The fries were fresh cut, and were from her uncle's farm. They were cooked to perfection nice and crispy. The salad bar was really amazing. It had lots of choices and lots of toppings. It seemed that they kept up with messes from that dressings that might've spilt over. The shrimp is on ice not in ice. They even had a bit of dessert of ambrosia on the salad bar. I wouldn't recommend trying to find this place in the dark (I speak from experience) as some of the roads leading up to it don't have the best signage and there are some interesting features you have to traverse on your way there such as a one lane bridge. My boyfriend and I stayed for only one night, but would like to return to these cozy cabins. The cabins themselves are located only about 50 feet from the bank of the river which makes the scenery interesting and also good for activities like fishing and hiking. It was very quiet when we stayed since it was off season. It appears like it could be lots of fun to rent a cabin with 4-6 people and grill outside, have a fire in the pit provided, and eat at the picnic table. The cabins are small, yet comfortable and cutely rustic. Look for the cool guest books that have been signed in variably hilarious and sincere ways throughout the years. They have one large bed, two bunks, and a loft bed. The bathroom was tidy but a bit crude, especially the shower. It was clean but definitely outdoorsy and basic. The kitchen area included everything you need to prepare your own meals. The fridge was a decent size and they had lots of plates, pans, silverware, and cooking utensils for guests to use. One thing to note, is that there is electricity but no television, radio, or alarm clock provided in the cabin. It would've been nice to have brought a radio with us, had we known. Cell phone signal was pretty much nonexistent also, fyi. The owner was very pleasant when I called to ask some questions and make a reservation. She emailed me detailed directions, which was nice. I had a print out of the directions, which was important because the cell phone and internet service was patchy along the approach there, i.e. no gps/mapquest on my phone. In summary, pack like you are going on an extravagant camping trip: you won't need a tent, but it's probably worth it to have extra amenities such as flash lights and a radio. Not a "five star" experience in the classic sense of the word, but if you want a fun, rustic getaway these cabins deliver.

The additional $10 per day pay for a nice view spot is worth it. Our location is on the very top where we have a view of the mountain and the reservoir . This tiny cabin fits all the basic needs. Bed, kitchenette with cooking supplies , dining table, a small ref , stove top and toilet and shower with a view. A cute big window next to bed is the main attraction of the cabin. For two consecutive mornings, we stayed longer in bed and enjoyed the beautiful view from our window. During our nighttime stays , we truly enjoyed the campfire. Woods, starter and s'mores are supplied. I am still waiting if my credit card will be charged for these provisions . I read a review posted which was before Post Card Cabins was bought by Marriot that they hit a charge for these supplies plus for some snacks and drinks on the kitchen countertop . The Adirondack chairs outside are comfortable . The picnic table is perfect for a nice dining outdoor with a beautiful nature vibes. Our cabin area was so serene, we had a privacy as the next door cabin is hundred feet away from us. Western Catskills is a perfect location for us as our goal of coming here was to escape the city to relax and reset during the stay. If you have same goal, this kind of setting is recommended for you. This is your escape place.

We reserved the place just in time for the autumn peak season in the area. The place was about 2.5-3 hours drive from where we live, the trip itself was delightful due to the colorful leaves on trees that we passed by. The charming retreat was easy enough to find with the help of GPS. There were several tiny cabins in the compound which were designated with names so that guest could easily find them. Cabins are far enough from each other to provide privacy for each separate guest. Be sure to drive slow when in the compound as the ground was a little rough. Each cabin guest has a designated parking spot which is neat. The cabin that we were assigned to has several outdoor stairs, a short walk from the parking spot to the cabin, cabin is situated on top of a hill which gives guest a nice view from the cabin. Outside of each cabin, they provided a fire pit, picnic table, 2 lounge chairs and fire logs with fire starters. For us to get in to the cabin, they provided us with a code so that we can electronically unlock the door. The cabin was cute and tiny but they have provided all the essentials which included a comfortable queen's bed, small table, mini-refrigerator, a kitchenette, two burner stove, coffee supplies, kitchen utensils, paper towels, complimentary smores kit, coat hooks, toilet paper, towels, body wash, conditioner, shampoo, flushing toilet, hot shower and a few more. You won't believe that all of it could fit in that cute cabin. They kept the cabin tidy and clean. The best thing that I love in the cabin is the large picture window, my wife and I had that feeling where we sort of just wanted to stay in bed, cuddle and stare at the nature outside the large picture window. In summation, my wife and I had a wonderful time at this tiny cabin compound, we had a