I posted a review on maps but Dr. Ehmann flagged it and got it hidden. I'm hoping it can be seen here so people can know what happened to my cat.
My cat had a traumatic full tooth extraction with Dr. Ehmann in June of 2024. He suffered tremendously and ultimately passed away.
The full extraction was Dr. Ehmann's recommendation. When I went to pick him up after his surgery, he was returned to me in a very distressed state. He was howling and very agitated. His face was covered in blood.
After the surgery he continued to decline. He was not eating, showed discomfort despite pain meds and was withdrawn and unlike himself since the procedure with Dr. Ehmann. There was zero follow up from Dr. Ehmann besides an automated email the next day. I let her know my cat was not doing well and that I was very worried. I waited all day to hear back. Zero response from her. I messaged her again that evening and she finally sent a two sentence response at 9pm.
My cat continued to eat very little, I had to force feed him. He would turn his face away if anyone tried to touch it.
I was so utterly distraught by the lack of follow up care and unprofessionalism displayed by Dr. Ehmann that I decided to bring my cat elsewhere for follow-up care.
I emailed Modern Vet Care, clearly stated that my cat was unwell and that I was very worried. I asked for all my cat's medical records. I received everything except for the post-extraction x-rays which was the most important record that I needed from them.
My cat then developed an oronasal fistula after the dental surgery. It was an opening in his upper gum that went through to his nasal cavity. He developed an infection from the fistula that further degraded his health. I understand that these fistulas can develop after dental surgery due to trauma caused by the poor extraction methods.
I contacted the clinic and asked if they had taken X-rays after the extraction to confirm that there were no tooth fragments left behind which could be causing my cat pain. If so, I asked them to please send me the post-extraction X-rays. I got a response the next day that stated that they would look into the matter. A couple of days passed and I followed up again. There was no response. Then I sent a third message. I finally got another response from them that they were "downloading the files" and looking into the situation. I still didn't get the X-rays that I had requested. In total I asked them five times to send the X-rays and they did not send them.
I took my cat to three other vet practices for follow-up care trying to find out what was wrong with him. Two of those practices requested the post-extraction x-rays from Dr. Ehmann and they were never sent to them either. Modern Vet Care did not even acknowledge the requests.
From what I understand, a veterinarian is legally obligated to send records when requested by a client. I don't know why Dr. Ehmann did not send the post-extraction x-rays despite seven requests in total (five from me and two from two separate vet clinics.). My cat was not well and I wanted to be sure that his issues were not because of continued pain from the dental extraction which it seems like it was. I was not rude in making my requests. I have no idea why Dr, Ehmann could not send me the x-rays or even give an honest explanation for why they were not sent.
I feel that Dr. Ehmann's conduct has been highly unprofessional and unethical. Furthermore, I question her ability as a veterinarian due to the suffering she inflicted upon my cat. I do not feel that she has the expertise to conduct dental surgeries considering how poorly she treated my cat and her absolute lack of follow-up care.
I'm filing a complaint with the state about Dr. Ehmann's misconduct. I hope there will be some justice served for the sake of my poor cat who suffered tremendously and died. read more
