This review is based on my visit back in October…read more As far as I know, this place is pretty unique where you can actually buy marijuana related things, order food, smoke pot AND eat in the dining room, or just smoke in the basement lounge.  You can even rent stuff to smoke. Just to be clear, i don't smoke pot and don't intend to anytime soon. A friend of mine recommend me this place for their great tasting food so i decided to try it out just for the food. Vibe: Inside, they got some catchy reggae music playing in the background. You can definitely smell weed as soon as you come in. They got really cool marijuana inspired artwork and sculptures hanging on the walls and pretty much everywhere. The decor is really creative and it's almost like a mini museum. Half of the place has a long glass display shelf of hundreds of marijuana related stuff, and the other half is a dining area.  My friend and I came in the morning so there was only one other customer in the whole store at the time. It was pretty quiet. The dining tables were very clean and modern. Service: The staff were super friendly and explained how their business works since I was a first timer as a customer. Apparently the dining area is exclusive for eating until 5pm, if i recall correctly. After that, you're allowed to smoke in the dinng area. Staff were all-around great who really care about the business and it shows in their demeanor. Food: I ordered "The Cheech" grilled cheese sandwich with potato chips (Cheech and Chong reference, i love it!) It had Bacon, Jalapeno, and cheese. My friend ordered the BLT sandwich.  The cheech was actually really good. It tasted like what a GOOD grilled sandwich should be. Bacon and jalapeno gave it a good kick and saltiness. The chips it came with is just a very small bowl of regular salty ruffles chips. A little bit of ketchup is included. A small issue I think is that it's a little overpriced at $10. I can get a much bigger sandwich elsewhere with way more toppings and maybe even a drink. I think they should make it $8 at most or include a choice of drink at least. And giving a little bigger portion of chips would be nice. The chips were maybe only 10 pieces so it's a really small portion. My friend thought his BLT grilled cheese sandwich was better than expected. He liked it. Small note, there was a VERY interesting odor in the place. I'm not used to smelling  interesting, funky flowery smells and eating food in a restaurant, haha.  Overall just based on the taste of food it's great although the value and portion you get is a little less than expected. I can't comment based on personal experience on what a pot smoker would think but based on the other reviews online this place is excellent for just smoking. New amsterdam cafe has such a cool and unique atmosphere. I think that it's so cool that pot is legal in this country! Knowing a place like this exists in Vancouver is still pretty mind-blowing to me.  4 stars for their tasty grilled cheese sandwich.

This location is prime & will definitely get a lot of foot traffic coming in. It's close to the busy intersection of Broadway & Cambie Street. It's a bit nutty down here though with the on-going subway line construction expecting to go live in 2026. Many businesses have closed shop due to the heavy subway construction. So I give full kudos to Smoke 2 Snack for having the cojones to open up here today. I was highly impressed by how well stocked up this store was on opening day. A massive variety of snacks are on the floor here - chips, chocolate, cookies, cereal, pop, etcetera. For those into smoking or vaping, you will find this store stocked up to the hilt. Vape products & all kinds of specialized pipes & bongs are available. There's a select stock of special Kicks on sale as well. Due to the subway line construction, there is no parking available nearby. You may have some luck parking a block or two away on the side streets. Think exotic & import with a twist via international flavours when you walk in here.

Paul introduced me to some cuban cigars and made me feel like I came to the right place. He's really genuine and knows what he's talking about. I am from California and now that we can bring Cubans back to the states, I think every American traveling abroad should pick some up. If you do, get them from this place !!!! Trust me. I walk in looking for a specific Cigar. The store clerk helping one male customer. So really it's just the three of us now in this tiny store. The clerk sees me and shoots me a dirty look. No problem. Maybe his dog is sick or something.... I don't know. I wait 5 min, 10 min, 15 min. No Hello. No I'll be right with you. Nothing. Not a single gesture of acknowledgement....of not only a customer but another human being that just happens to walk into your establishment. Bizarre. Going on 20 min now. I started to feel very uneasy and uncomfortable, as I was now being overtly ignored, and me being the Alpha-A type personality that I am....I wasn't just going leave and have someone ignore me like that. So.....I turned to the clerk who literally pretended I was a fly on the wall, and said...."If I could please get some service, I'm in a bit of a rush." He then with a pissed off reluctant look came my way. Even when he attended to me I felt this hostile energy from him I could not understand, and certainly was unfamiliar with, as I had never experienced anything like that. Ever. What was interesting was that the other customer felt bad for me, and apologized to me. It turned out I just had a question about a product and had to wait 20 min to ask it from a store clerk who pretended I was not there. Upon leaving the store there was only one thing that I was unsure of. Was it the fact that I was a Female or a person of colour that my business was not welcome?
