwan. The office is always well staffed, works out digital prescriptions with you favorite pharmacy, is courteous and will work with you to get you in if you are sick. Oh, and one other thing, I have never had a Doctor call me after a trip to the ER until I joined Dr. Chow-Kwan's practice. I seem to end up in the ER more often then the average (but again, for one-off strange items!) and when Dr. Chow-Kwan called me to follow up, I was blow away. Coming from a country where you walk into your family doctor's office and would be seen in 20 minutes, figuring out how to utilise my medical insurance was a challenge, but it was all worth it because I found Dr. Threewitt. She was extremely kind and informative, very good at giving information according to the patient's background--after I told her I took psychophysiology in college, she began talking about the quit-smoking drugs in a way that is more technically satisfying and therefore time consuming than I expected a hurried and busy American doctor would be willing to do. The staff was wonderful. As mentioned before, I am completely, actually PAINFULLY, ignorant of the American medical system. I was full of exceedingly strange questions and was dumbfounded when they were answered. Whenever the nurse returned, I'd ask the poor dear sweet girl about the forms, "what exactly are they asking me in this legally correct but logically contradictory sentence?" She has always referred me to the right doctors, if a specialist is needed, and they've always been great referrals; I trust her COMPLETELY with my health and body. To address the person who accused her of being a pill pusher- I realize that review was posted back in 2011, but even back then, that comment is so far from the truth! I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve and fairly severe arthritis in my back in 2006. Dr. Threewitt, before even offering any type of pain prescription, pushed me to go to physical therapy and also gave me exercises to do at home to help alleviate the pain. As the years passed, the physical therapy was not helping as much and I REQUESTED that some sort of pain medication be prescribed to me to help me get through my day or sleep better at night. Even when I requested this, she still tried to suggest other options other than prescription drugs, she expressed to me her concerns about addiction and the damage that prescription pain pills could do to my internal organs. She really did everything in her power to keep me from using prescription meds for my back. So, I know first hand, she is NOT a pill pusher in any way. I absolutely love her, I feel like she's a part of my extended family, I am always happy to see her and never feel embarrassed to ask any questions, I feel more comfortable with her than any doctor I have ever been to and would recommend her to anyone who asked for a referral to a fantastic doctor!

He spent an enormous amount of time with me, very thoughtful and thorough. He was easy to talk to. Honestly I was a bit surprised I liked him so much. Haha He didn't push vaccines on me at all and addressed absolutely everything on my list and more. I know now I can call his office if anything comes up. Speaking of the office, everybody I encountered was super friendly. Yeah for me- I like my primary care doc!

When it was still DVNMG, I was referred to an amazing MD, Dr. Brad Volpi, who was compassionate, kind, and responsive -- a seasoned MD. Thanks to Dr. Volpi's recommended vitamin supplements, rather than medication, I finally found relief from my daily migraines! Who knew that allopathic medical professionals also advocate for naturopathic remedies?! Since Dr. Volpi's retirement in 2018, I had to select a new MD for a follow up, so I chose Dr. Robert Algar. Dr. Algar is knowledgable, respectful, and thorough. It's impressive how he immediately dictates his notes into a microphone during the appointment, so that he does not miss any information. The staff are professional, polite, and efficient. They are always great on the phone, during check in, and at check out. I have never felt like I'm just another patient to staff; the treatment has been respectful and personalized. I appreciate that there is a separate door at reception to go into appointments, and a separate door to depart after your appointment, which leads you straight to the elevators. The billing department has also been helpful and quick to resolve billing needs. The building has a large private parking lot with over 200 spaces, including multiple disabled parking spots near the building's front doors. Another plus is a drop off area directly at the front doors for patients who are in wheelchairs or who need to be dropped off by a special service.
