How many stars can you really give to a trip to the dentist?…read more I've highly recommended Dr. Rusk's office for those who need a good dentist in the downtown area. I found him realistic and helpful, and the hygienists efficient, effective, and cheerful. If you've been putting off a trip to the dentist, make an appointment here. My only real complaint is that they are so busy that it is hard to get an appointment quickly. I gather that this is exacerbated by the mandatory consultation for new patients, although I scheduled a consultation and a cleaning at the same time and didn't have much of a problem. in any case, if the worst thing that you can say about them is that they are too popular, it still means you should go if you can.

I'm torn. I would give a higher rating to him because I do think he is a good dentist. On my…read morefirst visit, it was an emergency, but he took me in almost right away. He is very friendly and he is a pretty good dentist. That being said, I'd only go there if you're a guy. He started to give me a hug after a procedure because I was crying (novocaine does NOTHING for me, as do most pain medicines), and I thought that was nice. He was actually empathetic. Two procedures/visits later (all within a month), he called me at home to see how I was feeling. That's nice of him, I guess. Until he asked me out shopping to Neiman Marcus that weekend and said he'd buy me anything I wanted. Now, I love shopping at Neiman's, but I was NOT looking for any sort of creepy sugar daddy. So unfortunately, I had to end the phone call and find another dentist.

I had a very bad experience with cleaning, cavity diagnostic, filling the cavity and over-selling…read morepricy products that I never used. Let me explain in below: Cleaning: Doctor Lopez herself did my cleaning since it was my first time there and it was horrible. I had so much pain while she was cleaning and my gum was bleeding heavily, as she used a metal pin to scratch the teeth. In none of my past cleanings, I felt so bad. My teeth were extremely sensitive afterward for a few days as I think she introduced some new holes in my teeth. Cavity diagnostic: She took an Xray and argued 6 of my teeth need to be filled immediately. I regularly go to the dentist for checkups and it was never the case that they recommend fixing 6 teeth at once. Filling cavity: I don't trust if she did it right. Based on what he showed me on a software analyzing my Xrays, shallow part of my teeth had a cavity but she carved very deep into teeth to "super clean" all the germs. I think this actually creates a problem for my teeth in the future. Upselling products: She sold a very expensive night guard (300$) which I never got used to it. I don't recommend her.

A terrible prosthodontist. Don't believe Washingtonian Magazine. He insisted on pulling teeth,…read moreplacing implants on top and bottom and fitting a denture all in the same day. Although this may be possible for some, in my case, there is severe bone loss making this approach very high risk. In spite of he talking directly to other specialists I found who recommended a more conservative approach, he still insisted on on what he wanted. In addition, his approach would cost me $60K compared to the conservative approach of $20K. A friend of mine went their recently because his kid chipped a tooth. Dr. Pollack wanted $5K and was extremely invasive! My friend went to another dentist and it cost about $500 and you can't even tell it was chipped.

Had a fine experience through them during the visit, however insurance did not fully cover a bill…read moreand I have been told that I was mailed an invoice 7 times yet I have not received one. I was also given a call to setup another appointment a month or so after the appointment which I told them I'd have to setup at a later date and during that call, I was never notified of the bill. I was then sent to collections for twice the amount of the bill despite not receiving one of the seven invoices that they claim they mailed or a single call or email regarding the bill even though they have both of those. I some how managed to receive the collections bill on the first try, however. After talking with them about this, they are unwilling to solve this outside of collections. If you plan on using them, I would recommend calling after every visit to make sure you don't have a bill as they may just not notify you and send you to collections. I however, will be looking elsewhere to get my braces done as I cannot justify using someone who doesn't care enough about their clients to use any of the methods they ask for to reach out before sending them to collections. Edit: I would like to note that I am 21, not 17 or younger, and would expect that I would be contacted for a bill not my 'Guardian' regardless if it is my personal insurance or my Step-Father's. My information was the one given, I should be contacted.
