Dr.Bui is amazing! Over the summer I'd visited a larger corporate dental chain. I was told at that appointment that I needed over $2,000 worth of dental work and left without a cleaning. Fortunately, I decided to get a second opinion. After combing the internet for recommendations I chose Dr. Bui and I'm so glad I did. After taking the time to look at and properly clean my teeth Dr. Bui determined that I didn't in fact need that much work and my bill would be hundreds not thousands once all was said and done. Typically when you visit the dentist you see the hygenist the majority of the visit and the dentist for about 5 minutes. Not at Dr. Bui's office. She sat with me for over an hour. My fiance visited before me and she did the same with him. She cleaned my teeth herself and talked over every bit of my treatment plan with me. I've found it's getting more difficult to find dentist's that are honest and conservative with care ( while still doing necessary work). Dr. Bui is that dentist! read more

When we lived in Arlington we had been seeing a dentist over in Maryland, and when we moved to Manassas it got to be a little too far to go so we started looking for a new dentist. We tried a big corporate place, but they didn't give the personal care. The doctor came in, did what needed to be done and then billed the bejesus out of us. There was no time to ask questions about what he was doing or hygiene. Dr. Bui has a smaller office, and she always comments on the status of your hygiene so you better be sure to brush and floss or you're going to hear about it. Going to the dentist never used to bother me. I'd go in, get whatever fillings or cleaning that needed to be done and then leave. In my old age I've developed an anxiety disorder, and I get a little nervous now. One time there was a small cavity on my front tooth. Dr. Bui said that it was a quick and easy fix and didn't even need anesthesia. She said that she would give me anesthesia if I needed it, but both Dr. Bui and her assistant are attractive ladies, and I didn't want to appear to be a wimp so I agreed to go without anesthesia. I was scared. But I didn't feel a thing. The office is homey. Dr. Bui and the staff are very nice. We always look forward to seeing Dr. Bui and Maria. They put you at ease. I'd recommend this to any of my fellow anxiety sufferers. read more

This is a small operation- just Dr. Bui, her assistant, and the receptionist up front. I have to say, small is better! Dr. Bui really puts care into her work. I had to get a cavity refilled and my font incisor rebonded (from a chipped tooth fron childhood). On my rebonding, this was the third time I have had it done (usually lasts about 10 years), and she did noticeably better work than the previous two dentists. I can't even tell it is a bonded tooth anymore. In conclusion, I highly recommend Dr. Bui. My experience has been nothing but positive. read more

Just began going to Dr. Bui; my only regret is that I didn't come here sooner... my previous dentist's office was a run-of-the-mill HMO shop, upselling at every turn, with very little time with the actual dentist (who would only cursorily check my teeth for 30 seconds after a cleaning). Found Dr. Bui's reviews on here and decided to check her out based on recommendations. Agreed with the other comments; she is engaged in every step of the way (from the initial consult, cleaning, and orthodontic discussions). Her business caters to patients, not to insurance companies, and she manages her time extremely well. She focuses on general dentistry, and maintains a network of specialists for orthodontic or oral surgery. This allows her to focus on her job and provide the best value to her patients. Her staff is prompt, courteous, and efficient administrators. No problems with my insurance or any of the paperwork. My family recently moved back to Manassas and I was so happy to see that Dr. Bui was still practicing in the same office on Sudley Rd. My family and I have been seeing Dr. Bui-Nguyen for years. Her staff is always friendly, courteous, and patient. Even my children aren't "afraid to visit the dentist." Dr. Bui-Nguyen is very friendly and hands on and pays careful attention to details with the care of her patients. Even when we move all around the Northern Virginia region, we continue to go see Dr. Bui-Nguyen in Manassas. It's unfortunate that I have to write this review. My expectation of this dentist was very much different. First visit was a few months ago at which time I felt greatly comfortable and really liked this office. Thought everyone was really nice. Sadly, this all changed today. Was able to make it in today and got the shock of my life after being berated by Dr. Bui. I have never been spoken to like this by ANY doctor or dental office the way I was spoken to today. I'm not sure if Dr. Bui was having a bad day, but whatever was going on, I somehow got the brunt of her anger. She told me she didn't think I was a good fit of a patient because I had a different understanding of the work that was going to be done. She then proceeded to tell me since it's been a few months, I don't remember what she said, that she wrote everything in her notes and she wouldn't lie. I was simply just trying to understand which procedure would be done.... For that I experienced something which no patient should have to, humiliation. At no time during her tirade did I raise my voice, curse or anything of that nature. I told her I didn't understand the hostility because I wasn't being nasty or anything??? She escalated very quickly and all in front of my son in the next room. I'm not one to cry in public, but she made me cry to the point that I had to walk out of the office. When my son was finished he was concerned and said he couldn't believe she raised her voice to me like that. I'm thankful that my walk with Christ will allow me to forgive. I pray that she can get past whatever was bothering her and be a more understanding and professional dentist. read more

