I can't find any service that I need but when I needed a seamstress I found Syousan on Yelp and I called her to make an appointment because I needed a few of my buttons to be sawn. Chandra is the woman behind Syousan! who makes all of the sewing magic happen! I visited her business for the first time in 2010 to alter my prom dress. She was very kind and professional when my mother and I went in for my appointment. The dress came out wonderfully and it fit VERY well! None of our family friends that sew wanted to touch it because it had a bubble hem, but she was able to maintain the hem and alter it to fit me better. I was so impressed and satisfied with her work, that my mother and I returned to her again in 2011 to alter my senior prom dress. Again, she was able to maintain the flowy look of my floor-length chiffon dress and hem it exactly how I wanted it! Now in 2013, I attend college off-island. I bought a mid-sleeved shift dress a while back that I never wore because it was way too baggy-looking on me. I made an appointment to see Chandra again to hem it. After two years, she still remembered me (gotta be Hilo)! I brought it in on a Friday morning and she hemmed it over the weekend so that I could have it before I went back to college. I love the way the dress looks on me now and I love that she was able to do a good and professional job even though I asked her to rush it! To shorten both sleeves cost $8.00 and to shorten the dress' length cost $10.00. What a deal! This is one of my favorite businesses in Hilo for three reasons: professionalism, quality, and friendliness. If you want someone to alter your clothes well and in a timely manner, go and see Chandra! Mom and daughter had to measure my scrub pants twice. Two out of three scrub pants too high. She wanted to charge me to make it right. I need to get more scrub pants. Her time and efforts are valuable but how about me? Never experience this at any other seamstress alteration. More worse she told me not to come back for not paying? One time I went there before closing and the daughter wanted to refuse me service until I told her I came before closing? Take your alteration elsewhere and get it done right the first time.
