I hit my fifties and now I'm not only nearsighted but farsighted as well. My cataract developed quickly. I just woke up one day and couldn't see well out of one eye. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out what was going on since I just assumed my vision had worsened. My mother recommended Dr Simon because she said that she noticed that her friends that went to him didn't wear glasses afterwards. I opted for the PanOptix trifocal lens which provides clear vision at near, intermediate, and far distances. I only know one other friend that has had to have this surgery since we are on the younger side of the people requiring it. She went to a different provider and wasn't even offered this type of lens. She still requires glasses and finds it more annoying than before. My surgery has been life changing. It took me several weeks to stop waking up and immediately look for my glasses since it was such a habit. If my eyes are really tired and I need to see something teeny tiny, I sometimes require glasses. I do have some trouble with contrast as I read could happen. For me, this means if I'm looking at a small white or pale yellow tablet which is embossed rather than having its pill identification printed on it, I have to break out the glasses or magnifying glass. Dr Simon insists that he didn't make my under eyes older but that is not true! I never saw them look older with my glasses, lol. As far as the actual experience of the surgery, I knew exactly how much it was going to cost and when payments would be required. I knew that my vision would be tested immediately after the procedure and they got me in right away. I didn't feel any pain during the surgery or afterwards. It is anxiety inducing to be awake and know what they are doing to you. Perhaps I could have benefited from a little more Versed but that is something to bring up to the anesthesiologist, not Dr Simon, and I didn't bring it up. I thought something might be wrong a few weeks after surgery. I didn't get off work until 7pm on a Saturday so I called the emergency number I was given. Dr Simon ended up meeting me that night at his office to look at the eyes. Thankfully, it was nothing serious but I appreciated his dedication to my care.
