The Dr. Pet Daddy team is great! I came home from work on Valentine's Day to find that my dog had gotten into A LOT of Valentine's Day chocolate. I called, was told to come over immediately and my dog was seen right away. Dr. Yoo was patient and gentle with my pup who can be a bit of a jerk. He took the time to check out my dog properly and made sure he left the office in his normal, healthy state. Even though we came right before the office closed, the team didn't rush us out. Been seeing Dr.Pet Daddy and staff for about a year - the doctor and every single staff member have been consistently amazing. They are competent, warm, caring, and THEY LOVE YOUR DOG JUST AS MUCH AS YOU DO. It's clear in the details of this office. They understand that parents want to see their babies in the appointment so they have a clear wall/door- and a seat for you to chill and watch! They don't lock you out like the other vets do as an excuse to mistreat your animals! They make sure to text you the next day and check on your babies. The vet assistants will always lift your spirits and give your dog a treat with a smile and a pat on the head, the desk staff will email you anything you need at any time and are so patient and efficient even in emergencies. Best vet clinic in Queens. Dr. Yoo and his staff are very attentive and caring. I can tell that they really do love animals and care for them as well. I've been to other vets before I moved to Astoria and I must say that most of the doctors and staff are old. I don't have anything against the elderly, it's simply because they've been treating animals for years and are numb to what the clients want: best care and service for their pets at a low cost. Goodness, I feel like I was scammed. An earlier one star review is very similar to my experience. I did thorough research on my first vet and the glowing reviews for Dr. Yoo made my decision for me. I'm not going to go into details about the office setting because nothing stood out. It's a small space but functional; clean. Unmemorable. Anyway, I took my first kitten Misha, a Peterbald from a breeder, to Dr. Yoo. We discussed this during the appointment and I gave him the details of the experience I had. He gave him a quick check up and asked me questions. I mentioned that he had loose stool and I attributed that to me changing his food too quickly. He 'suggested' I do a fecal panel. I was confused as to why he wanted to check him for worms because I explicitly said it was my fault due me rushing to change his diet, and this reputable breeder would not have sold me a kitten, raised underfoot, with worms. I decided to go on ahead and agree to the exam. I never got a call or email back about the results of my first kitten's fecal test. You couldn't let me know the results? Really? But the receptionist was prompt in sending me cost info about neutering him, ha. To fix his loose stool, he said he was going to give me treatments to alleviate it. They worked but those treatments were available online for much less. I look back and realize he never explained what these treatments were and if they were available online (they were). It truly does feel like he doesn't give you a choice to opt out. Treatments and what I paid: Metronidazole Suspesion 100mg/ml for $45 (DIRT CHEAP ONLINE! $1.34 on vetrx for 100mg/ml), Proviable-Forte Kit for Cats/Small Dogs $39 ($17.99 on Chewy.com). This is robbery. You could easily find yourself with a high bill if you don't intervene because this doctor is far too generous with treatments. Stupidly, I sent my second sphynx kitten back to the office a week later and he wanted to do another check for worms. Worms are contagious and being that this kitten was also raised underfoot (same breeder; I went to the physical location of the breeder), not only did I doubt she had worms but her stool was normal. This is where the alarm bells rung. He gave my second kitten a booster shot so fast that I didn't have time to process what the hell was happening. The other reviewer wasn't kidding. This doctor will administer stuff without first asking if you agree to it. He didn't even explain what a booster was or if it had any side effects. As soon as HE decided he was going to give her the booster, the needle was out! That's when I started to worry and doubt if I would ever come back. I felt more like a walking wallet and will absolutely not be returning even though I had paid for the vial and fecal exam for my second kitten. I have lost $64 bucks but I was that turned off by the first two visits. Here's the kicker: I took a second and more careful look at their vet books and lo and behold, they had already been dewormed. My first kitten's book says "Anthelminthic Treatment" aka deworming treatment. Did they not bother to check the book? Stop with the ridiculousness. I absolutely would not recommend them, especially for a first timer. Do your research as a pet owner if you don't want a vet to get the (monetary) upper-hand. New pet owners are fresh meat for this guy. Yuck and lesson learned. read more