I just started going to Dr. Bui for my dental needs. Before my first appointment I was called to go over some insurance issues to make sure everything would be covered. This is the first dental office that has ever taken the time to do the leg work for the insurance, especially without having been seen yet. From Trista at the front desk, to Maria, the assistant, to Dr. Bui, everything was great. They are all very friendly and will try to make you laugh and make you comfortable. Dr. Bui found a couple of issues but instead of trying to sell the corrections right away she said it would be fine to watch them for a while and therefore not do unnecessary work. After 11 years without dental insurance, we FINALLY can go to a dentist; thank goodness we landed on this one!!! After reading all kinds of reviews on Yelp, I saw not only was Dr. Bui's office very close to my home, but she got all positive ratings...and for good reason. We finally got dental insurance and also had the money to pay the deductible on it for our family of five, so this was my son's first time to EVER see a dentist and he is 10 years old. So you can imagine that I was scared out of my mind as a mom calling to make the appointment as I got my self ready to get a verbal lashing for parental negligence. That was SO NOT THE CASE. The receptionist was super friendly, did not make me feel stupid and was so nice and walked me through the process. Then yesterday at the appointment, they were so gentle to my son- as he was scared out of his mind too, and taught him hygiene technique and talked him (and I) through everything. I started seeing Dr. Bui several years ago when I lived in Manassas and continue to see her even though I have moved 35 miles away. She has never up-sold me. On a complex dental issue she consulted with peers, referred me to a specialist for another opinion and provided me with options which allowed me to make an informed, cost-effective solution with which I was comfortable. I first came to see this dentist for the convenient location to my work and because she seemed to have fairly good reviews...BOY did I make the WRONG decision. The first thing I experienced when I walked in was an awful odor of a mixture of mildew and exotic food. The extremely repetitive dental video playing in the run down looking waiting room was terribly annoying, although I much would've preferred to hear that over the extremely loud air compressor seemingly located in the office kitchen....that can't be very sanitary.... I will say that the front desk person and the dental assistant were the most pleasant part of my experience. They were extremely kind and answered any question I had and made me feel welcome and at home. The dentist on the other hand was a very different type of person. First of all, before she even entered the room, I could hear her in the other exam room speaking boisterously loud with a different patient about some pretty serious topics that she seemed very ignorant about. For example, saying things like she didn't understand how "other" parents are able to send their kids to college, and just being very full of herself and speaking endlessly about her own life. When she finally entered my exam room, she asked me a few questions about myself, but everything always seemed to go right back to herself and her life and her "chi". The equipment was not updated at all, very old and run down. Usually, you see at least one, if not two, computer screens in exam rooms to go over x-rays, do perio-charting, etc. but in this office there was one laptop being moved around from room to room, and at one point would not even work. She then ordered the only front desk person to figure out what was wrong with it, on top of all the duties she was performing by herself already. I have a history of regularly going to the dentist every 6 months and brushing and flossing, but she somehow managed to find "small" cavities, which she ordered me to make another appointment for, rather than asking what I would like to do. It was a terrible mistake to ever do that since the fillings that she did do felt absolutely awful and nothing like my natural teeth. I even had to go to another dentist to have them fixed and adjusted. Let me just finish off by saying that there was no better feeling than getting as far away from that dentist and that office as possible and never returning. I guess what I can take away from it all is that I have found everything I DON'T want in a dentist or a dental office. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bui since 2001. Dr. Bui is the best dentist I have ever had. She makes going to the dentist enjoyable as opposed to frightening. Dr. Bui does have a gentle touch. I never hurt...she always makes sure I have enough numbing and the optional gas before working on my teeth. Dr. Bui does have a great memory...she remembers everything both medically and personally!!! I go twice a year for check-ups and x-rays. I always enjoy her friendly staff. I moved to Manassas in 2000 and made an appointment with her based on a recommendation from a friend of mine. Dr Bui and her staff were very friendly and always made me feel at home. In addition to the excellent service she provides, Dr Bui takes an interest in you and genuinely cares about your well being. That is one of the things that has kept me a loyal patient for so long even though I moved to NE DC in 2010. Despite the distance, I continue to make the hour drive to Manassas because of the great service and care I receive. Though the staff and Dr. Bui are very nice, I don't think this is a very honest dentist. I have always had good oral care and never had a cavity in my life until I got braces off (as an adult) which is to be expected. Several years later with a couple of new dentists (I moved a lot) my teeth always checked out - no cavities. My first visit here she made remarks that I had 2 cavities and she couldn't believe that my previous dentist had missed it, it was so large. Ok, so fillings it was. But then, I went here 3 more time for regular cleanings. Each and every time I had yet again, 2 more cavities. When I came in for fillings she would literally drill for 3- 5 seconds and the whole visit would take like 10 mins. Now if you've ever had an actual cavity you know that this is not normal. I really felt like I was being taken advantage of as a way for her to get more money. I told myself before my last 6 month cleaning that if she tells me I have 2 more cavities that I'm never coming back, and that's what happened. I didn't want to establish with another dentist until I bought a house, and knew I'd be moving again...long story short it's been over 2 years since my last dentist appointment (with Dr. Bui) and low and behold I have no cavities!! You'd think those 2 I was diagnosed with last time would be out of control by now. Nope, non-existent!! So if you are currently her patient and this is happening to you I'd seek another opinion. I am new to the Northern Virginia area and have been asking around (friends, family, co-workers) for a reputable dentist to start going to see. I always received the same answer from each person which was they wouldn't want to see me settle for their dentist. My mouth is extra sensitive and when it comes to people working in my mouth- I have to be honest I act like a young child. I was referred to Dr. Bui by a current patient of hers and after leaving my first appointment I called my friend and thanked her profusely. Dr. Bui is so welcoming, calming, and compassionate even Dr. Bui's assistant is a joy to be around. Dr. Bui really worked with me by taking the time out of her day to answer all my questions and recommended unbiased options for some work I wanted to complete and I left her office in a fit of joy.
