First off, this place is off of 580 right before the hill to go to Tracy, so going there after work is not at option if you live in Pleasanton or further West, as it takes 35 minutes to drive there when you live 15 minutes away due to traffic, & they close at 7:00PM, & 3:00 on the weekends. What the heck business closes at 7:00? So going there after work is not an option for me! Good thing I only bought 5 tans, as they would go to waste. They also don't have all the cool options that the Tracy location has! The place seems clean, but the hours suck. read more

I've been getting sprayed by Trisha for a couple years now. She is so amazing at what she does. My tans last a little over a week with proper care. I also have a red light therapy membership here. I try to come daily for 20 minutes. The staff are so sweet and helpful. Another thing I appreciate and I know you will to... the level of cleanliness. They take their time with cleaning the tanning beds after every use. Highly recommend this place for spray tans and red light therapy! read more

The lady working was very unprofessional! As much as I love to be tan, I'd rather not deal with places like this. She gave me the wrong information over the phone and was unprofessional about it when she realized she did. I drove out of my way just to find out she keeps you and other customers waiting for personal reasons and doesn't at least acknowledge you while you're standing there. Very rude! It wasn't a medical emergency. It was a customer who Rudely chose to sleep in the tanning bed. I got to the salon 30 to 40 min After I even called. She said "sorry I gave you the wrong info over the phone . I was dealing with this situation." The situation wasn't fixed 30 min later? That's chaos and bad business. And it keeps being referred to as a medical emergency. It was not. I don't appreciate the dishonesty at all. read more

This place is great -- I especially like that you don't have to make an appointment, it's located by Target (who doesn't love a Target?) and it's clean and well maintained. The girl with the brown hair and braces that works there is awesome .. I hope she gets paid more than the other girls because she is knowledgeable about the products, the beds and the tanning process. I was surprised she was so well informed (not something you expect at a tanning salon). I felt comfortable taking her recommendation regarding which lotion was best for my dry sensitive skin and how long each tanning session should be before I increase the time. Another great thing about this place is the variety of packages they offer. I like that i can sign up for 1-month unlimited. Lots of guys come tanning here, which I thought was kinda odd at first, but I guess vanity is for everyone! I've been tanning here for over 5 years now. I love this place. But I recently started doing Red Light Therapy and OMG! After using red light therapy for a few months my acne is gone my cellulite is much less noticeable and my tan is so much darker! I have been going to down under tanning in Livermore for years. Trish has been the owner for as long as I have been coming here ! Let me just start by saying she is amazing and super sweet always trying to make sure her customers are well taken care of. The salon is always clean and she always does her best to have the best prices for her salon and lotions! When I had moved I was still driving the extra 45 min just to come here, even though there were tanning salons close to my house. The spray tanning here is great!!! I had Trish give me a spray tan a few days before my wedding (I believe Wednesday, married Saturday)... NO color came off on my dress and NO streaks... The color was also very even and natural. I don't have much time to tan anymore so getting a spray tan here is perfect for me. I've always loved the beds here and spacious rooms, however, my time is limited so I typically just do the spray tan for quick color. Its close, and it is convenient, but every time I go in here the place is left to be ran by high school girls - which is fine, but they are always on their phones, computers, reading a book... which again, i don't mind its probably really boring in there most of the day - but when a customer walks in you should put down what you're doing and not say "hang on a sec" while you finish your text or reading your page. I asked to go in a standup bed and what time they recommended based on my tanning experience and skin color and came out looking like a lobster because she put me in for 10 minutes when the last time I went in - three days before - was for 6 minutes. read more

The only hiccup I have experienced was one of the girls couldn't find me in the system and I had to spell my last name (which honestly isn't that hard) to her more than a few times. The owner is nice-does what she can it seems like, one of the girls has her boyfriend hang around the shop. Annoying. Also the matrix was broken for a long time, I only signed up to use that bed specifically. Owner offered 5 more matrix when my package ends but that doesn't do me any good when I have my trip in a week to the Dominican. I'd rather get some money back... Disappointed. I started going to Down Under, probably back in 2002 or so. I don't go often, usually just to get some even color before an event. I've really only had pleasant experiences here. If I remember right I think they used to give you jolly ranchers here and you could borrow goggles, but no jolly ranchers anymore and you have to bring or buy your own goggles. Not that those are negatives at all, just blurbs of mine.... Anyways, the decor here is really cute and the salon is very clean which is definitely important. The staff is usually fairly friendly, usually high school aged girls. One thing I do find a bit tacky is that they sell knockoff purses here....no one believes that those are real Chanels, you really should pick classier merchandise that is more relevant to the tanning business! Regardless, I will keep coming back when I need a tan and I do recommend Down Under! read more

I have been going to this tanning salon for about a year now. Great prices and wonderful staff. Everything is always nice and clean, and usually no wait time-maybe 5 minutes on occasion. I tan in the level 4 bed which seems to tan me pretty well. Very affordable. I pay around $45 a month. At my last tanning place I paid nearly $100. They always have really good deals on lotion as well. I have not tried out the spray tans yet, but I heard they don't turn you orange. Every skin reacts different so we will have to see. read more

I've been going to down under tanning for 10+ years, almost always for Matrix or stand up tan. I was happy to see that they recently added the spray tanning service, Bronze Goddess. I've been twice now, the first time with Shelby and the second with Cat. Both experiences were perfect. Very professional, while making me feel comfortable and at ease. The tan was great, lasted a solid ten days, and the talc at the end really makes a difference. I was really happy and will absolutely be returning for this new service. read more

If I could rate them a zero, I WOULD When I went in there, having never tanned before, I asked the OWNER of the store to help me choose what tanning bed and the amount of time I should stay in there. She proceeded to talk down on me like I was a small child because I did not know all of the details about tanning, HAVING NEVER TANNED BEFORE. FINALLLYYY I got into a bed, after her being extremely rude and condescending to me, she began to apologize for being rude to me, and I explained how I felt like she was attacking me. Mind you, throughout this entire experience I was being nice because I just wanted to get my damn tan and leave and not deal with this lady. After I stated that she made me feel attacked she then proceeded to demand that I leave the store, AFTER I HAD ALREADY PAID $39 ON GROUPON FOR THIS TANNING SALON, and was not allowed to tan there, BECAUSE I TOLD HER I FELT ATTACKED AND DID NOT WANT TO ARGUE I am completely appalled that she would turn away a customer that has ALREADY PAID and I am even more disgusted that she would speak to her customers in this way. I had never been there before this experience and you can be sure that I will NEVER EVER set foot in this tanning salon again. read more
