Awesome laundromat, they have brand new machines with fair prices with today's inflation. Female blonde attendant was a little rude. But the asian guy with glasses and beard I'm guessing the owner? was super cool he was pulling coins and noticed my wife and I needed help with our machine he stopped what he was doing and helped us and came back after to help us carry our clothes we are elderly so if you see this mahalo plenty we will definitely be back here again just based on hospitality and customer service from the owner. Where do I begin? It's just not what I expected. Many of the machines are broken and the carpeted floors are littered with rubbish. I put in a dollar at the change machine and got back three quarters. It was actually an uncomfortable feeling because I felt like the place just wasn't sanitary. I was a supporter of Tykeʻs for many years. Switched to Laundry Express because Tykeʻs is supposed to open at 6:00am but at 7:00am the doors are still locked and no one inside. The place is also very dirty as is the restroom. Too bad this happened because Tykeʻs is much closer to where I live than Laundry Express but Laundry Express is very clean and the worker who is there on the early morning shift is just so helpful and calls me aunty. I hope Laundry Express keeps up the good work. Plus they are open 24 hours. read more

This is a very good location for a quality laundromat, unfortunately this is not a good place. Many of the machines are out of service, regardless of the website only a scant few of the machines are operable via the app, and the stickers in many cases are completely unreadable. The person working at the laundromat was great, dealing with the issues that I and other customers were experienced. The issues are NOT HER FAULT. This is 100% the fault of the owners for their terrible upkeep of their business. read more

We come here every week to do our laundry and every time that we are there, the employees are very rude and at times hear them yelling at other people using the facility. The one man that works there that "cleans" the machines ALWAYS closes off half of the laundromat and it makes it hard for people to use the machines. Tonight he decides to close half of the laundromat at 6pm (sign says they close at 8) when our clothes are still in the washer. We decide to stay on that side because other people are also using the dryers. We proceed to put our clothes in the dryer and the lady attendant yells at us for putting our clothes in the dryer..my response...your sign says that you close at 8 so we are using the dryers on this side. There was also another time when we were here that the guy employee chained the doors shut on the section he was trying to close..MAJOR fire hazard and safety issue while it was still operational hours and people were still using the facility. Owner of this laundromat really needs to stop by once in a while to see how their employees are treating customers and running their business read more

Lots of Machines are out of order. Older woman with grey hair who works there is very unfriendly. She screamed at my 2 year old daughter for touching the buttons for the dryer sheet dispenser. I was watching her the whole time. She was just touching it. Not being rough with it, or anything else. Lady was probably having a bad day. But you don't yell at a 2 year old like that. They don't know better. Besides, I was standing right there and saw nothing wrong. She merely touched the machine, and the lady was livid. Want to yell at someone, yell at me. Not a defenseless 2 year old you psychopath. As for Tykes, please do your due diligence when hiring people. This lady was rude, unprofessional, and had a very bad hygiene problem. As a business owner, I can tell you right now that hiring people like that is very bad for business. I'll be going to laundry express from now on. read more

Not having a dryer in Hilo is like not having water in the middle of a dessert. The humidity of the air and the lack of wind really makes drying clothes in the open air a difficult task and in the end you may end up with a bad mood and moldy clothes. This was written in my fate until I found Tyke's. Tyke's Laundromat can help out with your moldy clothes problem with their many available washers and dryers. Located on Kilauea, the laundromat is in a lot right next to a few restaurants with ample parking. Tyke's opens early in the morning at 5am and closes around 10pm at night. The washers and dryers accept quarters only and there is a machine that changes your bills to quarters inside the laundromat. The laundromat is not the cleanest or safest place as I have witnessed a fight that broke out between two men over laundry being stolen. Other than the possibility of missing laundry (easily prevented by supervising your loads at all times), the laundromat sells juice and soda, plays movies like Ratatouille and also has a vending machine. It's a quick and convenient place to wash and dry laundry while grabbing a bite. read more

Quiet, very clean, plenty of folding space and there was no wait for washers or driers when I went there. The staff was really kind, and it wasn't too crowded, plenty of parking. The best part about Tyke's is that they are coin operated, simple and easy. read more

I washed a load of clothes in a front loader machine. The machine never rinsed and spun my clothes. The cycle finished but my clothes are drenched and soapy. Told the lady who works there and she said I used to much soap. Used the same amount of soap I've always used and this never happened. She wouldn't accept the machine is defective and I didn't want to take it to judge just. I wouldn't recommend this place. Defiantly my last time there dortbags. read more

First off, you need coins for this laundromat. No bills larger than $20 accepted in the coin machine and no credit cards taken. The brand new washers did a pretty good job of washing (some minor stains left where had I done the load at a regular home washing machine, it would surely be gone). My laundry came out wet - I could even ring out water from several items. About half the dryers didn't work so pay special attention to which ones you put your laundry in, otherwise you will have to move loads around! BUT when it all comes down to it, the place was not busy and I got all 28 loads - 4 six loaders and 1 four loader - washed and dried! read more

Tyke's gets 5 stars because they will do your laundry for $1 a pound. Couldn't be easier! You can drop off your load(s) at the front and it'll be ready in a day. My dad's washing machine broke and he'd be happy wearing the same clothes everyday...thank goodness for Tyke's! Now he can get clean clothes, no stress! read more

Got there, they had no soap for sale. Entire machine sold out. Place looked dingy, dark, narrow and depressing, too.

This place used to be a whole lot better. Now it seems that they have ALOT of machines out of order. The staff says they sont repair old washers cause they are getting new ones. But it has been months with alot of the large washers (which are the most popular) out of service. read more

Not bad for a laundromat in town. The parking is always busy and it can get a little crazy there sometimes, but they have plenty of washers and dryers. They always play a disney movie on the screen for people waiting there, which is nice. The bathroom stinks to high heaven in there and is super dirty. So use the bathroom at home before you go and bring a crap load of quarters for those machines, they eat up a lot when you wash or dry your loads. read more
