I came here once for a wisdom tooth removal & the procedure went fine but the staff at the front desk are very rude. They don't know how to talk to patients and have no compassion whatsoever. I scheduled an appt for a second time for my other 2 wisdom teeth and the traffic was insane and unavoidable. I called to let them know and asked if I'll still be seen and they tell me "i dont know what you want me to tell you." ... this is how you talk to a patient ?? I hung up on these rude $15 an hour Russian assholes and will take my great dental insurance elsewhere. Frankenstein! This monster had students at Lutheren Medical Dental Center. He was the overseeing instructor/ Doctor. 8 implants put in my mouth facing outward instead of straight down. Not once did he follow up with me. It took me 14 months to find out I had been a lab rat of a bad experiment. 2 years later, I need surgery after surgery just to start to rebuild destroyed gum and bone. Dr. Boris Zats is the absolute BEST oral surgeon out there!!! I was having horrific tooth pain and was told that 3 of my wisdom teeth needed to come out. I had been referred to Dr. Zats by my sister a former patient of his and decided to take the plunge and go for it! I called his Forest Hills office to make an appointment and although he was all booked up, they added me to his calendar after I advised that it was an emergency and that I was in severe pain. I went in Saturday morning and was literally sick to my stomach from fear but once I met Dr. Zats I was "A OK"! He is fantastic, and has great bed side manner. He made me feel at ease and his calm demeanor made me feel more relaxed. He put me "under" and the next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. After having 3 wisdom teeth removed I expected to be sore and out of commission for days.. NOPE NOT AT ALL!!! I was actually eating chicken parm the next afternoon, with NO swelling, and very little pain. Dr. Zats is amazing, and I would definitely recommend!! I couldn't be more satisfied with DR, Zats's professional attitude and service. I got my three implants there at the same time. I felt nothing and had no pain on the next day. Zero. I mean none. Nada. And I feared that the most. Amazing sergeant! Not a butcher at all. He made minimal incisions for the minimum amount of time ( the whole surgery last about 30minuts) and he was willing to negotiate the price. What else can you ask? Tip #1: he has the crazy busy schedule. The wait time is approximately two months. Book in advance. Tip#2: you have to follow all the instructions after the procedure. Take them seriously. I've been told to hold the ice pack outside of the installation places for 2 hours. Man, I chewed ice for the rest of the day. I'm not kidding. read more

STAY AWAY!! I had a tongue biopsy in February 2014 here. I waited over an hour for my consultation. I clearly remember the doctor being very dismissive. The consultation was no more than five minutes. I had some pigmentation on the tip of my tongue and the doctor decided I needed a biopsy. He said it would be quick and easy and did not explain anything which left me trying to simultaneously process that I would have a tongue biopsy done and what questions to ask. He sat there staring at me so I said alright and started walking out. Then I turned back and asked about the pain. I'll never forget he said "it'll be like a pizza burn". I felt like my worries weren't warranted and that he was being dismissive. I came in for my tongue biopsy and it was a different doctor. Basically the doctor injected a local anesthetic, took a pair of scissors and biopsied my tongue, and stitched it up. When I got home the pain was EXCRUCIATING. All I could think about was "pizza burn" my ass. I was so infuriated. It felt like someone took a knife and chopped off the tip of my tongue which basically happened. I struggled with a puréed diet for the next week. My biopsy was negative and everything was normal. THE WORST PART: Even now, over two years later, the tip of my tongue is NUMB. No one ever mentioned that the tip of my tongue could become permanently numb. As a nurse myself, I wonder why no one ever mentioned this to me or thought to weigh permanent nerve damage against monitoring the hyper pigmentation. I put my trust in this doctor and it completely blew up in my face in the worst way possible. I hate this place and these doctors for doing this to me. My guess is they saw an opportunity to make some money and went ahead. Clearly patient outcomes are not a priority. I've thought over the years to come back and tell the doctors about my story, but this place always has over an hour wait and the tension in the waiting room from the long waits is so stressful. If I had the time, money, and knowledge that suing would be feasible I'd absolutely consider it. From one health care professional to another, I can't believe there are people out there who would treat their patients like this. read more

