The food is excellent! I really loved the fig salad and the grilled shrimp. The grilled shrimp might be one of the best things I have ever had in my life! And I wish I could buy a jar of the figs that they use for their salad. The staff was really nice and service was prompt too. I celebrated my birthday here this year and it did not disappoint! Everything was excellent, especially the service. Our server was attentive without being overbearing -- we never felt rushed and also never lacked for anything. Dishes came out as they were ready, which was fun, but at one point we had 7 plates on the table and it was a bit much. Next time I'd order 3-4 to start and add more. Food highlights: the stuffed peppers, Muhammara, Brussels sprouts, and roasted cauliflower were outstanding. The house salad was fresh and balanced nicely with the rest. The short rib baklava was rich, creative, and exactly as you'd imagine. Branzino carpaccio was good but a bit thicker than expected, so I'd try something else next time. Cocktails were excellent -- this is definitely the place to explore the menu instead of sticking to basics. We also enjoyed a great bottle of wine with dinner. This was a bipolar experience. The manic high was that this really is a terrific restaurant, with delicious food, good service and a nice vibe. The depressing low begins and ends at the curb, with what has to be the single, sorry, no other word for it, shittiest valet service I've ever encountered. The pity is that everyone, from our server to the host to the valets themselves, know it. The restaurant should fire this service immediately. When you pull up, they tell you ahead of time that they're texting system takes 20 minutes, but if you want to bypass it, you can pay double the rate and hand them $40 to get your car faster. They then suggest that you pay in advance, including a tip. The only proper response to that is laughter . When you do click on the text five minutes before you ask for the check, and follow the instructions. It puts you in an endless loop as if you have no signal, except that you're on the Internet and you do have a signal. They just have the worst Automated Valet system and they know it. The waiter comes and tries to help and acknowledges that this happens all the time.ALL THE TIME. What's ridiculous is that it never responded to one of the people in our party who ended up standing there at the curb fooling with it, pulling credit cards out, while the other was exhorted by the valets to keep repeating the process. This is at best an embarrassment, and at worst a scam.. I mentioned it as nicely and positively as possible to the host, complementing the Restaurant and suggesting that they terminate the Valet contract. He reacted as if at least 70% of the people who exit the restaurant do the same thing. As for the restaurant, the food was terrific. The greens and fig salad was delightful and different and had roasted hazelnuts and feta cheese and watermelon and figs and fresh greens. The seafood salad was equally bright and filled with shrimp. My friends ordered skirt steak and the" fishermen ", both of which were very good. I had lamb chops which were cooked well but butchered poorly, with way too much fat, gristle and bone fragments to enjoy or recommend. The pistachio baklava was delicious. The chocolate cake was so so and the mastic pudding a mild but acquired taste. I realize I spent more time on the Valet situation than the food, but I end on that as well for two reasons. First, the police should know because the other consequence is that it backs up the street to at least the intersection to the west causing a traffic hazard. And the restaurant, because they know about this, needs to either terminate these people or suffer the consequences in a review. If in fact, the Valet is a mob contract and they're gonna get their kneecaps broken, and not just a simple scam I might be persuaded to feel bad about dwelling on this. But the only comment I want Back from restaurant management is to please be sure and notify me with a response when you've changed Valet providers. Until then, as much as I enjoyed this restaurant, there are still hundreds to try in Miami before putting myself or my friends through this experience.. read more

The hostess was rude and not concerned about the long wait time past the reservation time. She said "You have to wait and I can't give you a time for how long the wait will be". TBH I was disappointed. I have wanted to come here for a while. Yesterday I visited. I had booked in advance for the Miami Spice. Once there I was abruptly told by the wait staff that I could not do it, as it is only available for two people. HUH?? Why? Not impressed. I said well, I am here for this reason. He then said I will ask my manager. I felt uncomfortable, is there something wrong with people who dine alone? It put a real downer on my meal. I also was quite neglected by him during my stay. He never enquired about the food. Also to be noted I normally do Miami Spice so I can try new places and dishes. After studying the usual menu I see that the Miami Spice was not special or offering new dishes at all. Disappointing. My server then asked what drink I would like? I said before this I need to know if I am able to have the Miami Spice. A few minutes later he came back and said it is ok. I then ordered regular tap water. So, after "being allowed" to order from the Miami spice menu, I tried the following - APPETIZER - Muhammara - Roasted Red Peppers, Pomegranate, Walnuts, Garlic, Breadcrumbs. This dish looked pleasant. Again, I was disappointed. The consistency of it was so glutinous. It was so sticky, it put me off. This came with some side bread, and some very nice olives. What was weird (again) the waiter asked if I would like some side bread when I placed my order for this appetizer. I asked if it was included? He said no there is a small charge of 5 dollars. I said for my main I will be having the Pide which is like a bread, so I declined. But, I received bread anyway? Huh? (To be noted I was not charged for this bread?!) MAIN - Pide with Truffle and Kasseri Cheese. This was like a glorified pizza. I enjoyed it and the truffle was apparent. DESSERT - Baklava. This was pleasant and served warm. Ie there was a ladies restroom and gents restrooms. However, the mirrors, and sinks etc to freshen up are communal. A pleasant female manager came to my table and asked how everything was. (I did not want to make a fuss of all the above, you have to be in the mood, and I am also English so quite reserved in these situations). WHAT I DID NOT LIKE - Lack of attentive service. Bad taste left in my mouth re the Miami spice only for two people comment. The bread issue? just weird! The gummy Appetizer (to be noted I usually love