While the staff there is nice as I've gone a few times for fillings last year, their billing practice seems to have quite a few discrepancies. Every time I've gone, I've paid my bill & was good to go (over $400 worth out of pocket before I could leave). Dr. H had asked if I wanted a desensitizing treatment for my cavities. I had asked if they were covered by my insurance & she said yes so I went ahead and got it. The second time I received it for my other side, the front desk tried to charge me over $400 for it. I was like no- it should be covered that's what I was told by Dr. H. They said okay no worries we'll take care of it. They are calling me now 4 months later saying I have a $700+ bill overdue that I've never received nor was told about when I closed my account in November because of these treatments. Even the person on the phone was telling me she's shocked it's so much because she usually only sees it for $30 a tooth... make it make sense. Where did this bill all of a sudden come from? They better figure it out because I wouldn't have gotten the treatment otherwise if they had stuck to their word. Or had come back multiple times if I had known they were going to be so mistrusting to their word. I'm honestly exhausted of financial malpractice at dentist offices. I had thought I finally found a decent one. But this really took me over the edge. They told me at the end of last year that for 2026 they would stop taking my insurance, Delta Dental, which so many people have. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the patient/doctor experience & financial department & they'll continue to lose patients if they continue this. So beware! read more

I have been coming to this dentist since I moved to Frederick and they are wonderful. Their hygienists are really nice, and all the dentists I've seen (Dr. Patel and Dr. Hailemelecot) are wonderful. I believe this location also serves special needs individuals which is so wonderful. I would definitely recommend them :) read more

Dr. Levy did a wonderful job with our 2-week-old daughter's tongue tie release. Our daughter was diagnosed by a lactation consultant with a tongue tie that was causing me significant pain while breastfeeding. Dr. Levy was able to get us in within a few days to have the procedure done. He performed the frenectomy with local anesthesia and a scalpel. Our two older children had laser frenectomies at other locations, but I preferred the scalpel method because my husband and I were able to stay with our baby the entire time (other practices do not allow parents in the room if the frenectomy is performed with a laser). Dr. Levy did an excellent job of explaining what to expect during the procedure, which took less than 10 minutes total. After the frenectomy, our daughter was more fussy than normal for about 1.5 days, but nursed successfully just 1 hour after the procedure. The nursing pain for me significantly decreased after the procedure. I'm very happy with the level of care and compassion that Dr. Levy and his hygienists gave us! read more

Be careful with their dental business practices and charges. They refer you to go somewhere else and then you come back and they charge you more money. They do not tell you everything upfront. We had to pay over a thousand dollars at a referral which we thought was going to do all of the work but then we did nt know we had to come back to Levy's office to complete the work and pay another thousand dollar to finish the work. Misleading. Zero transparency and communication. That's how some places work and make money. Zero integrity or compassion. They told my son who is a college student who does not have a full time job yet that they would not do the job if he did not pay up front. Leaving him no choice or he would have to leave the office with an unfinished dentist work. Time to look for another dentistry. Hopefully more honest and transparent and with care. read more

This practice says that they are not your typical dental practice, that everybody is a unique individual... I found this out yesterday when I called to cancel an appointment for my daughter who is down with the flu as well as strep. Much to my horror, the practice will not see me or my children until *may*! When my husband has had to cancel due to illness, he's always been seen the next month. Truly appalling and maybe a tad discriminatory..the receptionist told me they "have a policy" well, my policy is that my children and I get regular dental care in guidance with the American Dental Association... I'd use the word family, but as they have never treated my husband in such a manner, I am left to wonder about the business model of this practice. read more

I'm very pleased with the everyone at Dr. Levy's office after having a crown replacement, an exam, two cleanings and the most recent extraction of three remaining roots from an old broken molar. I had put it off, concerned that the procedure would be difficult. Dr. Levy was quite skillful in numbing the area, causing no discomfort at all and then carefully avoided contact with the neighboring crown while expertly extracting the roots. I had arrived on time and was out of the office in 20 minutes flat. It is also clear they are using best practices with PPE, hygiene (patient and staff), and special sanitizing equipment in the halls. My son has also been a patient for over 4 years, convincing me to use them for my own dental care. They are safe and they really know their business. read more

My autistic son ended up having to lose three teeth removed because this dentist wouldn't see him. They only see autistic patients on Tuesdays and wouldn't even do that degenerate COVID started. Dentist advised that we wait until his six month appointment to address small cavities and then wouldn't see hi for a year and a half. By then, he had to lose the teeth. It away agreed at that tie that his dentist would see him every three months. That is right now. But they refuse to make an appointment for him now until May. I'm planning legal action. Do not use this dentist... under any circumstances. This practice doesn't give a damn about the welfare of its patients... least of all those with disabilities. read more

