Took my truck to this place for the 1st time. About 15 minutes after pulling my truck into the bay the mechanic pulled my truck out, left it running and without walked away from me. As he was walking away he hand gestured to me to leave and yelling he couldnt do it without any explanation. The Technician is completely unprofessional. To make matters worst i was standing next to the owner and owner said nothing to him. I refused to leave without an explanation as to what happened. According to owner, Reason he refused to complete smog check is because technician is unfamiliar with California emissions approved headers. Headers are 100% legal and California emissions approved. Had he asked me, i couldve pointed out the plaque in the engine bay. After this i went to another random shop and completed my check in about 1 hour. read more

It was my first time coming to this place for a smog check. Ray the worker greeted us with a smile and told us where to park before taking us in. He took really good care of us. These inspections are quick and easy and they wouldn't have to take care of their customers but Ray made sure we were getting VIP/CEO treatment. Overall the best experience for a smog check I had. i went in today around 2:15 pm and was helped immediately by a guy named Ray. He led me to the waiting room, took my keys and got to work. I was in and out within 10-15 minutes tops and paid just about $45 in total to get a smog check. He was very imformative and easy to talk to. The location was hard to find. Parking is a little tight because of the auto repair shop next to them. I sat in the sun in a red wobbly chair that I almost fell out of. So decided to sit on the curb along the parking were it was shady. It was pricer than expected total was $67. Not sure why I was charged $8.25 for a certificate when it was electronically sent to the DMV. The mechanic doing the testing was not wearing a mask. I didn't see him sanitize his hands before touching my car. I offered hand sanitizer and was ignored. I had to disinfectant my car after the visit. I felt uncomfortable. Won't be coming back. Nadeem is the Owner/Operator. He runs the place by himself. The place has only been open for 2 years but he's been in the business for 6 years. Great guy: soft spoken, kind and a pleasant disposition. I was there at 8am, but he was a few minutes late (got in at 8:10am). But he was quick about everything and offered me a bottle of water while I waited. I was in and out within 30 minutes, as he JUST opened shop. $40 even with his special discount. For any needs you have regarding getting your car smog checked, this is the place to come to. Nadeem is awesome at what he does, and the service usually doesn't take more than a half hour, max. I've taken two cars to get smog checked and I've been in and out of there in about 20 min. Nadeem is also super friendly, too. There is a waiting area with complimentary bottled water, where you can relax a bit while your car is being worked on. Price is very reasonable. AND this place is also STAR certified, for those needing to get their cars at a STAR location. All in all, definitely check it out. read more

On March 4th I took my Honda 2007 to get a smog and certificate. I was charged 50.00 which was fine. 2 weeks later I brought my mom in to smog her 2007 Honda CRV. They charged her 57.95 with the coupon we had. Which means their price is 67.95. I told the same person who helped me a few weeks ago that he only charged me 50.00 and why was he charging my mom almost 8 dollars more. He didn't have an answer and wanted me to go home and get my receipt and prove it. If he was a good business man and wanted us as return customers; he would have just charged my mom the 50 bucks in good faith. I wont be returning to that smog place or refer anyone else there! I have discovered my new favorite smog place. They were so quick and easy it was awesome. I came in right after work. I didn't have an appointment, just drove straight there. They got me in with no problems and got my car smog ran and transmitted to the DMV electronically in under 30 minutes. The guys are very friendly, but they don't mess around. I'm really glad I went here for my smog check. The gentleman who helped me was very friendly, quick, and efficient. I like that I was offered a cold water bottle when I arrived since it was a hot day. I realized I had forgotten my wallet when I went to pay, but they were still very nice and accommodating. I was able to contact a family member to get my card info and pay but I was so appreciative of how patient they were. Very positive and stress-free experience! Smog time again... So my slightly modified car that I posted about before? The one Nadeem was very cool about and informative to me about CARB and EO stickers? Yeah, he turned me away this time. He mentioned something about new laws and how he's not touching modified cars anymore. My guess is there was some trouble with someone's and it's not worth it to him or the business. Can't deny that I'm a bit disappointed because all my aftermarket ducks are lined up and mentioned it to him, but still got denied. I go out of my way to make sure everything on my car is legal. I am extremely pleased with my experience at Downtown Smog with Nadeem! Sidenote: After getting something repaired at the mechanic next door (Tony's!), my car had to get through its drive cycle (?) before it could be ready for a smog test. Before starting the smog test, I asked Nadeem if he could tell me if my car was ready or not (if it wasn't ready, I wouldn't be attempting a smog test yet). Without hesitation, he did -- which is NOT what other smog test stations will easily do for you (my experience has been that they either give you a hard time or just flat out say no). Nadeem's understanding professionalism was truly appreciated and he has earned my business from here on out! read more
