Man oh man! What a stand up guy! My water heater was leaking and I didn't want to chance my skills against something so necessary (to a point) as a water heater. Dovi came out...on Halloween!!! Pulled the old water heater out and sure enough, it was split. He scored a brand spankin new one and slapped it in certainly in less time than what I could have. The soldering looks phenomenal! Ok, so you know he can do work, but how was he personally? Super rad! Super friendly, easy to talk to. I'm not one to hover when someone is doing their work but I say I'm the garage, mainly out of boredom, and we just chatted. AND!!! Dov is a professional Plummer no question in my mind , I have a bad sink clogged and came in the same day and I have recived a text messages with updates on when he will arrive , He did show up on time and used a machine to fix the issue and it was the 2nd expensive option however he was right at market prices if not actually less then others I spoken to before I hired him. I had a plumbing issue in my kitchen and I had paid $2000. to a previous plumber who replaced rusted pipes but never corrected the problem of residual water backing up in my sink . I consulted with Dovis plumbing Co. who came out and performed a camera analysis of my kitchen sink and connected plumbing in which I paid a $400. nonrefundable fee. They identified that there was a 1 inch gap in the new PVC pipes and the rubber PVC flexible coupling. Dovis Plumbing quoted me a remaining balance of $3900 to create a clean out drain and fix the PVC problem that was a total of $4300 for repairs. They were supposed to correct the problem they identified but the only thing they did was the camera analysis and created a cleanout drain they never repaired the 1 inch gap in the PVC pipe that was identified. The worker contacted David the supervisor after he had completed the cleanout drain and never corrected the PVC gap issue and David the supervisor stated that will be an additional $600. to replace the coupling and I was upset because that issue was supposed to be resolved in the initial work that was quoted for a total of $4300 (that is $400.00 consult plus $3,900.). I didn't agree with the additional $600. and I asked if it could be discounted to $300 and he said no several times, because you told me it would be $4300. for everything and he said no and my kitchen floor was left with the floor busted up in front of my sink and dishwasher and a dirt pile 2 feet high with the drainage system exposed in the foundation of my home for 3 months with spiders and insects coming into my home. I had to pay a 3rd plumber to come and finish the work. It was a disaster. David the manager of Dovis plumbing did not care I had spoken to him on 3 different occassions to resolve the problem in which he never did! He did not care. My hot water heater was broken, i called Dovi and he came out to see it that day. He told me he would arrive between 1-2pm and arrived at exactly 1:30, perfect! He then went out and sourced a replacement heater and was able to remove the old one and do some amazing feat of plumbing to make it fit the space. Dovi also took the time to insert an apartment shut off valve which it didn't have before should any leaks occur I could mitigate damage. I found Dovi on Yelp this morning and very happy that I did, we now have boiling hot water and a superb plumber to call upon when needed. read more

Received estimates online on Yelp for toilet wax seal replace due to leakage. When prices were quoted all were between $240.00 and $250.00. Dovis did not issue an online price quote but I figured it would at least be in that price range and all companies (including) Dovis were many- starred recommends. When I called they advised there was a $45.00 estimate fee that would be deducted from the job if hired. I seriously needed it repaired and again figuring the above price range quoted from other companies was reasonable I had them come out. The plumber (Willie) was prompt, courteous and professional but I was more than a little shocked when he quoted a job price of of $381.89 for the job. As I had already taken the day off (and in addition would have a $45.00 estimate bill to pay if I declined the repair) I reluctantly went ahead with it. Willie did a competent and efficient job but having to pay more than a third more than the going rate to Dovis for his services was not a pleasant thing for me. I will not consider their services in the event of any future plumbing issues. read more