Absolutely love Dr. Yoo, Louis, and all of the staff here. This place is about the best you can get. The facility is clean, modern, and beautiful on the inside. The prices charged are extremely reasonable compared to other clinics. We have a 6 month old Shiba Inu, and she received all of her puppy shots and check ups from Dr. Yoo and is recovering from her spay procedure. Since our first visit, which was a 5 star review, we have had an awful experience with Dr Pet Daddy.. My daughter brought her cat to Dr Pet Daddy who was seen by a female vet.... It was most unfortunate that Dr. Yoo was not in as my daughter's cat was seen by the female vet...After briefly examining my daughter's cat she misdiagnosed the cat with polyps in his throat and suggested that he be brought immediately to the hospital in NYC in that it was an emergency situation... My dog Milo loves going here and is always very excited to see the team - despite visits usually resulting in vaccines or like yesterday, surgery (neutering). Everyone there genuinely cares for be animals and enjoys caring for them, it is apparent in the care they provide. They are patient and always willing to give advice over the phone (in regard to teeth brushing, medicine administration, ear cleaning etc), or to demonstrate at the office. They are also very accommodating and will accommodate last minute Saturday requests (e.g. My dog woke up with an eye infection and they saw him straight away). Such a lovely place!! There is never a very long wait time, and the office is always very clean. Dr Yoo is gentle and great with Dogs. My puppy is 68 lbs and Dr. Woo has no problems giving shots or checking him out. The staff is always kind and gives many treats! They seem genuinely excited to see your dog. There are much better places in Astoria. Do I think they are generally qualified and educated? Yes. I've only been twice, and neither were great. I always confirm in writing/email exactly what my visit will cost without add ons. My second visit was confirmed "The regular yearly check up testing visit and bordetella vaccine comes out to $87.00.". I show up, no wait. Great! Since I'm talking payment right now: I added a flu vaccine and my total was over $200. No idea why. But, whatever. Happens at other vets too. Fine. As for the vet himself: He told me my dog is underweight, which we know she is skinny. We did bloodwork for many YEARS before, and nothing was found as irregular. We have literally doubled her food intake for 3 full years and she has just barely gained a little. She is happy, healthy, athletic, and her breed is always svelt. I do appreciate the concern, always, but the doctor was not listening to me. He was extremely cold, judgemental and accusatory, honestly. Terrible bedside manner, as described here alot. He suggested bloodwork for it. I said I'll get back to you after speaking to my husband, but did consider it. We had mostly been to Astoria Vet Group before. They were prescribing my heartworm medicine. Just now, I was denied a refill. So, no problem, I'll ask Dr. Pet Daddy to send my records that we had the heart worm test. "No" Dr Pet Daddy said, "You didn't get the bloodwork done, so a heart worm test was not done. I do see here in the records it was suggested to get bloodwork". I responded, "The blood work was specifically suggested for her weight issue. No one communicated that this included heart worm testing and that I would NOT BE ABLE TO GET MEDICINE without it. Wouldn't that be worth mentioning?". "I see in the records that they suggested bloodwork, but it was denied or not followed up" Infuriating. When I go to Astoria Vet Group, it's included no matter what. I have never had that as an "option". So, here I am trying to avoid heart worms and I can't get medicine because I haven't had my heart worm testing, which I never officially declined because no one communicated. Has never been confusing before. And now I have to pay for yet another Vet visit (definitely NOT at Dr. Pet Daddy again, unless I have to). Lucky me. read more

During our first and only visit, the team was great and very understanding of our over-energetic, anxious rottweiler. This review is more so to show the compassion that this team has for others. Recently, we sadly had to put down our pup. We went to another pet hospital simply because we knew something was really wrong and this other facility had a much longer history with our dog and all of his records. Today however, we surprisingly received a hand written card in the mail from the Dr. Pet Daddy team sending their sincere apologies for our loss. I have to say that I'm very disappointed and frustrated with this vet. I am giving two stars because the staff is very friendly and great with follow-ups. It was my mistake in trying this office out, as I've never experienced problems with my other vets office; however this vet was right around the corner from me, looked nice and professional (which it is) so I figured I'd give it a go when I noticed that my cat had been rapidly losing weight and wanted to get her checked out. Turns out, she has hyperthyroidism, which is pretty common in older cats. Dr. Yoo was very nice, but also not very communicative. I mentioned the brand of food and how much and how often I had been feeding her, and got very little response. He didn't ask me very many questions about what was going on with her. I felt that he was WAY too quick with administering on site medications and bloodwork without asking permission from me first. Before I even consented to anything he had a needle in her and all I could wonder was "omg what is he doing and how much is this going to cost me?" I also did not appreciate how quick he was to pressure me into giving her shots which were completely unrelated to her condition at the same time. This was a major red flag that this vet only sees $$$ signs. Maybe certain treatments work, but this vet needs to explain treatment options and be much better about communication all together. Another reviewer mentioned sticker-shock; I have NEVER paid as much for a simple visit that lasted less than 20 minutes and paid $500. Yes I understand that bloodwork is expensive, but this vet nickels and dimes you for the most obscene little things. He suggested that I take home a special litter to collect a urine sample for my cat. okay. The bill came and he charged me $17 for a little plastic container of litter pellets AND the plastic containers themselves as part of my bill. Turns out they didn't end up needing a urine sample anyway. I was floored. To wrap this up, my biggest issue currently is that now I'm saddled with a cat who's not doing well on the medication issued and seems to be getting worse. I am so wary of this vet and his lack of communication coupled with his astronomical prices that I've made an appointment for her back at my old vet's office. Worst vet experience ever. Stopped in to make an appointment on Tuesday and explain that my pet needs to be sedated prior to visit. Arrived at time of visit on Friday and my appointment was not scheduled and the vet refused to sedate. This caused my pet unnecessarily stress and for the first time ever I was bit by my own pet - there was blood everywhere. We did not receive the treatment needed and went elsewhere. read more