this dish). Miami Spice menu the same as what you can receive from their normal menu. Plus, I overheard my server say, to another colleague I presume (I cannot clarify as this was behind me), " Miami Spice is not working, it is just Cheap people!" The water recommended the short rib baklava which was probably my favorite dish of the night! We also got the branzino, roasted eggplant, lavash, lahmacun, charred baby wings, baked feta, and wild greens, which were all pretty tasty! I would give 4 stars but I'm docking one because the waiter dropped water all over my phone when switching out our bottle of water. It's put in a bucket of ice and my phone was sitting on the table. I didn't notice at first so it had already soaked into my phone case and got my phone and cards super wet by the time I realized. Luckily it wasn't damaged! I will also say the tables inside are uncomfortably close in the section we sat in and you can't get to your table from the side - you have to walk through a row of tables if you aren't at one of the tables on the edge and people's seats were bumping into each other back to back sometimes. I like that the set up is different than a regular restaurant, it didn't feel like your typical restaurant. They have a nice bar & an area where you can see them cook and eat. The service was also wonderful. The front desk, wait staff and managers were all attentive and friendly. The dishes came out quickly to the table. I loved the concept of the menu and they have many delicious looking options! My expectations may have been a been high between the reviews/menu/Michelin bib but the food was good but not great to me. We had the short rib baklava which was a fun concept. Meat was very tender and pastry was flaky- but not too flavorful if not for the garlicky labneh. The pastrami hummus was a nice hummus- fluffy/light/well balanced. But the paprika butter did not taste like paprika and the pastrami was fine but didn't really add to the dish for me. The Piyaz featured white beans which were unfortunately rather hard. The flavor was a bit muted- I love the sour that sumac brings but it was not coming through in the dish. We ordered an eggplant app, the octopus, the Moussaka, and the ADANA KEBAP (chopped spiced grounded lamb, homemade lavash bread). Not sure why the server recommended we order the lavash (since our order came with lavash). It was not authentic lavash as I've had before and was paper thin and undercooked so that was a miss for me and not worth the cost. The eggplant app was ok, the octopus was a bit chewy and dry unfortunately, and the kebap was not for me personally, taste-wise. I wanted to order the DOYA KEBAP, but they didn't have it. The moussaka was great, could have eaten that twice! Portion could be a bit larger. The baklava was good. My cocktail was tasty. I feel like I ordered wrong on this visit and willing to leave the four stars (for effort and service) until I can try them again. I think the restaurant identity seems a bit confused, as too are the dishes. Are they Greek, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean or all three? Seems they would benefit from choosing one and doing it well. What an impressive offering and I can't wait to stop by again when I'm Miami to try more things. The one thing I thought about post experience is how I would've liked the bartender to present the menu to me. The menu is divided between cold and hot meze. Being that I usually am a solo diner, I limited myself to one dish, expecting to feel satisfied quickly. I ordered the artichoke rice which was more subdued in flavor than I'd expect. That's perfectly fine though. But as I worked my way through the dish I thought about two things, "I've had enough of this already, this is kind of flat lining for me" and also, "I wish I had something more intensely flavorful to go along with this dish and/or a tasty hot temperature menu item to complement the artichoke rice". So, if I worked at Doya, what I'd tell guests is: "our menu was designed with the idea of sharing in mind, so although portions can be generous, do consider ordering at least two dishes, keeping in mind how you think those dishes might pair with each other, for a well-rounded experience." That way, whether I picked two cold meze items or a cold and hot meze together, I'd be able to have a fuller experience for what Doya has to say as a restaurant. Also, that would nicely increase check averages. I can't help but think this way because I used to work at similar concepts. The ambiance at this place is remarkable, the lighting and design are extremely welcoming. The music completes the picture. You don't even feel like the unpleasant hustle and bustle of Wynwood awaits outside. Their espresso tonic blew my mind; literally my favorite craft cocktail ever. Reviewing as a vegetarian, this place has a lot of really great options but I do think some options are overpriced. We had the house salad, tzatziki, fried halloumi and an kalamata olive-based dip. We also paid $4 for a special bread that was kind of like a giant tortilla so not sure that was worth it. For dessert we did the baklava. The house salad was very basic to me but delicious. It only had a few olives in it which was disappointing. The fried halloumi was tasty but very small portion for the price. The dips were great and were larger portions but you also need things to dip it in and most do not come with anything except a few pieces of bread. The baklava was sooo good! Overall I thought this place was great and I would likely go back, but keeping in mind it's a bit pricey for a restaurant where the concept is ordering 4 plates for two people as most are the prices of one plate. I started with a tequila based cocktail called Bursa and it arrived quickly as a mirror image to the photo in the literal descriptive book detailing the cocktail offerings. I chose one cold plate, stuffed sweet peppers- feta basil pistachio walnut and one hot dish, short rib baklava-strained labneh, gaziantep pistachio kasseri cheese. Along with fresh pita this was one of the tastier meals I've ever eaten. The combination was appropriate for an individual meal and I eagerly anticipated the dessert menu. The chocolate cake I selected was a combination of Turkish tea cookie, milk chocolate custard, sumac and strawberry compote, Gaziantep pistachios and was a perfect way to top off an excellent experience. This place is a gem. Each dish was better than the last but this baklava deserves a special mention because it was out of this world. The servings are tapa style and the food comes out as it's ready, which I personally love because you don't know what's coming next. The service, too, was amazing. I will say as far as atmosphere, this place is noisier than your average Miami hot spot.