I called a few plumbers and most didn't seem trustworthy and knowledgeable. I reached Dovi's plumbing on the first ring and he was able to explain what needs to be done. I have two hot water heaters and one broke. He installed a shut off so that in the future either one can be turned off if in need of repair and he replaced the broken one. So I checked the number (i had it right) and called back. This time someone answered. He simply said hello. I asked if this was the plumber. He said yes......silence. So I said, Um, I need a plumber. He asked where I lived, I told him my neighborhood and asked if he wanted my exact address. He asked if I wanted the work done today, I told him as soon as possible. Stay away from this place!. I called in because my restaurant has been getting the kitchen drain clogged. They told me they could unclog it but it was not going to be a long term solution. To unclog they charged me $395 and, told me to fix it long term it costed $2500!!!. Of course I proceed to just do the uncloggin, while I found a company that would give me a better price to fix it long term. They came in at 6:00pm and at 11:00 am next day it was already clogged!!!. Like it said I knew the service was not long term but I mean in less than 24hr it was clogged again!!!!!. I called the company an they said "Sorry service doesn't have warranty". Apparently they placed smalled letters in my Invoice saying no warranty, but the technician (Who had an attitude as well) never said that the service had no warranty if not I would not have paid it. He was very thorough in his questions,and was able to be here within 2 hrs. There was no bs. He was straight up about the fees, he was honest about the work he had to do. Showed me exactly where the problem was. He recommended what to do. I am clueless when it comes to this stuff and after asking some friends and researched on line ( while he worked )everything he said was right on point!. He doesn't take credit cards, and I made the mistake of not asking, and can't even say how badly I feel, when I couldn't pay him his entire cost, which was so fair and so reasonable, for the work he conducted. They said I would need to break down the wall with the faucet (costing me hundreds of dollars extra to repair dry wall later). Not only were their estimates inflammatory, their behavior was ghastly. I came home from a 24 hour shift, and soon became aware of a distant slow dripping sound. I located the puddle on the first floor, and then found the larger puddle on the second floor, with water seeping behind the paint and the tile wall, coming down from the ceiling. This was an area that had seen water entry before, and we had never been able to ascertain the source, despite multiple visits by various plumbers and general contractors. I called my usual plumber, who assured me that they could get someone out next week, which was obviously unacceptable. Holding my breath, I Yelped to see if I could get someone out that day (I was supposed to leave out of town the following morning). The first plumber that came up was Dovis, who seemed to have impeccable reviews. I called and explained my emergency. He told me he'd get someone out ASAP, and that he'd call me with a time frame. 45 minutes later he called to say he'd be there in 30 minutes. He arrived when he said he would, was well spoken and professional. Diagnosed the cause of the leak in around four minutes or so, and had it fixed in around 15 minutes. Then he took some time to discuss unrelated plumbing issues with me, and answered questions I had about replacing my hot water heater (it's time) and thermostat. He was knowledgable and thoughtful, and listened carefully before answering (a rare skill, indeed!). Under the emergency circumstances, he could have ripped me off, but his charge was completely fair, particularly considering the very rapid service he provided me in an emergency. When I first called Dovi after seeing all the 5 star reviews on Yelp I was a bit apprehensive. I wondered "How can anyone get so many 5 star reviews?" and "Could they all be legitimate?" Well, after my experience with Dovi and seeing what a superb job he did, I now have my answer and am adding my own 5 star review. We had multiple plumbing problems involving the bathroom sink, tub, and toilet. Dovi corrected all of the problems in a highly professional manner, not rushing, and making sure that all the work was done correctly. Some examples: Dovi reconfigured the pipes in the vanity under the sink and installed new pipes of high quality (as distinct from the inferior quality, now corroded, pipes installed by our previous plumber). Similarly, Dovi snaked the main line leading to the tub in a careful manner such that the tub drain (which had been slow) now works beautifully (with much better results than those produced by multiple plumbers in the past). My wife says that when she now takes a shower, she feels like she's in a hotel. In the future, we will be calling Dovi for all our plumbing needs. read more

What about a plumber that shows up when he says he's going to show up? Unheard of you say? Well until I found Dovi, I'd called three different plumbers, including the plumber we've used for over 20 years only to repeatedly leave messages that were never returned. Dovi returns calls. I simply needed an aging basement sump pump replaced and Dovi showed up with his helper, on time, prepared with the correct replacement pump and did the installation quickly and cleanly. We got the labor and parts price up front and, in the end, he told us the cost of the pump was less than he quoted and that was reflected in his bill. So, add HONEST to that list as well.
