For a few reasons-I hear how some patrons freak out and I feel awful for the ladies at the front desk. I've been coming to this tanning salon for over a decade--since before it was even Australian Tan--and have always had positive experiences with the staff. The team has consistently treated me with kindness and professionalism over the years, which is why I'm writing this review: to recognize someone who truly deserves it, and to call out behavior that absolutely does not belong in a workplace. On the evening of May 22nd, I witnessed something deeply upsetting. One employee, who I've interacted with before and who has always been incredibly sweet, helpful, and hardworking--was doing everything she could to keep the operation running smoothly. She remained kind, professional, and attentive to customers, even as multiple walked in the door at once. What shocked me was how she was being treated by the manager on duty. I've seen this manager before and she has generally come off as pleasant, but tonight was different. She spoke to her employee in an aggressive and demeaning tone that left multiple guests in the waiting area visibly uncomfortable. At one point, she said--loudly and condescendingly--"I said scroll. Why aren't you scrolling? Do you not know how to scroll? Are you dumb?" before pushing the employee aside and showing her in a hostile manner. She also stated "I can't help you" multiple times when the employee asked for assistance three times! She finally responds "I'm not clocked in, I literally can't help you!" It was disturbing, unprofessional, and unacceptable. One customer even walked out in discomfort--and frankly, I almost did too, but I wanted to make sure the employee was okay. No one should ever be spoken to like that, especially in front of customers. It's disheartening to see someone in a position of authority abuse their role in such a way. This review isn't typical for me, but I couldn't stay silent. The five stars here are entirely for the amazing employee who handled everything with grace and professionalism under extremely difficult circumstances. She deserves recognition, respect, and better leadership. read more

I love the cocoon sauna pod, red light, Halo sauna, however it can be a long wait sometimes and service is hit or miss. Staff is friendly however the wait policy seems to change based on who's working. I have been told multiple times that it is first come first serve for waiting for services, which I don't mind doing when I have time, however other occasions I've been in the cue for services and someone has been put in ahead of me after waiting 40 mins for that service ‍ Overall I'll still go because the cocoon helps my immune system. I can honestly say this is the cleanest location and the best location the staff are great and friendly they smile and greet you. They are very professional they explain all their products well. Got my first tan here with the VersaSpa and unfortunately will be the last. They use an older model of the Versa machine, with little instructions/ tips for use. My tan came out on the orange side. I got the lightest shade of the "Catalina" color. The worst was the breakouts. I'm not one to have body or chest acne but I am having the worst breakout I've ever had on my back and chest. The only significant change to my routine being the tanning. I wanted to like this little tanning salon so much- but I won't come back and I reccomend you don't visit either. read more

Just curious if anyone who uses Australian Tan in Livermore on Catalina is getting a discounted fee on their monthly rates because the company refuses to return to regular operating hours? I know Covid has changed business hours, but why is this tanning salon still able to operate with decreased operating hours, a skeleton crew yet still charge full membership fees? Yes, I have heard you don't want to have to close down if the rules change again. Well, change will always be a constant. I do appreciate the workers there. Please see my review for the San Ramon Location. (zero stars for San Ramon location) I was forced to go to the Livermore location (30-40 mins out of my way) after the San Ramon location set me up on a "passport package @ $69.99 per month" plus a set up fee. My goal was to spray tan . After they charged my credit card they told me their spray tan machine doesn't work. It's now been two weeks. Each time I call they refer me to Livermore. Amber and Valerie are amazing !!!! I called and explained the situation. Given my schedule and traffic I wasn't able to make it to their location until almost 9pm. I got my spray tan and they recommended another bed prior. They gave me a sample of the "primer" before the spray tan because they wanted to make sure my spray tan developed quickly. This location is out of my way, and inconvenient but the staff is amazing . It's also bigger than San Ramon and they have more beds. The employees seem ethical , honest and didn't mind that I was there at 9pm. Thank you Valerie and Amber !!!! read more

The people working were nice and attentive. The tanning beds do there job but if you are there for the redlight therapy or infra red cocoon don't go. The red light bed isn't even led and barely even red. Studies shows only visible red light at a certain wave length can enduce the healing effects associated with red light. Also the infrared cocoon only has two small infrared lights that barely light up your stomach. The heat is only from a heating fan. Both total gimmicks and not worth the money. Only thing that does what it is supposed to do is the tanning beds. read more

I've been coming to this location for a few months out of the year for the past nine years, most of which was under old ownership. I've been extremely pleased since ownership changed. They've updated the majority of the beds and really spruced up the interior. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable, and they take the time to get to know the regulars -- they always have my name queued up before I even walk in! Plus, the pricing structure is fair, and a lot better than the structure of the previous ownership. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't already. read more

The beds are great! The people working here also very nice! Here is where the one star comes: You are only allowed to cancel in writing and when they get your cancellation the will cancel! I went in intending just for one month of usage and I was told by the nice girl I would need to cancel before of the 14th of month! It wasn't explained that I had to do it within that week and I assumed it was the 14th of the next month! I was charged for that month! Two weeks later I mailed my cancellation card which they received at the end of the month. I then noticed my card was charged with 71$ !! I called the 888 number to speak to customer service (total inconvenience rather than talking to someone at the shop), and the phone disconnected at least 3 times after being transferred. I then gave someone my phone number and a lady called me back within half an hour when I couldn't talk. Finally talked to someone who told me I can't be refunded because I didn't send in my cancellation a week after I signed up! She then said she would give me a free month at a later time, but I only needed the service for this month! I am also moving away so I wouldn't come back to this location! A manager then spoke to me and said to dispute the charge with my bank! Customers be aware you will be ripped off by the corporation! Again the people inside the salon are very nice but the way this business is ran is very shady! read more

A friend recommended this place to me. Iv'e been tanning for 6+ years and have been to many salons. Signed up last night. Quick and easy process. Prices are listed very plainly and the contract is simple. The staff is Very friendly. Shout out to Stacey! The place is VERY clean and the beds were cleaned promptly after exiting. They have very reasonable pricing. I ended up going with the 12 month contract $0 down! This membership does have perks for the price. It is a bit pricey at $82.00 a month, but you get what you pay for. With the ultra membership comes the use of all beds, and unlimited spray tans. The spray tan booth was very easy to use (Stacey was VERY informative in showing me every detail I needed to know) My tan came out beautifully. They are open until 9 PM. Everyone who works here is very nice, helpful and quick. There's great packages for different memberships and for the quality of beds, the prices are good. Ive been extremely pleased!
