Prescription accuracy seems ok, I went in because I thought my prescription changed, which turned out it didn't, he told me it was because I wasn't using my bifocals (since I had gotten progressive bifocals and they don't usually work) and he showed me the strength of bifocals I would need which seemed incorrect but I didn't say anything because I figured he knew what I needed. I decided to buy some reading glasses in the strength I was prescribed to try it out and I can't see though them, I think they're too strong because I get a huge headache and end up holding what I'm reading only a couple inches from my face, closer to my face than without them. In my opinion he could work on his communication skills, I had a abnormal test result on the puff test and I needed to come back in for a couple more tests, most of the time he'd gesture to something and I wouldn't know what he'd want me to do and he'd sorta ridicule me as if I should know better, most of our conversations were "look here!" "no you're suppose to be looking over there!" "You're suppose to be keeping your eyes shut" "Why are your eyes still closed?" It seemed as thought he was always giving me incorrect instructions or expecting me to read his mind. I had appointment scheduled for another test but ended up canceling it because he's just to stressful to me, I'm just glad my insurance covered my visits because then it would have been a waste of money on top of a waste of my time and energy read more

Had an eye exam today. I have to say it was one of the most fun and relaxing appointments. Not only does he have Saturday appts , they are located in Eagle River. He has a great sense of humor and his staff had great costumer service! I feel like those two things are lacking in today's world! read more

My wife went to Dr. K's to get her eyes checked. Being a diabetic she needed a very good exam. She got one from Dr. K. She said he was very thorough and took time to explain all things she needed to know. I had a exam two days later and he was great. I definitely will go back. What a good optometrist. Great environment, clean and professional. There's even a area for the kids to play. Staff was super friendly and helpful, she took the time told go over things with me. When I asked about various types of lenses that I had heard of which they provided, she was honest and told me when she did and didn't think was necessary for my eyes, instead of trying to take every dollar which many other places would had taken advantage of, she never once tried to scam me or pull the wool over my eyes. I also like that this business provides military discount to our military families. I would highly recommend checking them out. read more

Worst eye dr exam ever. Dr K was very erratic and made weird and inappropriate comments for a medical office setting. He made me feel very uncomfortable as soon as I sat down. I hadn't had an eye exam in years and I was in desperate need of new glasses. I wish I had gotten up and left. He kinda made a racist remark too. I honestly think he needs therapy. I was silent most of the time and was visibly uncomfortable but he didn't seem to care. Maybe he had a really off day but I'll never return. read more

Potentially the worst eye Dr I have ever experienced. I went to Dr K's many years ago and listened to him make crotchety comments about Various minority cultures and avoided going back to his office after my first visit. In a time crunch several years later, I went back so I could get an updated prescription because they were one of the only offices open on Saturdays (busy work schedule prevented me from seeing my preferred Dr). Not only did they write me a paper prescription that was incomplete so it was very difficult to order contacts, they also lost the records of my most recent prescription so it was incredibly difficult to have my contact lens prescription verified by the contact provider I have used for years. Unless you're absolutely desperate for a Saturday appointment I would recommend any other eye Dr in the eagle river/anchorage area. read more

Thorough exam and a convenient location. Sometimes has a difficult to understand and somewhat offensive way of speaking. We had a miscommunication or two, but then he apologized, which i appreciated. Much more accurate prescription than my last one at Stanton Optical, that will hopefully provide some relief from my migraines. read more

What an unfortunate experience! I called there and spoke to the front office staff hoping for an appointment prior to year end due to our insurance. I was told they could get both myself and husband in but then named two insurance companies they do not work with. I told her that was not ours and we had UHC Vision. She said "ok, that's great!" My appointment was an hour ahead of my husbands after leaving work early in a very busy time of year for us. I was in my appointment with Dr. K and he was very unprofessional. I explained due to a shoulder injury I wasn't able to sit correctly for the exams and needed time. When I couldn't get my forehead against the rest the way I should he said "you don't follow direction very well do you?" He also told me to get closer so I accidentally pulled on the machine and almost tipped it off and he said "what are you doing?" Moving forward, in another exam he said "you're fogging the lenses on my machine! Pull the mask off of your nose, COVID doesnt spread through there!" As if that wasn't bad enough....I went out to my husband stating "I was just told they don't work with our insurance." What? That gal made a copy of my insurance and she never said a word as I waited 15 minutes. Dr. K then says (to me) "did she talk to Liz?" I said "who is Liz?" Apparently that's their insurance verification person? That was strange. My husband then cancelled his appointment since I was paying out of pocket for mine. Dr. K then went on a rant as to how insurance companies rip him off. Lastly, he and his front office gal, they clearly cannot stand each other. They were sarcastic and rude to each other in our presence. What a disappointment on every level! read more
