    So great!!

I maybe came here as a kid for some things but it had been years until I decided to buy tickets to see The Little Mermaid and wow! I was blown away! It was an amazing show with amazing talent! No complaints about the theater itself, great little spot. And they serve local beer and wine along with other little snacks. We had such a good time we came back for Rocky Horror Show and holy crap! If you haven't seen this show live, go! It's ridiculously entertaining, hilarious and so great! Five stars for the show and audience here! Make sure to dress up and join the fun! I highly recommend this place and would definitely see another show here given the opportunity! Check Groupon for ticket sales. Not really a bad seat in the place.

The Downtown Theatre was 100% NOT on my radar until Goldstar offered up a great deal for tickets to Nunsense - a fun and affordable Friday night entertainment option for the BF and I. It turned out to be a great little theater! The theater is located on Texas Street in the downtown area, which unfortunately even on a Friday night was a bit like a ghost down. Despite a couple cool shops (that weren't open) and a few dining options, we rarely passed another person (aside from a few ragamuffin types I don't really think were in town for a night at the theatah). But the theater itself is quite lovely - simple on the outside but very modern and elegant within. There is a private free parking lot right behind the building, so ZERO trouble on that front which is always nice. In the lobby is a small art display for perusal, plus a long hallway of the colorful posters of shows they've put on in the past. They perform a great variety of classics AND more contemporary shows - everything from The Music Man to The Rocky Horror Show! Refreshments were for sale before the show, including a few libations all for VERY reasonable prices. A bottle of water was $1.00, a glass of wine was marked as $5.00 suggested donation. The lobby staff was VERY friendly - I assume it's a group of volunteers, as it was a wide variety of ages. The Nunsense show was great fun! Sometimes small local theaters don't necessarily have the best talent, but this pack of 5 ladies playing the sisters were spectacular! Killer singing voices, spot-on comedic timing - everything you need from a Broadway star. My face ached by the end of the show from smiles and laughter, we had a lot of fun. My favorite joke heard during the Nunsense show - why didn't Noah go fishing? Because he only had 2 worms! Give this little local theater a chance, especially if you can score tickets on Goldstar - well worth the money, and a great venue for showcasing local talent with shows you might know all the words to or are being treated to for the first time.

I thoroughly enjoy performing in this theatre. The sound is amazing and the accommodations are suitable for performers. As a patron, my favorite seats are up in the balcony, center seats. The sound just envelopes you in a big musical hug. I recommend attending the yearly gala. The most recent gala just passed and I already look forward to next year's. During this event, different restaurants and bakeries set out samples from their menus. There was also wine and beer sampling. We then treated the patrons to samples of own by offering glimpses into our upcoming performances. Just a tip- you can purchase your tickets ahead of time and reserve your preferred seating by going to their website. Have fun!

The setup is as follows: pass through security (tip for ladies - open your purse to make it quick for everyone), show ID if you're drinking and pay your $2 p/p. (Score! It was free for the fourth of July) Scope out a spot, bring a chair or a blanket, the venue is raked so that the people in the nosebleed section can still see. Food is on one side of the park and alcohol on the other, long lines at the alcohol discouraged me from purchasing a glass of wine. Two lines to be exact, one to buy tokens to then buy alcohol. I'm not that determined to get my drink on. Food options are standard fare (fries, lumpia, tacos, bbq, hot dogs), not a foodie's paradise. Also, the lines for the bathrooms are ridiculous. All in all, a good time, very diverse crowd, and save the two minor dings, we'll be back!

It was lovely. I was greeted within a few moments, and seated at a table if my choosing due to the timing of when I was there. Other than the TV on at the bar, which I could hear in the dining area, it was pretty quiet with a chill vibe. I chose the eggplant and tofu. They even had brown rice available as a side--a rarity at Chinese restaurants in the area based on my experience. The staff was very pleasant, too.

Sticky Rice Chinese Bistro & Bar, Fairfield: 2026 Apr 28 (1.375 of 5)…read more WE GOT SCOLDED by the manager! I was at the counter paying the bill when the manager approached my dinner guests. She intimidated them by asking loudly why they were wasting food by not eating. My guests said they didn't enjoy the food, to which she replied that they're wasting food. How could anyone enjoy food that's inedible? She certainly did not give cause for us or our friends to step inside that eatery again. (1 of 5) Grace, server: Poor Grace looked pressured. She tried her best to accommodate us but I think she was 'shut-down' by her boss. I decided the restaurant did not deserve a tip but our server did so I pushed the tip inside her pocket. Grace mentioned that the chef is new and she would try and see if they can do something with our check. They did not and even raise the cost on one of the dishes we ordered. The price on the menu is lower that what they charged. This was an eatery we frequented for years and we usually enjoy the food here. Since we moved, we haven't visited it but our family still lives in that neighborhood so we decided to meet there for dinner. They don't take reservations but the eatery was half empty for a dinner-time seating. We sat down and was presented with their menu, which haven't changed much so it was easy to order our meal. We ordered Crab Wonton, Potstickers, Singapore-style Rice Noodles, Orange Chicken, Bulgogi. None of the dishes came with rice, so we ordered a bowl of rice. One of our guests wanted wine. Our server said the wine menu is not available, so we decided to get the house-wine. Our server returned to say the bartender is not on duty and we couldn't get even the house wine. I asked for hot water which never arrived. (1 of 5) Crab Wonton: This fried appetizer should have a crispy exterior filled with a creamy, savory mixture of cream cheese and crab meat (whether real or imitation). They are deep-fried until golden and served with sweet-and-sour sauce. The subtle seafood flavor is not quite there and the filling did not fill the parcel. The sauce here could be found on any grocery shelf but that's okay. I opened up the rest of the wonton for two reasons: (1) I wanted to see if some of them were filled, and (2) to make sure they don't serve these to unsuspecting diners. (1 of 5) Potstickers: These crescent-shaped dumplings should feature a savory filling with cabbage and ginger. They are pan-fried to produce a golden, crispy bottom and then steamed, creating a tender top, resulting in a dual-texture, savory, and aromatic bite. Although the dumplings looked good on the outside, it tasted gooey - not juicy. (1 of 5) Singapore-style Rice Noodles: I was very disappointed with my order. It tasted like the chef just poured curry powder over the top instead of cooking it in. It tasted gritty and the noodles lacked any savory nor aromatic notes. It should have a slightly spicy curry flavor but I did not taste any of that. There was no smoky or comforting yumminess to this dish. I feel that even a few drops of soy sauce would have elevated this dish - giving it an umami taste. I'm giving it a 2 because they used the right noodles. (2 of 5) Orange Chicken: This bite-sized pieces of battered, fried chicken tossed in a sweet, tangy, and savory orange-flavored sauce should boast a crispy, sticky texture with a bright citrus aroma from orange juice and zest. Instead, it had none of the garlicky, gingery, or slightly heated profile. There was no depth nor flavor at all. The dish wasn't well-balanced. (1 of 5) Bulgogi: This was the best dish we tasted this evening. The meat was tender and cut correctly. It had a mild and savory marinade but was under-seasoned. It missed the garlicky and nutty caramelized, smoky flavor. It came ala carte, like the orange chicken we ordered. They didn't even offer lettuce leaves, which usually accompany bulgogi. (2 of 5) Rice: Like the name says, the rice was on the sticky side - but cooked through. (3 of 5)