I've been on the hunt for the perfect vet for my 4 year old yorkie, (he was in the need for some serious dental cleaning) and Dr. Sunghyuk and his assistant Lewis we're super helpful! They were very transparent and told me exact prices and what was going to be done ahead of time. I was a walk in and was even able to get my yorkie's teeth cleaned and one extracted, (that I got to actually keep.. lol), the same day. Update: the vet called me to apologize and explain how they're updating policies based on our experience. He does care about the animals and service he provides but they are still working out some best business practices. ____ Be warned: these people do not care about your pet--they only care about the bottom line. We brought our dog in for vaccinations and by the time we got him home, he was vomiting. We called the vet to ask what to do and they said we could either take him in right now (they were closing in 10 minutes), or go somewhere else. We called back at 7:01 and no one was there. They have no emergency number and the vet didn't share his cell phone number with us, despite the emergency. We weren't sure how extreme the situation was (Pet Daddy should have told us), but I googled it and vomiting after vaccinations should be taken very seriously. We took him to the hospital and the emergency vet told us he was having a severe allergic reaction and could have gone into shock if we hadn't brought him in. The hospital vet hooked him up to an IV and gave him Benedryl and advised that we should only give him core vaccinations from now on, as infrequently as legally possible. She also said that one of the shots he'd gotten earlier that day was elective, which Pet Daddy had never mentioned. Later that night, I got an email from Pet Daddy--not asking if our pet was ok, but giving us a price quote for an additional surgery we'd spoken about earlier. I called Pet Daddy after all of this to tell them what happened and to cancel the booster shot we'd scheduled before all of the vomiting began, and they still recommended we do the booster anyway. The hospital vet explained that reactions after each round of vaccinations can be worse, so we would be putting our pet at a very high, unnecessary risk of we followed Pet Daddy's advice. These people are out of touch with their patients and are looking to make money. Question everything they say, or better yet, just don't go here. read more

This review is for a check up and a tooth extraction procedure my cat had done over the summer (blood work, anesthesia, ect). I was extremely nervous. Kitty healed extremely well. I was texted a photo of him as soon as he woke up after surgery, which made me feel a lot better. Also I got a call the day before the surgery and a follow up call after surgery (plus the free follow up appointment). I've since gone back for regular check ups with both of my cats. Customer service is exceptional- everybody is very nice. The office is very clean. My experience with my pet's surgery was very positive. As far as cost goes, this vet isn't cheap (he's not super expensive either)- but I think the money is worth the quality and peace of mind. read more

They have a very calm atmosphere, which calmed down my nervous kitty very quickly. I brought my cat Fritz in today as a new patient very last minute. I called around 9:30am this morning and they were able to see us at 10:45am without any wait. Dr. Yoo, the vet tech assistant, and Stephanie were all incredibly kind and patient with my boyfriend and I. I really appreciated how Dr. Yoo took our finances into account to get the best price available for us since we aren't particularly well-off folks. They took gentle and compassionate care of Fritz and made sure he got the treatment he needed for his upset stomach. I felt like we were in great hands the entire time and we're thankful for how thorough Dr. Yoo was with his explanations of what was going on with our cat. Friendly and informative. Whenever we're on our way to the park and walk by Dr. Pet Daddy Bowie pulled to go in. He knows where they keep the liver treats. Upfront I haven't been to Dr.Pet Daddy in about 1.5 years. I think Dr. Yoo is a good vet. Yes he's not overly chatty, but that doesn't bother me. But as many have pointed out, this is a very expensive place to take your pets, and that's saying something because before moving to Astoria we took our pets to a Park Slope Vet who catered to the wealthy surroundings and friends thought we were crazy to pay as much as we did there for pet care. But the costs at Dr. Pet Daddy far exceeded the PSBK Vet, and an uneasy sticker shock generally followed when handed the bill, which sort of is the opposite narrative that Dr. Pet Daddy pitches you at the onset. It all came of as kind of shocking as this is a very minuscule operation, sort of a pop-up shop sized office. In the end we switched to a more comprehensive veterinarian in Astoria, which and has a amazing number of vets, and far more reasonable pricing. read more
