I have just heard one of the dumbest reasons for not providing services than I have heard in many many years. I gave owned real estate, primary homes, rental properties, I represent clients with numerous properties and yet the reason for lack of service ranks right up there with complete stupidity. I called to have my personal AC serviced due to the fact that it needs it as indicated by it blowing warm air. I scheduled the appointment made it a point to be here and 10 minutes before the last possible time to show up I get a call and some urchin tells me they don't service homes that are on the market. Isn't one of the reasons for servicing is that you are putting it on the market and need to comply with inspections? When I aske why, the urchin replied that it was company policy, no other explanation. That is frankly one of the absolute dumbest answers I could have expected. So if they are that afraid to do a home that will be sold does that mean they do a shoddy job that will not pass inspection? Does mean they do not even trust their own work? Or are they just plain ignorant. Whatever the reason, I would not take a chance on hiring them for anything that may eventually need an inspection. I'm sure they would raise a defense against any claim that they did not know the property would be sold. Does this mean they never do work for contractors who are building homes? So on the last review, I did it because Roman and Omar was cool people but what wasn't cool was how we smelled gas in the days following. I ended up calling emergency gas company to check it out and they did and rectified the situation, a loose valve. I contacted the owner who commented and said he would do something but we all know he didn't do..... I won't use them again let's just say that for putting me and my kids at risk! I own and operate a facility for special needs adults. My units were in need of repair but worked perfectly. After an inspection by Downey Plumbing Heating and Air, the next morning, I was left with a non working unit. I received poor customer service and I was told by a supervisor that they were not at fault and refused to send a technician immediately to deal with the issue. I fully understand customer service working with families of those with special needs and this was by far one of my worst experiences with a company. There was no consideration nor did the supervisor address the fact that the technician was the only person to touch the unit the prior day. I told them that this is unacceptable and I hope no one experiences this like I did. They offered to send someone after my business hours and they showed no consideration. Alberto did a great job installing our new heating/air conditioning unit. He was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Alberto evaluated our current unit and intake vent and provided a proposal that was very competitive. We really appreciated his no-pressure approach. He clearly explained everything that was going to happen and didn't try to upsell us or push any gimmicks (unlike some other people we spoke with). Communication was excellent. He was always quick to respond to our questions and kept us in the loop about our order status and installation date. We have an older foundation home with copper piping that springs frequent leaks. The insurance company will only pay to replace the section of piping that leaks so they send someone from Downey Plumbing to evaluate the leak. After the plumber inspects and reports to the insurance company it usually takes one or two days before Downey Plumbing can have someone come out and make the repair. In the meantime the leaky pipe keeps leaking. During the most recent leak Downey Plumbing sent Alecia to evaluate and repair the leak. Alecia provided excellent service! She was knowledgeable, courtious and did very good work in a timely manner, she patched the pipe so it could not keep leaking while we waited for her return visit. Had a leak in my pipe from my water meter to my house. My 3rd party insurance recommended and set up my service with Downey Plumbing! We had never used them before. They came out the next day and found the leak was between the house shit off and the meter. They set up an appointment to put in a special valve so the leak detector person could find the leak. They set up the appointment with the leak detector specialist. Then they coordinated all the utilities to come mark their lines. After, Axl set up our repair appointment. Axl was our plumber from the beginning of this ordeal to the end. Axl was very communicative, polite, professional, arrived on time, knowledgeable and did the repairs in a timely manner. Called the owner, Joe, to let him know my water usage has gone up 718 gallons since his leak detector left, you can see the probe holes and hear the water running through the hole but since they determined the leak was already there they will not fix the pvd the detector damaged, causing water to gush more. He refused the technician to look at the piping, fix the pcs pipe broken from their leak detector, making my situation so much worse. Joe is a man with no regard to standing behind his work performed, fixing mistakes made. I have filed a complaint with the insurance company, hopefully they will make him be a honest, responsible man. read more

We used Downey Plumbing and Air Conditioning for a A/C leak in the attic. This was my first time using them and I was ever so pleased. This was a 4-day job. Which consisted of the following. They had to relocate the central AC unit in the attic as it was installed incorrectly years ago and not up to code. It caused the system to not be level and water pooled instead of draining. They replaced all the ductwork and repaired the coils. They also serviced the tankless water heater and installed a filter. The technicians on the job were Alberto A, Chris and Alberto N. Downey Plumbing is by far the best plumbing company that has done work for us. We had a clogged double sink drain, as well as a leaking shower drain pipe. The company was able to assign us a plumber very promptly and provided updates on when the plumber would arrive. The assigned plumber, Alberto, also provided us with updates of his exact arrival time. Alberto was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and honest. At one point, he had to go into our house's crawlspace to assess what was causing all of our problems. He then patiently explained the work that needed to be done, and he showed us photos he had taken in the crawlspace of our old corroded and leaking cast iron pipes. We appreciated his honesty and the fact the he did not try to up-sell us in any way. Alberto repaired the leaking pipes, unclogged the double sink drain, and later showed us the replaced parts and explained how the replaced parts were causing our problems. It was clearly evident that he made only necessary repairs, and it was equally clear that he took a lot of pride in his work. He was pleasant, efficient, and he cleaned everything up before leaving. In summary, Alberto was the best plumber who ever did work for us, and we will be asking the company to send him out to us again if we need any future plumbing work done. Alicia, the plumber for Downey Plumbing, arrived and snaked out my sewer line, clearing the clog. In doing so, when she ran the camera in the sewer line, she discovered a break in the clay pipe where roots were coming in. She called the shop and they rescheduled a date to do this repair. A week later Alicia showed up again and dug a 4 foot thrench all by herself to get down to the broken section of pipe. She removed the old clay pipe and installed a new section of ABS pipe. I saw their work van at a red light the other day and remembered what a great job they did for us numerous times. It was Thanksgiving and we were busy bustling in the kitchen, when suddenly we heard water coming out of the bottom of the kitchen sink! Yikes!