(I am writing as a medical advocate for a patient in this office.) This should have been a 5 star review. Dr Levy was amazing. He signed with me in support of our spoken conversation with the patient. He accommodated anxiety and PTSD in multiple individuals simultaneously, to a point of rearranging furniture. He was clear about his recommendations. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to complete treatment because his office staff are so thoroughly incompetent and dishonest that (bearing out the initial red flag of their communications and scheduling specialist only working with spoken word by telephone and not being sufficiently tech savvy to write or read a basic email) they gave us incomplete and incorrect information for over two months before finally telling the patient to go to a different doctor and callously and mockingly recommending she have all her teeth pulled and get dentures. (Also: We were never able to reconnect with the communications and scheduling specialist because she was occupied with "special needs day," described to us by front desk in terms of vile slurs against the patients being served on this day.) read more

I honestly cannot comprehend the poor reviews on this site. I have been using Dr.Levy for almost a decade and have had a consistent wonderful experience the entire time. The office is conservative in their approach and have never recommended work that was not needed. Several weeks ago, Dr. Levy pulled two teeth for me. I had expected to be sedated but had too recently. He said he would pull them with local numbing. I was scared to death but the operation could not have been easier! It took only about 20mins and there was NO pain at all. Healing was quick and easy. I should also tell you that he did it all with me in my wheelchair! I have never been to a dental practice where everyone was so kind and considerate as the employees of this practice. I've been going to Dr. Somerville's since I moved to Frederick 35+ years ago. At one time we changed dentist because they they stopped taking our particular insurance. After one visit to another dentist we switched back to Dr. Somerville. Both him and Kristen (hygienist) are excellent and they both make an uncomfortable experience for me much much easier. read more

Dr. Harvey is a specialist in dentistry for special needs patients. My daughter is very, very handicapped, with CP & mentally challenged. She cannot talk. She is petrified around doctors of course. She takes meds that damage teeth terribly. After 21 years with wonderful Mark Barren in G'Burg, we found Levy in Frederick. Eric ENJOYS Dr. Levy & staff. She enjoys them! Dr. Levy is patient, thorough, explains everything and the staff goes out of their way to accommodate us w/our heavy wheelchair, nervous Mom, etc. We are very happy with this practice. These other reviewers are crazy. This is a WONDERFUL practice. Very efficient, clean, friendly. Our whole family comes here....kids thru adults! Maybe we are lucky, and are blessed with good teeth...but its mostly in the HYGIENE, people! Great staff. Lots of magazines in the lobby. TV to watch while you are tilted back. Never had any insurance issues, etc. I cannot attest to working with someone on a "payment plan" for any large issues, but they are all so friendly, I can't see them NOT working with patients on financing. I have been a long-time patient of Dr. Harvey Levy since 2007. Both my wife and I are ongoing patients of the practice and we have been very satisfied with the service and quality of work since day one. There's no difficulty in dealing with rude or incompetent office staff as in other doctor's offices - Dr. Levy's staff always have a smile for us. I live in Baltimore, but drive out annually to Frederick to see Dr. Levy as I have not had a better dentist. The reviews here make zero sense to me, as I have never had any issues with Dr. Levy, his associates (i.e., Dr.s Patel, Bushan and Sommerville, all of whom I have seen on various visits), or his staff members. All are adept at their responsibilities and I have nothing but the highest praise for them. Dr. Levy's dental cleaning staff always clean my teeth well. They always have a smile for me (almost ironic, given that they are a dental practice!) and make sure that I know what I need to do for the next time I visit (I.e., floss better, brush in certain areas, etc). Dr. Levy (or one of his associates) always comes in to check my teeth for issues and to speak with me. I never feel like a number or like they are rushing to get to the next patient - I have asked numerous questions and every question is answered at length. Dr. Levy himself is second to none in his field. He spends time discussing my dental concerns with me. He handles cavities (I have plenty) with aplomb. When he operates on me, he is careful to avoid unnecessary pain, and always stops immediately when I indicate any discomfort, taking the utmost care for my comfort. He always maintains his professionalism, and is straightforward and honest with me. You cant go wrong with this practice. read more

Took my Aunt to have top and bottom partials replaced so her smile would look nice again.We picked a plan and proceeded.It was to take a few months and cost close to $5000.We picked the most expensive to insure the outcome be the best.Well after two visits they said the finals would be ready in a week.I asked about the bottoms and they had no idea what I meant.So the expressions they did.We picked up the final dentures and they are awful.One tooth on top doesn't even meet the gums and the two silver teeth on the other side where not covered up.I asked them over and over that they would be taken care of but they are still there.I would stay far away from this dental clinic. read more

