First off, let me say I'm a retired Dental Hygienist, with 35 years of dental experience…read more My first appointment was supposed to be for a new patient exam, and dental cleaning. I arrived on time for my 3:00pm one hour visit. I heard two ladies laughing in the back office and fooling around. At 3:15pm the Hygienist came out to greet me, and seated me in her room. ( the two fooling around were the hygienists) She talked with me, telling me what she is going to do that appt. I told her I had x-rays sent from the previous Dentist. She said the x-rays hadn't been sent. (The front desk told me ahead of my appt. that the x-rays had gotten to their office). At 3:25pm the Dentist came into the room. At this point there was 35 minutes left for my appt. The Dentist, Melissa, said she was going to do a new patient exam. I told Melissa "I guess I'm not having a dental cleaning today because there will not be enough time." Melissa didn't like that too much. ( This office touts one hour cleanings allotted for patients). When the dental exam was completed the Hygienist had 20 minutes remaining. (I was very surprised to hear the Hygienist in the room next door was done with her cleaning and was polishing the patient she brought back. This patient was brought back when I was brought back. That patient got a 20 minute dental cleaning, sadly). My Hygienist started to do a slow full mouth measurement/ probing/ gum measurement. She completed this at 3:55pm. You can see, if I hadn't said to Melissa, there isn't time for a dental cleaning, how I would have gotten a 20 minute cleaning also... and that would have been OK for the Dentist and Hygienist. I was rescheduled for a Dental cleaning when I was done. I scheduled with their only hired/regular/not temporary Hygienist. I learned the Hygienist I saw, and the one in the next room are "TEMPORARY HYGIENISTS" (Hygienists that are hired from an agency). I should have never gone back. The regular Hygienist wasn't thorough. I should have gone with my gut first time experience and found another office. My son had a new patient visit scheduled the following week. He was seen for a new patient exam, x-rays, and dental cleaning. I had the x-rays sent to me, so I have them for my records as well. The x-rays weren't diagnostic/readable. The angle of the x-rays were distorted, and teeth overlapped, so you couldn't see in between the teeth, checking for decay. I got a phone call from Melissa, saying my son needs a two surface filling. She further said my son said that that tooth was bothering him. Melissa said when she took an instrument in-between the two teeth that my son said it was painful.Melissa said she went in there a couple times and "didn't want to go in and check again, because it was painful for your son." I scheduled an appt to have that tooth filled. I looked at the x-rays after the conversation, and was shocked at the poor quality of the x-ray. There is NO way to see clearly if there was decay or not. I called Melissa and asked her how she diagnosed this decay without a diagnostic x-ray, and my boss would have had me retake the film/x-ray. She came back with a sassy "I'm sorry the x-ray isn't up to your standards." I said that the Hygienist should have retaken the x-ray, and could have. I had a bad feeling about this Dentist from the beginning. I sent the x-ray to our Dentist in California to review. He said it "isn't diagnostic at all and he could not tell if there is decay or not!!" I had to go to California for an appt. and scheduled my son to see the Dentist we'd seen for 20+ years. He said he needed to take an x-ray of that area....those teeth on the upper left side. WELL WELL WELL ....NO DECAY AT ALL. Melissa would have put a two sided/two surface filling into a tooth that didn't have ANY decay. She based her diagnosis on a tool/an instrument touching in-between my son's back molars. I again put in a call to Melissa about this. The front desk said she would pass along the message to "call me." TWO WEEKS went by with NO call. I called to be told by the receptionist, Dr. Kuhn had tried to call me a couple times. I said I never saw a missed call. The receptionist then said "Dr. Kuhn went to call a couple times, but didn't because she is VERY busy." I said I would like a call. Another week passed by, and I called this office again. This time the receptionist told me "Dr. Kuhn is just too busy to call you, and if you'd like to talk with her you need to make an appt." I told the receptionist I thought that was ridiculous for me to make an appt. to talk with this Dentist, for 5 minutes was unreasonable , given I'm 25-30 minutes away from their office....an hour round trip. The receptionist said that's it, schedule or not. In all my years of being a Dental Hygienist, I've not seen a Dentist having a patient with a question or comment, make an appointment to discuss. STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE. I'd give ZERO STARS if I could.......

First time I can recall having a good experience at the dentist!…read more At other dental offices, it was always the same problem - they didn't listen, aggressively pushed procedures on me I didn't want, and the results were mediocre, at best. As a child, it was traumatizing. As an adult, it was frustrating, and painful. Dr. Alford, and his staff, provide an entirely different and welcoming approach. When I told the hygienist I wanted minimal polishing paste for the cleaning, there was no pushback, just a simple agreement, professional, no drama. When I mentioned that I did not want ultrasonic cleaning as it was very painful, I was told they already noted that in my chart, and the subject was immediately dropped without pushback. That was a first! Not only that, between the hygienist and Dr. Alford, my cleaning was so thorough that afterwards I couldn't feel any rough spots from my problem areas that get a lot of tartar! My teeth are also whiter than they've been in years. I'm still kind of amazed, because I'm used to LONG sessions, and having to live with sandy areas because that was "The best they could do without the ultrasonic." I am super grateful to finally have a competent dentist to go to where I feel comfortable, safe, and my concerns and wishes matter. Dr. Alford is easy to talk to and put me right at ease, as did his hygienist. I don't know if it's because this is a pediatric specialty office, but the entire staff is naturally kind and considerate. It definitely takes a lot of empathy and patience to work with kids! Whether you're a nervous adult, or want to ensure your kids are in good hands, I highly recommend Alford Pediatric & General Dentistry for your whole family.

