I usually get my smog check close to work for convenience, but this time I was looking for a local, reliable smog check spot in Downey and read the good reviews for Oscar at Downey Express...Went to get my 2001 Truck smog checked...it did not pass the first time, however; Oscar with a very helpful attitude was very informative and provided his recommendation in getting the smog check to pass. He recommended a good close by place to get the repair done at a very reasonable price. Got repair done the same day in a matter of 20 minutes, came back the next day and smog checked it and it PASSED. Was looking for a good affordable smog check place open on sundays since the smog check place I use to go to closed down. Went on here on Yelp and saw the great reviews it had. Decided to come on a Sunday. There were 4 cars ahead of me and only waited about 25 minutes. The man said he'd tell me before hand if it wouldn't pass free of charge. Took less than 10 minutes to do the STAR test. My car passed. Cost $40 flat. Folks were extremely nice and friendly. Will definitely continue coming here. Excellent service :) . read more

This is the place to go if your car won't pass smog!! My catalytic converter was bad and needed to be replaced. Anyone knows that ca legal CC are not cheap. So brought my Honda Civic here and Oscar ran some test to make sure that was the problem at no additional charge. I needed a smog check to register a used car a bought to the dmv. I went to another smog check location and this guy charged me $40 only to tell me it needed a oil change and was trying to send me to his friends shop then told me come back give me $40 and I'll pass it. So then I came by here and Oscar said let me check it he passed it like nothing and told me to watch out for these scams. I'm no mechanic I don't know how the smog check business works but honesty goes a long way with me. I highly recommend Oscar and his word is golden. I took my car to get a smog check with no appointment and I was in and out in 30 minutes. My husband took his car to get a smog check as well.
