Having known Dr. Schwartz professionally for a decade this was my first experience with him as a patient. My general dentist could not complete a necessary root canal procedure to to the abyss that had developed at the root tip and into my bone. He advised I see an oral surgeon to do a procedure known as an I & D (incision and drain) to release pressure that was causing massive swelling on the entire left side of my face. Dr. Schwartz and his amazing staff had me come to their office as an emergency. I was so grateful for him to see me so quickly. The entire procedure was explained in detail and before I know it I was being injected. His technique was truly and experience of relaxation almost to a point of hypnosis. With all the infection present I was amazed how quickly the area became numb. The procedure was done in a few minutes which required exposure of the bone and cleaning of the area of infected bone. It's only been 36 hours from the procedure and the swelling has gone down dramatically. I am in less pain than before the procedure which I am managing with Advil. I'll see him again in a few days for my follow up. Then on to completing that root canal with my general dentist. Receiving a call the next day to see how I was doing was very much appreciatedI've already recommended him to family and friends and will continue to do so. My daughter has gone to him several times already and has sung his praises to me countless times. The entire experience was not only very professional but also personable and truly caring by Dr. Schwarz and his entire staff. After care instructions were clear and concise. A terrific post surgery package complete with ice pack, gauze, even lip balm...everything you'd need to recover. To put it mildly, I am not a good dental patient, and my teeth reflect it. I have plenty of experience with the drill and the forceps, and how they can cause some real damage (punctured sinuses, jaw bone fragments, loss of taste, emergency root canals, ect). My initial visit with Dr. Schwartz put me at as much ease as I've been in at the dentist--he explained everything and didn't make me feel like I was asking too many questions. And his techniques are some I didn't think I'd see while I still had teeth to save...dental implants placed during the extraction procedure? Bone grafts made from my own plasma, instead of Dead Guy Gravel? What is this, 2097? Yesterday afternoon, he preformed the extraction of two top teeth, one in the front and one molar. It was easily the least-worst "pulling" experience I've had. I was sedated through the process, and spent about 8 hours in moderate, but manageable pain afterwards. Today, I've taken no pain relievers at all--a first. I can open my mouth with limited discomfort--also a first. If dentists ever get to the point when they are stimulating new tooth growth in the mouth (like they've been promising for years), I'd bet that Dr. Schwartz will be one of the first offering it to regular Joes and Josephines--and that he'll also find a way to make adult-onset teething a little less painful. read more

I am one of those who is terrified of the dentist. I had to come to Dr. Steven R Schwartz for a tooth extraction on April and I was terrified, When I walked in the office is small and cozy and the receptionist was very kind and friendly. the extraction went great, no pain during or after and I knew that I am going to do an implant, came back at the end of June for the checkup and I been told that I won the jackpot and I will get a sinus lift , bone graft and an implant at the same time, couldn't be happier and for that whole week couldn't sleep from the day of the appointment , on the day of the appointment I didn't wait too long before I was called in and that's when my anxiety spiked. The nurse was kind and quick and reassured me that I will be fine. Dr. Schwartz walked in and was funny... quick... and extremely knowledgeable. he thoroughly explained what is going to happen and did his best to accommodate my anxiety. He explained things so perfectly that it made sense to me to be more serious and less afraid of visiting the dentist. Dr. Schwartz's technique for extractions are beyond belief. I never felt even one twinge of pain--not during the injections, not during the extraction. Although Dr. Schwartz had prescribed pain medication (just in case), I did not have to take any. His touch is light and his work is magical. I had no idea when he actually extracted the tooth. Today, one day after the procedure, I feel wonderful and it is back to business as usual for me. Not only would I recommend Dr. Schwartz to friends and family, I already have! Dr. Schwartz was great at extracting my seriously impacted wisdom tooth. He was able to extract the tooth without damaging the nerve that was wrapped around the root of the tooth. Furthermore, I experienced very little pain the day of and the days following the surgery. Of the many years I have been going to the dentist, Dr Schwartz was the only dentist/dental surgeon to bring to my attention abnormalities on the x-ray of my mouth. He told me what he suspected the cause to be (a benign bone condition) and confirmed his diagnosis after a biopsy of tissue from my gum. Dr. Schwartz has removed 3 of my wisdom teeth over the course of many years. He doesn't take my insurance any longer (Healthplex) but I'm going to miss him dearly for my extractions. I need the last wisdom tooth removed now and it is extremely hard to find a GREAT dentist/oral surgeon these days :-( When you see 5 star reviews, you better believe that he earned every one of them by providing excellent and professional service. Dr. Scwhartz is knowledgable and has a nice, bedside manner. He told me he thought I had benign fibrous tissue on the tip of my tongue. He took out right then and there. Sent it away for a biopsy and it came back, exactly as he said. Sent me home with written instructions and even received a follow up a call, after the weekend, to see how I was doing. Excellent experience with the removal of my two left wisdom teeth. His staff is very patient and answered all of my questions and concerns. Dr. Schwartz was also very honest about not needing to remove the two wisdom teeth on my right, so long as I take good care of them. I had an infected upper tooth that was going to involve my sinus. Dr. Schwartz skillfully removed the tooth and cleared the infected area. Perhaps a lesser skilled surgeon could have left some of the infected tissue to fester. I also have a tooth implant that Dr. Schwartz made for me a number of years ago and it is still good as new. read more
