I've only patronized Big Island Dry Cleaners once, to clean a sleeveless polyester dress, paying $12 for the experience. The service is slower than most dry cleaners I've patronized. But they did what they said they'd do, so I can't complain. In summary, I shall continue to machine- or hand-wash at home 99.9% of my clothes, 100% of the time. read more

don't ever ever ever use the service their drivers literally passed everybody on the road down saddle on the upper highway trying to make their rush to Kona and don't care doing speeds over 80 miles an hour plus in a sprinter van on March 10 at 2 PM they have no regard for anybody's safety. I was looking for a place to dry clean my blazer and a friend recommended me this place. It's located in the area where Tyke's Laundromat is and behind the food areas. Ample parking that won't ever be a problem. The process was really easy! I went in, told the guy my name and phone number, and handed him my blazer. He gave me a receipt with a barcode to bring back when my pick up was ready. He said it would be ready in a few days. But surprisingly, they got to my blazer quickly! I received a text the following day, indicating my order was ready! Quick and efficient! The price isn't too bad either. read more

I recently moved to Hilo from Oahu and 90% of my wardrobes are dry clean only. I came here because it was close to my house and the woman at the counter was nice. I brought 16 pieces of clothing and it cost me less than $100. It's cheaper then what it would have cost me if I brought it to my cleaners on Oahu. I brought my Burberry jacket and two expensive sweaters for dry cleaning. Because I only need them when traveling after two months I realized I didn't pick them up. So I looked for my receipt and I couldn't find the receipt, because this has happened to me in the past in other places I just went to pick up without the receipt because they should have it on their records. Surprisingly they said that there was nothing under my name. I had records because this wasn't the first time using their service. They said I had to find the receipt and that they are not responsible for items after 1 month. So I asked them to look for it as there were a very expensive items. And I also had them to do a repair on the jacket so perhaps if they look at the items sent for alterations they could track the jacket and find it. They were extremely rude with me and they treated me very bad. They said they didn't have time to help me. It was sad. I'm an anesthesiologist MD, so I'm not crazy and I know I brought those items there... also It made me very upset not only because they have lost/misplaced/stole my items and didn't follow the Hawaii law for lost items after a month that I wasn't showing to pick them up, I was more upset to the fact that I had to listen them saying that they didn't have time to help me every time that I was going there to see if they were able to find. I don't even think they looked for them. Many times at work I haven't sleep, eat or see my family helping sick people, so for me was heartbreaking and unbelievable that they couldn't find some time to help me, not even a word of apology or sympathy or a follow up phone call. I will never bring them anything again. So sad that in a small community like Hilo there is people like them not willing to help each other. read more

I have been taking my uniforms and suits to Personal Touch Dry Cleaning for over 10 years now. They are conveniently located on the corner of Kilauea Ave and Lanikaula St. next to Subway. They are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays until 2 pm. They do a good job of neatly pressing your clothes and making sure its ready on time. It's easy to drop off your clothes especially if your a VIP member, with the convenient drop off bag. Pick up is also a breeze because you can pre pay if you want to when dropping off your items, so picking up is quick. You receive 5% off if you pre pay when dropping off. Although I don't take my clothes there as often as I used to (because I clean more on my own at home now) I still take clothes there if needed for a special event. The prices have gone up a lot there over the years, but where haven't the prices gone up? The staff there is always friendly and helpful. I have been taking my clothes here for about 6 months, and if I ever had an issue like my pants weren't pressed they took care of it no charge. But what really blew me away the other day, I got a call from the manager. He said I had left over $200.00 in my pants pocket and he would leave it in an envelope for me when I came to pick up my clothes. Not only was I delighted that they are honest but when I picked up my clothes he wouldn't take a $60.00 tip for giving my money back. I have been using this dry cleaning service for the last year and have been very happy with the service but recently I had a 'wow' experience that I want to share. I lost a button and brought the shirt back to see if they had the button somewhere at the main cleaning facility. She took my shirt to see if they could find the button. I figured it was a lost cause. When I went to pick up the shirt a few days later I found that all of the buttons had been replaced with new ones very similar to the first set. I take my dry cleaning to A Personal Touch Dry Cleaning drop off location in Kailua-Kona. I have used them about three times in the last three months. I have always liked the way my shirts and pants have come out. I picked up my latest batch of clothes today Sunday, that's right on SUNDAY, what dry cleaners is open on Sunday? As usual everything was just right. One thing I noticed that just blew me away. Stapled to my cleaning tag was a one dollar bill. I guess I left some cash in my pocket. WOW. Those clothes went from Kona to Hilo then back to Kona, stayed in the shop for an extra week and the dollar was still attached, again I say WOW. Now I have two reasons to like this company, great service and honest people. read more