Zero stars! I woke up in excruciating pain from a tooth that I have been told may need to be extracted, and I called this office, as it's my regular dentist. I spoke to the Receptionist and explained to her my situation. She told me that they can not fit me in and I needed to make an appointment. When I tried to make an appointment the receptionist, who was very rude, refused to recognize the urgency of my situation and help me book an appointment anytime soon. I have been to Dr. Zats for oral surgery twice, once for an implant about 4 years ago, and once for an extraction this week. After this week's experience I felt I had to write a review, because he is a great doctor who not only does a great job but cares about his patients. His staff are professional and friendly. I have heard some complain about the woman at the front desk who deals with insurance matters, my take on her is that she is very straightforward, 'no nonsense'. She will give you her unvarnished assessment of what your insurance will and will not cover and what you will be responsible for. I appreciate that, it is much better than going in not really knowing how badly your wallet is going to get hit. Let's face it, most dental insurance isn't that great. The other staff are nice and competent. Dr. Zats is a VERY nice guy, personable, professional, and will be very honest with you about your options and his recommendations. And both times I found his work to be very quick and efficient and done right. And, best of all, Dr. Zats will call you the next day to check on how you are. Not the receptionist, not an assistant, the doctor will call you. And he'll give you his cell phone number if he feels you need it (the first time I went there, he was going away for the weekend and wanted me to be able to contact him if needed). My dentist recommended Dr. Zats, at first I thought it was just because they are friends, but now I realize it is because he is an excellent oral surgeon with very reasonable rates compared to others where I live on the North Shore of Long Island. I traveled a bit to see him since his rates were lower, but I'm glad I did because his service and demeanor are outstanding. read more

Waited there for 3 hours before surgery. Original appointment was at 5 pm, they called me and reschedule that for 4 pm. Finally they start the procedure around 7 pm. When I asked why I have to wait so long the answer was - " Its not a movie theatre, girl". Stupid jokes like "Don't you want to be wise , girl?" I am 35 years old woman. They didn't read x-ray proper and left me alone for another 30 minutes with anesthesia. Thanks God I refused general anesthesia as they leave the patient completely alone. Finally I left this office at 9 pm. I was very hungry as I didn't all day and had to go by train after surgery at 9 pm. I should have leave around 5 pm according the schedule. read more

Doctor explained in details all my options and extracted tooth with local anesthesia without any pain (I had an option of being sedated during procedure, but I refused it myself). AWFUL EXPERIENCE: I had an oral surgery performed by another surgeon but had an unbearable pain and since my surgeon is in the office on Tues and Wed only I decided to check if another surgeon can help me. One of the doctors (last name starts with an F - Fatimani or something like that) did NOT act as a doctor who took The Hippocratic Oath. He does NOT give a damn about it. He actually wanted me to agree to the fact that by helping me he MAY PERMANENTLY DAMAGE MY TOUNGE or something like that. I actually asked him if he were a real doctor as I was speechless. I basically got up crying from pain and left and he just shrugged his shoulders. BE AWARE. Such doctors need to practice theoretical medicine at home by reading books!!! Dr Zats is an excellent Oral Surgeon. He has an excellent manor about him. He took my "urgent" call in the early morning, though I had never seen him before. He saw me the same day and operated on 2 teeth and an abscess, and relieved incredible discomfort. What was more is I didnt feel any pain. That's right, I didnt even know he started. He even called my home that night to check on me. My wife and I were floored. His office is well run and available for emergencies. Omg!!!! Stay away unless u r just going 4 an extraction. I need implants and went for a consultation. After paying 250 dollars they took a panoramic and stuck me in a room for 2 HOURS AND 40 MINUTES! When I finally complained 2 the nurse she had the audacity to tell me "this is not the movies we do not start on time". 2 minutes later Dr zats walks in and gives me a whole 90 seconds of his precious time then runs 2 the next patient. The nerve!! What a rip off. Where is the bedside manner and medical oath he took? An absolute disgrace 4 an office. Three years ago Dr. Zats placed an implant in my mouth incorrectly. $5K later two crowns were broken. Finally I paid him a visit today in the Forest Hills location and he blamed all this on me. Wow I have never went to this dental office and I would recommend not to go. They're very rude at the front desk and they speak to you like your garbage. I called in to make an appointment, they answered and than put me on hold for 10 minutes when they finally answered I asked the lady a question and automatically she shut the phone. I really hope one day someone from the department of health or whoever rates them calls in and try's to make an appointment I bet they will get an F and violations for speaking to a patient who told the front desk I need a oral surgeon who can take of me as soon as possible once I tried to explain myself why she shut in my face for the second time.
