I used this laundromat on January 14, 2021. I had a Cal King comforter that would not fit in my home washer. It's the cleanest, nicest laundromat I've been in on the Big Island. The attendant was absolutely wonderful. She saw my confusion about how to get a laundry ticket from the dispenser and helped me immediately. She led me to the appropriate washer and dryer and even put my ticket in when I stood there like an idiot not knowing what to do. Such a kind person--she really made my day! read more

Here for vacation. Our rental does not have a washer and dryer for us to use. No worries! This laundry mat is clean, staff is friendly and the staff showed us how to obtain the payment cards. There's a sitting area for kids that was playing the Disney Moana movie. The laundry carts are clean, well maintained. There is also a clean folding area. The prices seem reasonable, plenty of other locals and other tourists use this spot. Will definitely come again our next time in Hilo. read more

I actually like the laundromat but the one thing I don't like about it was this one rude attendant that keeps telling me to put on shoes. I am willing to sign a liability waiver or something. It's my lifestyle choice and I just want to wash my clothes. I don't bother anybody and I spent a lot of money on there. Why would footwear be such a big deal? I'm an adult and it's my feet. Bad Day at Laundry Express: I was verbally attacked by a mentally ill woman in the parking lot because she sat down next to me and blew her cigarette smoke right into my face while this covid19 pandemic is going on. Instead of going to the road to smoke, she sat right next to me and blew the smoke right up my nose. When I said to stop, she started yelling at me then threatened to harm me physically. I took my items and went inside. I was inside for about three minutes. My son was in the back near the bathroom and heard the whole thing. The employee there did nothing to intervene. Since this is the case, I sat down so if the customer tried to approach me again at least it would be on camera. Instead, about 3 minutes later, the employee approached me and said I had to go back outside. I said no, I felt unsafe. She said I had to go anyway. I said no. I was watching my laundry and I did not want to go outside. She started to get louder and said there was a note on the glass stating that I must be outside while laundry is spinning in the machines. So finally I went outside. I started reading the notice on the glass. It does not say you are required to be outside but are suggested to be outside. Soooo.. in fact, I could be inside. So I ask the girl her name... she won't give it. I ask for her supervisor, she won't give it. I ask for her managers name and number. She won't give it. Finally I ask for an email address. She won't give it. I finally look the information up online. I email the manger and submitted my phone number. The manger comes in gives an apology and walks away. I feel unsatisfied and still quite angry and humiliated. Finally, I leave a Facebook review and the owner calls me. You know what he tells me? I need to calm down. He does not feel that the employee should be fired for her poor customer service. Yes, while talking, I got emotional. I felt wronged, humiliated, and just plain angry for what happened to me. I've been a loyal customer for years. I was treated like crap and when I escalated this to even the owner, I feel like he really didn't care. So now, he lost my loyalty. I'll be going to Tykes or Sud's and Dud's. I will also be spreading my experience to all my family and friends so they will know the "care" the owner has for his customers. read more

So, my apartment raised the fee on our washing & drying machines and I've traveling at ton. The cost to do laundry at home is the same as at Laundry Express (3 loads @ $2/wash + $4/dry= $18). I dropped my laundry off for the "Fold & Wash" service because deadlines are real, this cost $14/10lbs of clothes. I dropped my items off at 11am and was told to pick them up at 6pm. My practice clothes were in the load so I asked of I could pick up earlier. Roxanne was pleasant and accommodating and told me to pick up at 1pm. I came back after that time and my items were washed, folded and hung. Everything is clean and tidy and I had fresh clothes for practice. Stoked and will definitely be using this service frequently. read more

LOVE IT!! Staff are always friendly and everything is kept spotlessly clean! Love the card system so don't have to deal with quarters. Washers range in size from 1 load to 8 loads (maybe more?) and dryers are always kept in perfect working order. Price is a bit higher but I gladly pay it for the peace of mind knowing all dryers/washers work the same. Located near a lot of food places too so you can pop your stuff in and go grab a bite. read more

Very clean and great environment. Everyone taking care of their own kuleana and picking up after themselves! Employees present are busy making sure things are working okay and taking care of customers and laundry that has been dropped off to be washed. TV shows on for a variety and in good taste. Cool and comfortable area to wait for your laundry. Lots of carts to move your wash to the dryers. GREAT GREAT GREAT, service! The customer service here is impeccable! I had dropped my laundry card near the kids play area, where a dishonest customer picked it up for herself. My daughter along with her two kids was watching cartoons. I realized my card fell out of my pocket and I went back to the kids area and asked the kids if they saw a red card and they said, "Yes, that lady picked it up." I asked the lady if she found it but she denied it(she was going through some rough times, she was bruised up with a black eye). So I asked the staff if they could cancel it, and the answer was, Yes! The manager, Hannah,was able to cancel it right away just as soon as she tried to use it! I watched the poor customer try and try and she even went up to Hannah, who had just cancelled the card, to tell her the card doesn't work. Great place to do laundry using a reloadable card! It's also very convenient having a machine (within the facility) to make change. They have a great rewards offer as well... The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is because it is advertised that they are "24 hours" but they actually aren't. I found that they closed early on Christmas Eve & New Years Eve, which was a bit disappointing. I would recommend wifi access for patrons. read more

I highly recommend using the services offered! We were visiting a friend fir a week. His washer broke & we needed to do laundry. We googled a laundromat & found Downtown Laundry Express. My husband was not looking forward to sitting & waiting for the laundry to be done. He noticed they offered full service laundry with drop off & pick up. I expected the cost to be way to much, but found out the cost was very reasonable! I am extremely picky about how my laundry. The ladies listened & did exactly as I asked! To say I was please with the service is an understatement! The next day we went to the lava fields. We bikes out in the beautiful sunshine & stayed until after sunset. In typical Big Island fashion, it poured rain on our bike ride back! I was wearing a light pink rain jacket & my husband was wearing Polo khaki shorts. We just knew both were ruined! Havent been to a laundromat since the 80s so was apprehensive about cleanliness, weirdness, cost, and time factor. Pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness, friendliness of the attendant, cost-effectiveness of the 3 loads, and how quickly the whole thing took (20 minutes wash, 20 minutes dry). The experience was normalized when I saw some of my college students there taking in the 30% discount midnight - 4 am. Wifi and bigger tables to do some work wouldve been a treat.