I would stay away at all costs. This dentist once served a summons at my home while my husband was deployed to Iraq for a bill that was not paid in a timely manner. With two small children at the time and my husband in harm's way, I had been a bit distracted. I was also in the army reserves at the time. The police officer could not understand why this dentist proceeded in the way that he did. I am a retired LTC and my husband a retired COL now. We have never encountered and hope to never encounter again a practice such as Dr. Levy's. To this date I do not understand what the summons was about. The tooth that he filed so that a crown on another tooth would fit still has a rough and unpleasant texture, and this is 15 years after he had said it would soon be as smooth as it had originally been. read more

I went to this practice for years. Every time I went I was told I had 7-8 cavities, my insurance was capped out twice with them then they also apply a hefty finance charge on top of any payments you make. The hygienists are sloppy, make sure they have the correct chart. The hygienist grabbed my husbands chart and started to work on my son. They blamed me for the confusion, saying I brought in my son on my husbands appointment and I think I know the difference between the two. The last appointment I went to I was told again I had the same number of cavities. I wanted a second opinion this time, so I went to another dentist who said my teeth looked great. i went to this office and had a horrible experience. my nitrous was watered down. i had two teeth that snapped in half after a procedure and now another filling just fell out and yet another filling turned an ugly bright white. even though all these terrible things happened i was still willing to give them another chance until i had a chance encounter with two other patients that had the exact same thing happen to them. i sensed something was amiss at this practice and they might only be concerned about money. i would not recommend this practice to anyone that values their smile. read more

Selected Dr. Levy's practice as my general dentist suspected I needed a root canal. I arrived for my early morning appointment only to discover my appointment wasn't in their system.. Staff assured me it wasn't an issue and they would work me in. After a very short wait both Dr. Levy and Dr. Patel explained in detail the necessary steps to identify my tooth pain, providing outstanding support during the entire process. I was very impressed with the entire staff's positive attitude and their willingness to work me into their schedule. High praises all around for Dr. Levy, Dr. Patel and their staff. read more

That's why I've decided to post. I have been going to this dental practice for over 5 yrs and have never been overcharged or had work done that was not absolutely needed. I have been going to this practice for years along with my husband and daughters. We have all received excellent service and care. I have some dental phobia and Dr Patel has gone out of his way to alleviate my concerns and explain everything to me step by step. One of my daughters has high anxiety and not even a pediatric dentist was able to get x-rays on her. Donna was able to accomplish it on the first try. My other daughter has special needs and has received wonderful, sensitive, supportive care while getting her fillings done. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Dr. Levy is wonderful. A very gentle, cooperative caring man. He took care of my autistic son, as well as my 5 year old. He is very patient, and im shocked honestly at the other reviews. He is not good, he is sensational. We had a procedure scheduled in the office and my son did not respond to sedatives. He didn't get a dime for the visit which took about 45 minutes of trying. We agreed that it was best to do that in a hospital setting. Some doctors would have been ticked off for wasting time, not Dr. Levy at all. read more

My husband had orthodontic problems and so much spacing between his teeth that he was very self-conscious about smiling and speaking publicly. He saw Dr. Bhushan who recommended him to Drs. Bloom & Reddy for orthodontic treatment followed by veneers on his front teeth to build them up and fill in the spaces. Dr. Bhushan was very attentive and inclusive in the decision process. She explained everything clearly and made us feel comfortable. She went out of her way to find a local lab that would make his teeth look beautiful and he would be able to visit if their were any complications. His smile now makes him look like a whole different person and his veneers look so natural! My husband has a new found confidence that I attribute to the amazing work Dr. Bhushan performed. NO STARS! I was in the hospital with flu like symptoms. I had one tooth that had, had a root canal done and I never got it crowned so it was basically dead. It was in the back and causing no pain so I left it alone. I became ill with flu like symptoms that couldn't be explained so the hospital staff began to suspect an infection from the tooth. A dr was called in from this practice and said the tooth needed to be pulled and perhaps a few others. At least 3 (maybe 4). All of this being observed by the naked eye and the tap of a tooth with an instrument that he had. We held off on the procedure. Turned out that what I had, had NOTHING to do with my teeth. Upon being discharged and once I felt better I went to the dentist for a cleaning and oral exam. Although the dentist agreed that pulling the dead tooth would be good...it could also be left if I wanted to. But he did warn that somewhere down the road it could get infected. Mind you...it's been this way for 5 years and no issues. In the end there were NO other teeth that needed to be pulled. This practice is aggressive and very avaricious. I would not go there under any circumstances. read more