My five year old daughter developed a pimple-looking bump on her gum. I used our dental insurance's website to find a local dentist and was pleasantly surprised when these guys said they could get us in the same week. We met first with the hygienist for X-rays and a cleaning. Then Dr. Jackie came in. She was nothing short of amazing. She was soooo good with my daughter and made sure she was comfortable the whole time. Unfortunately, an extraction and a few caps are in our future. But Dr. Jackie explained it all so well and even gave us the option of an alternative to the normal novocaine shot and drilling. We are scheduled in a few weeks to have the work done. I feel at ease knowing Dr. Jackie is at the wheel

The recent process of dental work that I have had recently has left me looking for another dental office. During my visit in September 2025, I was informed that my bridge was 'failing' and in addition I had a cavity underneath a crown, and in addition to that, an adjacent tooth had to be removed. To me, as a lay person, this sounded like a tremendous amount of work and cost. I felt the office manager or Cercek should have sat down with me and gone over various options. However, I was only given a referral to an oral surgeon for implants. Implants did not seem to be a good option for me after having an appointment with the referral dentist. Aside from the exorbitant cost, the x-ray showed that I would need a 'sinus uplift'. The oral surgeon did not even bother to discuss the fact that I have periodontal disease and how that can sometimes complicate issues and even having the implants 'fail'! On my own, I researched other options such as a partial denture. I was very disappointed that no information or options were given to me by the office. I, again, had to research on my own what would potentially be my reimbursement from the insurance company because Cercek is out of network. I only had $825 left for 2025. In 2026, the maximum reimbursement would be $1,500. Because I did the research, I decided to split the dental work that needed to be done over December 2025 and January 2026. I made an appointment for December 17, 2025 and another for the partial on January 14, 2026 shortly after the September visit. I later found out (at the 17th appointment) that a minimum of 6 weeks is required for healing. From the 17th of 2025 to the 14th 2026 is only 4 weeks! My appointment was moved up one week to the 10th of December, but even still that is not 6 weeks! From my researching, yet again, I found out that healing can take up to 3 months. The fact that the office didn't take the time to help me in scheduling is a gross neglect! Back in 2011 I had the adjacent tooth pulled, the oral surgeon packed the gum with cadaver bone and put in a couple of stiches. The tooth that Cercek pulled had bone loss, and I even asked if there would be bone filled in, and the answer was no with no explanation. No stiches either. Why would I go in for a measurement for a partial denture when my gums/mouth are not completely healed. That makes no sense. So, I called to cancel my appointment for the 14th and to relay these complaints to your office manager. I was told she was in a meeting. Did not receive a call back, so called again and was asked if I could be put on a 'brief hold', which I did. 10 minutes after being on hold, I hung up. Called back yet again and was asked 'what is a good time that the office manager could call you back.' Very, very poor customer service. And this is not even the whole story, but that would require a very very lengthy review.

Front staff are super welcoming and very kind. They also take photos of their new patients which is a great way to get to know and remember everyone. I had a cleaning with Amber and she was very thorough. Had me going home with squeaky clean teeth. Very nice, and not awkward at all. Dr Chan and his staff don't make you feel weird or embarrassed or ashamed about your teeth which is huge. nobody likes to go to the dentist (sorry cypress) but when you have a great staff it makes it so much easier. I got a few fillings done, one was a little too high and they got me back in immediately to get it fixed which was awesome. I also really like how dr Chan talks to his staff especially assistants. I know it's a "small" thing but it really makes a huge difference for both me as a patient and then as an employee I'm sure. He said please and thank you and is so polite and nice it's nice to see a dentist who cares about his staff.

I took one of my kids back to the pediatric dentist and was told that there were "no cavities" and those were stains from the previously applied sealant, and that they wouldn't do a procedure that drills (repair cavity) on the tooth just for that. The pediatric dentist examined the x rays taken at Cypress and did an examination as well. A big difference on approach, which may compromise tooth health, and where I felt that this dentist was profiting more than providing good care.

First can we just talk about how great this location is, close to midtown, middle of everything, still ample parking. Looked to be a former residential residence, the building has so much character. Incredibly friendly and helpful throughout without the awkward chatter many of us are accustom too in the chair- you know the continuation of questions while they are taking care of your visit for an in and out, in and out (the instruments) type of experience. They told me that they could bill the secondary after the primary insurance decided what they would cover. The office manager never billed my secondary, she would constantly call and text to get me to pay the difference. After three visits of "you owe us money" because they didn't bill my secondary, I was done. Cindy is very rude and snooty. She even told my husband that I still owed them $130 from a "really long time ago" when it's actually on $37. Even the voicemail saying "we've waited a long time for this" is outrageous to me. You didn't bill my insurance, you tried to get money out of ME instead.
