    5/22/22 Let's eat
    John F.

5/22/22 Dona Cecy's Pupuseria is a restaurant that caught my wife's attention after visiting the flea market. This store is heavily populated by the Hispanic community. How many dialects of the Spanish language were there I cannot say, but what I can tell you is this, the place was booming with customers. My guess is a lot of families who had finished church and stopped by for a bite to eat. I seemed to be the only gringo in the mix of the Latino population. This did not bother me one bite, dispite some of the looks I got from some people. Then again, maybe they were looking at my wife who was with me and wondering what the hell? Whether this truly the case it matters not. We were here for some food. Dona Cecy's Pupuseria is what we came for and The Pupusas with Cheese was calling my name. My wife ordered The Pupusas with Cheese and Loroco. If you don't know what a Loroco is, it is an edible flower popular in El Salvador, Guatemala and other places. We also ordered drinks orginally large, but learned the store did not have large lids for the drinks. (I hope this isn't a normal thing) We then changed the order to medium drinks and my wife ordered a medium Horchata ("Horchata, or orxata, is a name given to various kinds of plant-based beverages. In Spain it is made with soaked, ground, and sweetened tiger nuts. In Latin America, and other parts of the Americas, the base is jicaro, melon or sesame seeds, or white rice, along with other spices. Wikipedia) and I ordered a mango drink. Both drink came with ice and this is good, because the drinks are very sweet...or so it seems. (Something to keep in mind) We watched as hot delicious food was being made by the nearly a whole female staff. I only saw one guy and he was the youngest out of the bunch of women working there. The male took our orders and my wife jumped in and placed our orders in rapid Spanish. Next time I will have to be quicker with my Spanish. Especially in an all Spanish environment. This store looks to have been around for a long time. The name of this store I now realize are in a several places I have visited, but did not place the name and face. *One of the things that could be a very dangerous and is a accident waiting to happening is how slippery the flooring is on one's way to the bathrooms. There is a wet floor sign in the men's bath when I was there. The floor was slippery there too. The urinal near the toilet looked to be ready to fall down. There is a puddle of piss on the floor to, so I wasn't about to stand in that. (Urinal mat(s) please) once again. If your penis is to small, MOVE CLOSER TO THE URINAL. (Si su pene es demasiado pequeño, ACÉRQUESE AL URINARIO) The women's bathroom look to be as slippery as the men's bathroom from what I saw when the door opened. I would say a bathroom upgrade is in order.* Since we only ordered takeout, I can't say how the dine in experience was. This will be for another time. The food was delicious. Oh!, I forgot to mention my wife ordered some pineapple cookies which were soft batch. I believe she found them delicious, because I can't find them anywhere.

Server Vanessa was great with smiles and great personality- I try to order beef stew with extra meat they wanted me to pay additional full order of beef stew so - I decided and replaced for 5 pupusas - 3 frijoles con queso 1 shrimp and 1 pepperoni- wasn't enough shrimps in the pupusa same thing with the pepperoni was not enough very disappointed, it's a shame

Terrible customer service and food was bad, pupusas were very dry. The lady left to go use the bathroom and talk to other coworkers leaving us unattended.

Walk in at 9:15 pm to dine in an i was told place is close.

9:15 was told you cant eat here cause servers dont want to serve is amazing how a restaurant that depends on people tells people they cant eat here, not coming back to this place service is horrible because there is no service

I can only speak for the food since we've never dined inside, which alot of people mention is the only thing good about this place. Definitely one of the best pupussas I've had. And very cheap! They're pupussas are made fresh, so it takes a while. We've ordered from them many times over the years and their food has yet to disappoint. But just order ahead for to-go.

Compared to the one in Arlington, this place is much better and seemed a lot cleaner. Just ordered a few pasteles to take home and they were alright. They didn't have empanadas or saltenas at the time and I didn't have time to wait for them to make some. Not sure how long it's been around but I think it's been there for a while. I'm surprised this is an FTR.

What I didn't like was there's a lot of up-charging, especially when other fast-casual salad bars include these things at no extra charge: I wanted to sub feta cheese crumbles for the blue cheese crumbles and I got charged more than a dollar extra. I got a side of focaccia bread - 2 small pieces- about the size of my fingers, and I have small hands. It's a good size salad and you get one small side of salad dressing. I asked for extra, for which there is an up charge for each teeny container. I didn't try their stirfry bowls and me come back to try one, but I'll go somewhere else for my big bowl salads.

The first time this happened, I called the store and was told the manager was going to get in contact with me. This was roughly 6 months ago, or less, and they never did. Now tonight, I ordered the same salad I always get with the crispy shallots and AGAIN I get tortilla strips? Why is your staff not educated on what the toppings are for this to happen twice in roughly a six month span. Now, since I am an ingredient household, I am lucky enough to have crispy onions to replace the strips but at what cost? It's not the same. Anyway, food is too expensive for it to be made wrong.

Why sell dressing if you don't have it? Lmao And instead of calling you to let you know or ask you if you would like an alternative, they expect you to act like you are not inconvenienced and just take what they give you when you come in. This is my favorite salad place (not this location, but Chopt in general). There aren't that many in the area, so I drove out of my way to get here today. When I arrived, after my pick up time, I was immediately frustrated when my order wasn't available and I was told someone would be with me in a moment. I was crunched for time; hence, why I placed my order for pickup before I even knew I would arrive. A few minutes later, an employee came down and asked me if I needed help. When I told her I was there for an order I placed through the app, she told me that they were out of the dressing I requested. She said "it would take a really long time for us to get that for you." The way she phrased it made it seem like they were out of dressing for the actual salad, itself, too. She asked if I wanted any other salad dressings. I said no. I am very particular about my dressings. She told me she could refund me and that I didn't need to be there. I left shortly after. My biggest issue is that when you have an account and place a mobile order, they do have your phone number. They could've called me or even texted me to let me know that the items were out of stock. They also still could have and should have put my salad on the shelf for pick-up. They were obviously behind because my salad wasn't even finished and they hadn't even put my bread in a bag. To make matters worse, once I actually did start to eat my salad in the car, I noticed the following: -missing ingredients (THAT I PAID FOR) -multiple avocado pits (after paying an upcharge) -shrimp shells ... ewww -and onion skin Like, why am I paying $20 for this salad?

I've tried a variety of them over time, and while they're all decent, I haven't noticed a huge difference in flavor between many of the sauces. One thing I do really enjoy is the Honeybar dessert option. It's a nice addition to the meal, and the cheesecake filling is usually a solid choice. Sad to see the vanilla mousse is no longer available because that used to be one of my favorites. Overall, good food and a reliable spot if you want something quick and filling. Expect to spend around $25+ if you're getting noodles, a drink, and dessert.

I asked whether the Caesar dressing contained anchovies due to a pregnancy restriction, and although our server wasn't completely sure, he handled it with care and thoughtfulness. He brought the dressing on the side and offered to swap it entirely out of an abundance of caution, which meant a lot and showed how much they value their guests' comfort. And the food.
