Over the years this place has got better & the employees have gotten friendlier. Years ago the staff here seemed rude & not interested in helping customers but that has changed for the better. I have had a P.O. Box here for years. When I renewed it because I renewed later than I was supposed to I needed new keys & the total was over $120 for only six months. That is a little bit pricey for a small P.O. Box but they are very useful & in the end worth the money. I recently came here a few days before Christmas & had to talk to the manager about a package I was waiting for. She was very nice & even offered to call me when it arrived. I thought this was very nice considering it was the holidays & they were very busy. Overall this Post Office has gotten better & friendlier over the years. While the P.O. Boxes might be pricey they come in handy & are worth it. This is one of the better post offices in the area. read more

Popped in to get postage for a large envelope hoping to use the self serve machine but.... THEY DON'T HAVE ONE. What the... One would think Barrington could manage to have one but whatever. Wouldn't have been a big deal if there hadn't been a line and that moved SO slow. Ugh! However, the floor show was good... A toffee-nosed Brit bullying the clerk over his stupid eBay return package. People who crap all over service people who are trying to help with a problem they did nothing to create are always interesting. ...and then when the clerk had success, instead of dropping his embarrassing display he doubled down on it. smh... Rude, unhelpful. Last time I went I wanted the cheapest way to send my package and was charged over a dollar more then it needed to be when I looked it up at home later. Go to the Fox River Grove location. They are pleasant and friendly and willing to send things the way you need. I would rather go out of my way to this location then go to the Barrington Post Office. Everyone I know does the same too! read more

The Barrington Post Office and it's staff are incredibly lazy and rude. Their ability to screw up everything is amazing. Go to Fox River Grove if you need any dealings with the USPS. I wish I could have a choice in which post office serves my address. read more

I'm not sure what kind of experience the other Yelp reviewer, Raw, had but I'd be hard pressed to recall a singular pleasant experience at this post office in 15 years. I don't even bother going here anymore. The post office in Fox River Grove is relatively close and those people might REALLY be on Prozac. read more

Worst service ever. Did Click and Ship with Priority Mail on 10/2/18. Tracking said Dog in front yard. Not true dog was inside house. Next Carrier said Mailbox blocked. Impossible, no cars on street. Maybe it was raining too hard and didn't want to get hair wet. They wonder why people are frustrated with the USPS. Now I see why. TERRIBLE SERVICE even when you pay top dollar not to mention VERY DISAPPOINTED Grand-Children. read more

This is the worst post office ever. I've lived in multiple areas in 5 states and I have never seen a post office with such rude, arrogant, unhelpful employees. And they point fingers at any one and any thing to CTA. I've been having a horrendous time with missing mail. I have called the 800 # for consumer complaints over 12 times in the past 3 1/2 yrs and filed formal complaints with corresponding CA #s. But it does not matter how much I complain nothing seems to help. I did ask to speak to "someone in charge" and she told me to "write a letter". What? I'm supposed to write a complaint letter and then what? Pray that their return mail makes it to my mail box. OMG!!! My missing mail includes monthly bills, hospital bills, property tax info and much more including birthday cards from my 91 year old mother. This is not junk mail that is missing and who complains about missing junk mail any way??? Not only is there a problem with my own mail but I receive 1st class mail that is addressed to my neighbors all the time. I always write on the envelope "re-deliver" and put it back in my mail box for the mailman to pick up the next day. Consequently, I receive mail that has something along the lines of "redeliver, no such person" and some mail even "disappears" down a rabbit hole, never to be seen again. I have spoken to Curt, Post Master of the Barrington PO and he had the nerve to tell me that I was using the wrong address. Are you kidding me??? I must sound like a total idiot!!! I have lived in the SAME house with the SAME address since August 2000, 15 years now, yet Curt tells me I don't know my own address. Good lord man is that all you could come up with? No one else to blame so you blame the idiot resident that doesn't know her own address? Another brilliant idea from Curt was to have a tracking number placed on all my bills. Really? Nicor and ComEd are going to be thrilled with this idea now aren't they??? I swear talking to these people at the Barrington PO is like a remake of the film "Gaslight". If you are not familiar with the film "GasLight" starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, it's a fabulous movie, well worth your time. I have lived in the Barrington area since 1989 and the Barrington Post was horrible when we moved here and to date there are no visible signs of improvement what so ever. If I do need to go to the PO, I either use the Fox River Grove or Carpentersville and have always received friendly, knowledgeable service. I don't think I am asking for much. I just want my mail delivered to my mail box. Am is mistaken or is this their job? read more

Was surprised to see terrible reviews as in and out in 45 seconds. The employee was very nice. Yes they do not have an automatic machine. For better service would probably require prior planning as I received great service at 1:30 PM on a Thursday. read more

I am a printer and had no choice but to use the Barrington Post Office for a Barrington based mailing for my customers. I had 3 jobs in the past year go through them and all 3 mailings had issues. If I had another option I would have used it. If they were a real business that had consequences for poor performance they would have been closed a long time ago! If you have options stay away. They don't care. To them it's only a job not career. read more

I am so fed up with this post office! I went in today to mail a couple of large envelopes. First of all, had to stand in line for 20 minutes. Ridiculous. 2nd - blaring out of a large boombox behind the counter was the RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOW! Are you kidding me? I am offended. Offended by the idea that I have to listen to that in a government building. 3rd - the woman working for USPS (only employee I saw), was crabby, NEVER smiled, and acted like she was doing us a favor. When I tried to pay with a $20 bill, she said she could not make change! Are you fricking kidding me? If this was any other business other than a government business, none of the above things would have happened.The employee would be fired, the radio would be playing uplifting music that everyone could enjoy, and customers would be able to pay for the services any way they want to. Why do you think the USPS has no money, has to raise the cost of stamps constantly and they are falling by the wayside - wake up! It is because the vibe you get when you walk into this post office: " I could care less about you, or your feelings. I hate my job. You are just lucky if I wait on you!" Not only was the woman crabby, but several of the men who have worked there forever are just as bad! So frustrated today and this is probably the 10th time I have been upset when leaving the post office - just the first time to vent my feelings! read more
