I've always been happy with Dr. Crawford, confident he was skilled in his profession. His assistant this year (I've never seen the same assistant twice) was great. Dr. Crawford is the reason I let my concerns about the rest of the staff slide for many years. P.S. In reference to Yelper Elite Toni's latest review on Makar. Just a side note regarding Accurate Vision: There are no hidden costs here at all, with the billing. During the pre-exam procedure, permission is asked for one particular test; cost approx. 30 dollars out of pocket. And even though I always decline, I appreciate the heads up. I started out as a patient with this clinic when their location was on Northern Lights Blvd., years ago. Then, it was rather like visiting someone's cozy home and provided the Alaskan memories of days gone by. Present day, Accurate Vision is more streamlined, and I'm not sure the word clinic jives up anymore, but no matter. Look for Urgent Care as a prompt to this place's building location which will be on your right while heading North on Minnesota Drive (toward downtown). Enter around the back of the building, and take the elevator which is just inside the door. Dr. Kyle Smith comes recommended in my book. He hasn't steered me wrong (as I have experienced with other eye doctors) thus providing thorough exams and correct prescriptions. His manner is upbeat, kind and professional. I am not too thrilled with the front desk service here, as there is an omnipresent thread of tension, and I don't know why. Also, the service provided with follow up texts after having set up an appointment, definitely needs some polish. I received 4 texts stating that I needed to fill out paperwork. Okay, but one method offered was to be done via a link, on my phone, which didn't work. I texted back that I prefer actual paper in person, and was given the response of yes, that will be fine when I come in. Come to find out, I didn't have to fill out any paperwork at all. (Alrighty then!) I came in for an eye exam 3 days before Christmas. This was not such a great idea on my part. I was burned out and so was the doc. (And most likely for entirely different reasons!) Having done some research, the cost for glasses here are definitely on the high side, so being able to take my script and go, is a big plus re: my budget. As much as I would love to try the glasses here, (and having insurance definitely helps) my wallet is still speaking otherwise! Having been to SO many eye clinics in my lifetime, Accurate Vision has been one of the best for me, if only because of Dr. Kyle Smith. read more

I went in for my exam and was given a lot of pressure as a 40-year-old woman to get bifocals. I was given a sample of multifocal contact lenses that I didn't need or want. I was not really listened to as the patient. I tried on some frames and wasn't given any sort of real estimate on paper. I asked for a written estimate of all costs for ordering the glasses and they sent me an informal email with two sentences and a total number. They did not provide any invoicing or itemize cost of the lenses and frames. The worst part of the deal is that they never gave me an actual copy of my prescription, both glasses and contacts. I paid for my exam, but they never gave me my actual prescription with the cells completed. I followed up with a request for a complete copy of my prescription and they sent me another copy that was still incomplete. I then tried to get 1-800 contacts to fill my order, but Accurate Vision Clinic would not cooperate with 1-800 contacts so now I can't order contacts! I would not recommend this place at all. If you go there, make sure you get a complete copy of your glasses and your contacts prescription and don't agree to anything if it's not in writing. Update: I had troubles seeing with the sample contacts provided and the prescription for the glasses that I bought using the glasses subscription they gave me. My new eye doctor at Makar Eyecare completed my exam and gave me my prescription. It was worlds away from the prescription that I got from so called "Accurate Vision Clinic." For example, I have a stigmatize on my left eye but not my right eye. The prescription given to me by Accurate Vision Clinic assigned me an extreme stigmatism in my right eye---NO WONDER I was having problems with the samples and the glasses!! I spent $400 on new glasses but with the bogus fishbowl headache prescription made by Accurate Vision Clinic. DO NOT GO THERE!! read more

I have been coming to this vision clinic for over 20 years now. The doctors are top notch and I highly recommend them. They accept insurance and they have a great staff! I am allergic to the dilating drops and the have what they call a mapping machine, which is a series of photographs that look to the back of the eye and the doctor can use this to look for issues. Insurance doesn't cover this procedure, why...I don't know, but it's easy and only costs 35.00 out of pocket, so it's worth it to me. They have a very clean and spacious office that is a bit inconvenient as the entrance is at the back of the building, but ample parking. They have an on-site eye ware store with a good selection of frames, however they are highly over priced I in my opinion, so I get my exams there and purchase my frames and lenses elsewhere. read more

These people are the best! I broke my glasses while visiting Denali National Park. I called my doctor back home and they gave me the run around about getting a copy of my prescription sent to me. They would only send it to an optometrist office. So I requested the fax and drove 4 hours to this office. I get there and no fax. I call my home doctor and they say they will fax again. Still no fax. Home doctor office closed (4 hours time difference) without getting the fax out! This office pre-sued the request and finally got it and was able to email it to me. They stayed right on it and helped even though I couldn't but my glasses from them! That is the definition of customer service! Thank you so much! read more

I was very happy with Accurate Vision getting me in first thing Monday morning after being at my cabin all weekend with an irritated eye. They did a thorough check to make sure it wasn't something serious and took the appropriate action to prevent it from getting serious. It's a very clean very modern as well. My issue wasn't really until I left. Dr. Smith told me to go to the front desk and sign out so I did and I was standing there waiting for a minute for her to take her eyes off the computer and let me sign out and I asked if I could go and she said yea very rude wouldn't look up at me. The first few times we loved this place. This year we have encountered incredible rudeness and confusion. We are being told multiple different stories over orders. The tech Meghan did a teach with my son and made him cry. When I called to follow up as instructed she answered the phone and was argumentative rather than addressing my concern She was rude. We will be finding new care for our family in the future based on our interaction. And I would not allow her near my children again. And we are not soft on our kids. read more

Nice staff. Good service. My sense is that the docs are cautious and careful. I'd recommend them to anyone.