peaceful campfire each night that we stayed, savored the tranquility of the place, took pleasure in touring the small town of Roscoe, admired the nearby reservoir, found joy in hiking some nearby trails, appreciated finding/exploring covered bridges and had fun visiting a nearby brewery. Our overall experience was relaxing, peaceful and an exceptional escape from city life, with minimal-to-no Wi-Fi or TV, which encourages disconnection and quietude. Finally the bartender comes over and says " you are supposed to order at the bar"," oh there used to be a sign but they removed it". Maybe she wound have mentioned that when she handed us the menus. I really want to leave here but hunger has me. The customers seem nice though. Really a bad experience from jump street. So after sitting a while the food comes and the person delivering it is so nice. The "bartender" did not get the order correct but no worries because the lovely server makes it right. The bartender has a dog and it is all over the place including the table tops? People come in and are seated right next to us. They have two dogs but there is no problem with our pup and theirs. They are lovely people. The whole time we are there from entering the establishment to the time we leave the "bartender" is talking to the people at the bar, laughing and talking. This includes the time we waited to be seated till she comes over with the menus and tells us about ordering at the bar. Nothing better to do but hack it up and make us feel uncomfortable. I get the fact that you know the regulars but wouldn't you like some more regulars? This is a hospitality industry not a hostility industry. She has got some issues! Anyhow we pay the check and leave a tip, but if the "bartender" was the only person we delt with I would have opted out of the tip. This is our second stay at a Getaway location (prior was Eastern Catskills). They have really…read moreupped their game. While the cabins are smaller, they now have; -Real flushing toilets -Air conditioning -Countertop two-burner induction stovetops Our stay was good but visitors should know that the point of the Getaway is to strip vacation down to it's bare minimum. No wifi, no cellular coverage, limited electricity and appliances. Limited retail shops and restaurants in the area (for 20 miles or more). Not much to do in the area other than hiking. Make sure you are willing to disconnect for your entire stay and you will have a good/relaxing time. The prices can get a bit silly considering what the experience is. Prices can get above $250; compare this to under $100 for a hotel with many more amenities, especially in this area. The prices also seem to fluctuate all over the place, sort of like Uber surge pricing. I booked early in the year and found the prices changed over the next few months depending on demand and occupancy. Pro tips: -Check in is 3PM and check out is 11 AM -They will text you with your cabin name and the code to open the door just before your check in time. Since the area has no cellular coverage, you may miss that text if you come in early. Make sure you're in an area with cellular coverage before you check in. -Yes, you can Uber here but you are going to be stuck here for your entire stay unless you come with a car. -They have some snacks available but you really need to bring your own food -The units have mini fridges but there's no freezer (at least in the unit I stayed in) -There are a lot more units on this ex-camground than I remember seeing in the Eastern Catskills when we stayed 5 years ago. There's maybe 30 units here -There's really only enough room to park one car but you could probably find a spot elsewhere on site to put a 2nd car if your party arrives in 2 cars. -There are two types of cabins; one queen bed or two queen beds. If there's 2nd queen bed, it's on a loft above the main queen bed. The loft is best for kids. Older people will have trouble getting up the stairs -My wife pointed out there's no hairdryer in the cabin (but you can bring one, I don't know if it will pop a breaker on the limited power available in the cabin) -If you are looking for the cooking oil, it's in the small cup with the sugar packets! It looks like coffee in a foil pack, but it's oil! We didn't realize this until our last day... -There is a 'landline' phone in each unit, it looks like a Princesss trimline touchtone phone. They don't put the phone number on it but you can call someone with caller ID and get the number- then you can call the cabin directly. -Each unit has a rustic outdoor grill. I brought firewood but they have extremely reasonably priced dry wood on site for you to use. Keep in mind it will take about 20 minutes to get to a point where you can cook food over the wood. -Each unit has a picnic bench and some Adirondack chairs for sitting around the campfire/BBQ -The unit also has a rechargeable camping lantern for sitting outside at night. -Don't be a jerk. There's a little metal plate on the picnic table with text that says not to play loud music or leave a fire unattended or else they will charge you $100 (donated to local conservation charities). -Check out the site map before you go. Your phone won't work when you get there so you need to know which roads are one way only and how to get in/out of the complex and find your cabin. -The roads are gravel and can be negotiated with a car but you'd be better off in an SUV. The average Honda or Toyota could do it fine (maybe not so much in winter) but don't bring your vette or other low clearance car.
